Update: here it is a year later and can no longer print with this printer. Now looking for a new one. HP support was no help at all. Its pulling up errors and printing with tick Marks Its super disappointing because I really did love it until it crapped out so quickly..:( I needed a new high quality laser for our business to create good crisp high quality print 1" flair buttons. The printer we purchased previously for this purpose had problems 6 months in and has had performance problems ever since. I am an HP person and should have went with my gut in the first place. So her we are. I dont usually marry myself to any one product but when it comes to printers its typically my go to. So why did I buy inferior the first time around. Well it was mainly cost and we were a very new business at the time. The laser arrived with no issues and was packaged well. The laser is on the larger side and had a few issues finding a good spot for it. Thats a minor issue and was easily corrected. Its not capable of wireless print either but I knew this when purchasing and again a minor issue. I figured it would be used frequently and put it in close proximity to my work space so easily to directly connect to our internet. It was an easy hookup for me and I was printing in minutes. I loved that you load the toners in the front instead of the top. This is not my first printer so I have a bit of experience installing them onto my computer. I went ahead and printed the 1" flair button images right away. It really should have been no suprise on the amazing print quality but I was used to the faded not so vivid inferior printing quality of our previous printer. So far we are only days in and I am very happy. I will be back in to update my review if there are any changes or issues. For now I am very pleased with my purchase. I attached photos of printer and images of print quality on the vivid setting. They are images of 1" flair buttons we sell. They the print pieces but extremely detailed and the printer does well with every part of the image.

During the included software installation, it provided on-screen instructions. The process took a very long time and at 99%, it failed. I tried reinstalling, waiting what seemed like forever, and it also failed. Went looking for a HP tech support number to call and it seems none exists. Couldnt find a thing concerning my problem in Web support either. While fooling around with the setup again, I noticed an instruction that said, "Be sure printer is on and ready." I took a look at the printer screen and it read, "Language- English". I pushed the OK button and the display read, "Ready". Silly me, I thought. Thinking I had finally found the solution for the failed setup, I ran it again. After the agonizingly long wait, it said "failed" again. I was about ready to begin the return process when I decided to look one more time on HP support site and stumbled upon a page for troubleshooting installation. I found a reference to what I thought, maybe, was this printer saying to Windows 10 users to use Windows driver update. Went to control panel, found the printer, told Windows to update driver, chose this printer from a list, and wowsie! it loaded the driver. After making sure the printer display read "ready" I sent a color document to the printer. All is fine. It printed fast and the result was fairly good. However, I kinda wish HP would include stuff like this in their documentation that is included with the printers. Windows 10 has been out for over a year.

So why the 1 star review? Purchased this March 13th of 2018. Used the printer for about 10 days after receiving the printer then I had a black toner error, 10.0100. This would mean I had to open up the toner tray and remove the black toner and place back in. This happened 3 times on daily for about 2 days then I called HP support. They were great and had a replacement toner sent out to me the next day. Fast-forward 1 week and I suddenly get the initializing error. Turned it off then on as suggested and it worked. Then today it just all went to crap. I got a memory low error from trying to print 3 pages of a pdf file thats like 6 mb for 30 pages but it couldnt. Printer off/on fixed the issue. Then all of a sudden constant initializing error appeared. Only way to fix that is to turn printer off then on. But after doing this for several times in one day enough was enough so I called HP support. First guy remotes into my computer and did a firmware upgrade on the printer and said it should be good to go. 5 minutes later the error pops up again. I message tech support and they tell me I need to get the printer replaced. Not looking so good at this moment. So HP support tells me I need to contact the point of purchase and luckily I was still within my replacement period. Lets see if this replacement will be better. Will update as the new one arrives.

Out of the box, the printer performs quickly and is easy enough to set up. It is heavy and seems well built. The problem comes when I try to print a picture. Any picture from any program. RGB or CMYK colorspaces. The color representation is very poor. Skin color looks especially ghastly. Red text looks like straight magenta. The demo page prints beautifully, so I know the printer itself works fine. I contacted tech support and the response was that this printer just prints like that. He tried installing different drivers, but had the same result. I get the same results with various computers and devices and drivers. The printer has a great feature set, but it is worthless to me if it cannot print color. The attached picture is of printouts of pictures labeled for reuse. On the left are prints from a color laser that are perfectly acceptable. On the right you have printouts from the HP LaserJet M452dn of the very same photos on the same paper.

Ive always had good luck with HP printers (their laptops, not so much). I opted for this larger office level printer instead of the more personal size one. If weight means something is built well, then this is built well - very heavy. Setup was a snap and it worked perfectly out of the box. Ive only had it about a month so far, but no problems so far.

Just got this today and I must say…Im impressed. As others have mentioned, this is no lightweight, 40+lbs. printer. I bought this to replace an older HP color LaserJet printer, it occupies the same small, area although this is taller. I have this connected to our network via ethernet, so I cant speak to the wifi connectivity. We just plugged the ethernet cable from the old printer into it, assigned the same IP address and bingo, we were up and running! Printing using AirPrint from my iPhone was fast, and easy. First thing I noticed is how FAST this prints! The test page was printing almost as soon as we hit the print button on the pc. The test page had a photo on it so it gave me hope that the photo printing wouldnt be too terrible. I did a test print of one of my photos, and while I wouldnt frame it, it was completely acceptable for a presentation. It probably would have been even better printed on photo paper instead of the plain paper that I had used. This printer accepts plain paper, photo paper, card stock, (post cards) and envelopes. The paper tray holds 250 sheets, which is half a ream of paper, with an added manual feed for other sizes of paper/envelopes. Another thing that I was impressed with is the automatic duplexing…no more taking sheets out and flipping to print the second sides, this does it completely automatically! A feature Id expect on a much more expensive printer. Based on my experience so far, Id definitely recommend this printer. Ill update this after I have to buy toner and see the costs associated with that. {:)

We had previously been buying OkiData printers. Their manufacturing quality and reliability seems to have fallen in the last couple years. Now were buying this HP Laserjet M452dn, three of them so far. In a couple months of use, it has been the bees knees. The color doesnt look quite as good as the rich, vibrant colors of our older Oki printers. But were willing to trade absolute color pop for reliability.

The installation was fine and the duplexing is nice to have, although the paper curls. However the quality of print at small sizes leaves a lot to be desired. I didnt know when I ordered this that it doesnt have PostScript drivers which would probably solve the problem. The price was good at the time, however its dropped even more since my purchase. Honestly there doesnt seem to be much to choose from in this price / performance category so Ive decided to keep it and make it work. HP used to be the go-to brand for lasers - not sure what happened.

Generally speaking, I despise HP products. Took a chance on this because it fit the specs I needed for my home-based business. Held off posting a review until Id used it for my first project, and I gotta say, this model is all thumbs up. I require excellent color rendition, sharp text, photo-quality output for a printer that doesnt cost an arm and a leg. So far, this has delivered it all. Paper handling is great, set up was easy, supplies are readily available. Comes with starter-size toner cartridges which didnt last too long, but not bad. Your choice to reload with ultra-expensive HP toner, or one of the 3rd party toners. I used V4INK 410X for my first reload, and it worked flawlessly, without griping from the printer that "...this is not genuine HP toner..." All in all, this is fine printer when you need quality output in a high-output environment. Just be aware this model does not have wireless, just USB or Ethernet, which is fine for my needs.

If you are looking for an affordable laser printer that prints on polyvinyl waterproof sheet labels, here it is. I returned 6 printers before i found this one that prints the labels without jamming. Set paper type to 200g HP brochure glossy (label setting jams), and Manual feed, and youre good to go! Hurray.
