Im updating my review and giving this printer one star (one year ago it was 4-stars). Like many reviewers, I have used HP printers for decades and been very happy … this printer is a piece of junk and I will buy another brand from now on. Major issues: wireless quit working (using usb cable now), I dont like the print quality, the pages scan crooked even though I place them in straight, replacement ink is much too expensive for what you get, I continue to get automated update messages which will lock up my computer if I try and update, the printer footprint is HUGE. I use it only now as a scanner (and Im not overly impressed with using the scanner feature). Im going to get another printer (not HP) and not fight with this anymore. I dont even think I will give this to Good Will since Id feel badly that someone else is going to have to suffer.

This is the worst printer I have ever owned! I love HP printers but this one is a dud. I have had it for 4 months, the alignment is still off (cuts off the top of the page), the ink is expensive (and I never got the ink bundle I ordered), it disconnects from the internet on a regular basis. I have another HP in our small office and I have no trouble with it. I would recommend passing this model by and choosing something else.

I have had this printer for a few weeks now and so far I am impressed. I have printed from my computer, my laptop, my iPad, and my iPhone and wirelessly; It was EXTREMELY easy to set up. I literally plugged it into the wall and hooked it into the phone line (Just in case I want to fax) and I believe that was it. After that, I went and found my network on the printer and entered the name and password of the network. Then it was ready to print. I printed a class set (32) of full color transfers that came out AMAZING; I have printed double sided and I have printed fast text. Everything so far works great! For the price, it DOES come with the ink cartridges (1 of each color & black). I thought this was a GREAT deal!

This printer died when it was 3 weeks old. It would not start up. Calling HP Customer Support was a disaster: Took 30 minutes to find HiPs request for customer support - they send you a case number with a phone number. Called the number - they put me on hold for 40 minutes and then hung up on me. Called again the next day and was able to speak to a customer service rep; after 30 minutes he determined that this printer was dead and told me I could get a replacement or a refund. Two negatives on printers capabilities: it cannot enlarge when making a copy. It does not print the ink status report.

No Stars. Worst purchase ever. Throw your money out the car window as you drive...that way, someone can actually benefit from it and youll feel much better than if you bought this HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Wireless Printer with Mobile Printing, Instant Ink ready (M9L66A) . I have had to repeat the setup and install virtually every time i have needed to use this printer with my Mac. I contacted tech support and they updated my router firmware for me. The tech smugly informed me that my router was the problem. I printed a page that day. It shouldnt be big news every time I am successfully able to print a page, but with this printer it is. I connected to the printer via the USB cable today and I still couldnt print. Ill work on it later, but seriously this product has been nearly useless to me.

Ive been purchasing only HP printers for the past few decades. This time I reviewed the literature on-line and learned that (in the tech review) HP is a second-tier vendor. I ran through the Amazon reviews and leaned that nobody really likes home printers, and I can hardly fault that. However; the HP models reviewed on Amazon all came up as the least worst. My experience with this newly purchased printer has been excellent. I selected it because it has an oversized black cartridge (HP simply quit making the big cartridge for my older unit). I is quite large, so be prepared. It takes up a third of my utility table (excellent deal, I got is from Amazon). Installation was straightforward and tool about 30-45 minutes. I ran the installation from the printer panel and my cell phone. When the install was done, the web interface for the printer came up on my desktop system (this was all via WiFi). I also got the latest setup software from the HP website and ran a full install on my desktop (another 20 minutes) with no hitches. I then printed some text, no problem and thereafter an 8x11 full-color image. It printed in less than 20 seconds and did a creditable job. Ive no comment about the photo printing, because Ive not done that. If I do get some photo paper and try it, Ill amend the review.

This printer is garbage. It has been down for extended periods of time at least four times since I bought it. Calling HP to have them fix it is a joke. I sent them the picture of the jobs I printed and they said their was nothing wrong with the print quality. Apparently they can be bothered to be concerned with paper handling issues. It currently wont register it even has a printhead installed. Sending it to Asurion because thankfully I bought extended coverage.

Bought this for my son in college. When he set it up and I had no idea I had to set up an ink subscription. So now I have to maintain a usage subscription with HP while the printer could be racking up charges in another location. In the meantime, the subscription posts printer usage back to HP corporate in real time. I do not like the fact that HP corporate knows how many pages my son prints, when he prints them, and probably what he is printing. I had no idea that HP started using this creepy, Big Brother-like business model. I had bought 5 consecutive HP printers over the last decade or so. This is absolutely the last!

Just about my favorite printer of all time. I own three versions:8710 and two 8720 printers. Bought one for my bookkeeper and my son. Easy to setup and good color prints. Jammed once but it was my fault for loading two different kinds of paper. I used it to print my restaurant menus. Wireless is pretty easy to setup. Scanner works well for converting invoices to pdf documents.

HP (on all of its printers for the last 4 years) has included software that HARD-LOCKS the printer when they want you to order more ink from them. Heres the kicker, they dont actually have ink level sensors. The printer just uses a timer from the date of purchase. I have cartridges I KNOW have in in them because every time I want to print something I have to do a hard factory reset to print on job and it prints PERFECTLY. Then the printer hard-locks again and you cant do anything until youve installed HP BRAND ONLY ink cartridges. Currently priced at $120.00. AVOID HP AT ALL COSTS! Im going to just buy a new printer for $100.
