I dont write reviews often, but this printer is so bad I feel I must warn others. It is the WORST printer I have ever used. It literally makes me want to scream every time I attempt to use it. While the print quality may be okay - the stupid printer goes "off line" and despite running the diagnostics and firmware updates it will not stay on line. I often have to power it off and unplug several times it to bring it back on line. TOTAL PAIN. I had the 8600 version of this printer and it worked flawlessly until we lost it due to a power surge during the storm.

Would not work right out of the box. Would not recognize the printer ink that was packed with it. I had purchased an extra set of ink, but it would not recognize that either. Clearly a defective unit. I found it flimsy overall and cheaply made. I returned this one and ordered the HP 8720 for a little higher cost, and the 8720 seems far superior, both in construction and in features.

The cartridges that come with the printer belong to HP and if you install them, you will be signing up for their Instant Ink whether you intend to or not. The cancel at any time claim is also false, as the cancellation isnt valid until the next billing cycle. In the meantime, they can charge you whatever they want to. After an hour on the phone with an HP supervisor, HP agreed to send me regular ink cartridges and refund my charges. However, if I had it to do over, I would buy a printer without the Instant Ink scenario. As it is, they made it right with me and the printer works just fine. Too much trouble to return at this point.

I am very disappointed in this product. We have had it since August an it continues to lose the ability to connect wirelessly - even though it shows a strong wireless signal. I contacted HP for support - after 3 hours - they wanted $99.99 to fix the problem. HP just lost a loyal customer on this one. In addition, I have had the same thing happen with 3 of them at work. Our IT Dept. Says that they are defective. Now trying to find out how to get this one back for replacement - I ordered it from Amazon - obviously - Anybody have words of wisdom on this?

This printer purchase has been a total nightmare. The product I ordered from Amazon and whomever fulfilled it has caused a massive headache that no one seems to want to take ownership of. So the OfficeJet Pro 8710 I ordered requires HP954 only ink refills. They do not sell HP954 in the USA, it is only for Latin American countries. So, they US equivalent, HP952 gets an incompatible cartridge error on my device. I try calling HP Support and I always get a message to hang up and go online for answer. They solution is to check for correct ink cartridges. Why do they sell these units in the US if you cannot get correct cartridges. I am now out of time with Amazon to apparently help. So I have no way of getting the correct ink cartridges to work and no support. I am now going to be wary of any printer that uses proprietary ink and sells units with different ink model numbers all over the world. Shame on Amazon for letting this happen on thier watch.

Im updating my review and giving this printer one star (one year ago it was 4-stars). Like many reviewers, I have used HP printers for decades and been very happy … this printer is a piece of junk and I will buy another brand from now on. Major issues: wireless quit working (using usb cable now), I dont like the print quality, the pages scan crooked even though I place them in straight, replacement ink is much too expensive for what you get, I continue to get automated update messages which will lock up my computer if I try and update, the printer footprint is HUGE. I use it only now as a scanner (and Im not overly impressed with using the scanner feature). Im going to get another printer (not HP) and not fight with this anymore. I dont even think I will give this to Good Will since Id feel badly that someone else is going to have to suffer.

This is the worst printer I have ever owned! I love HP printers but this one is a dud. I have had it for 4 months, the alignment is still off (cuts off the top of the page), the ink is expensive (and I never got the ink bundle I ordered), it disconnects from the internet on a regular basis. I have another HP in our small office and I have no trouble with it. I would recommend passing this model by and choosing something else.

This printer died when it was 3 weeks old. It would not start up. Calling HP Customer Support was a disaster: Took 30 minutes to find HiPs request for customer support - they send you a case number with a phone number. Called the number - they put me on hold for 40 minutes and then hung up on me. Called again the next day and was able to speak to a customer service rep; after 30 minutes he determined that this printer was dead and told me I could get a replacement or a refund. Two negatives on printers capabilities: it cannot enlarge when making a copy. It does not print the ink status report.

No Stars. Worst purchase ever. Throw your money out the car window as you drive...that way, someone can actually benefit from it and youll feel much better than if you bought this HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Wireless Printer with Mobile Printing, Instant Ink ready (M9L66A) . I have had to repeat the setup and install virtually every time i have needed to use this printer with my Mac. I contacted tech support and they updated my router firmware for me. The tech smugly informed me that my router was the problem. I printed a page that day. It shouldnt be big news every time I am successfully able to print a page, but with this printer it is. I connected to the printer via the USB cable today and I still couldnt print. Ill work on it later, but seriously this product has been nearly useless to me.

This printer is garbage. It has been down for extended periods of time at least four times since I bought it. Calling HP to have them fix it is a joke. I sent them the picture of the jobs I printed and they said their was nothing wrong with the print quality. Apparently they can be bothered to be concerned with paper handling issues. It currently wont register it even has a printhead installed. Sending it to Asurion because thankfully I bought extended coverage.
