About the only good thing about this printer/scanner/copier is the form factor, the size is very convenient. This item arrived in the original HP packaging, with one side of the box ripped open and the power cord hanging out of the package. Setup requires an internet connection or an optical drive which is painless if either of those options are available. Once the software was loaded and the printer/scanner/copier connected to your wifi network, item worked as expected. After powering down and restarted this printer/scanner/copier connected to a different network...and required configuration to my wifi network, and has been consistently doing this since its been purchased.....my only recourse has been to turn off the wifi function and using the USB Cable connection, totally unacceptable. Another issue with the print function is using different sizes of paper; ie standard 8-1/2" X 11" paper and then attempting to print an envelop.....its hit or miss, sometime it works perfectly other times total garbage, just wasting envelopes. I would not purchase this item again.

Extremely difficult to install and print, even though using HP toner and drum. Had it for two months after purchase, contacted several tech providers for assistance and they also found it impossible. It appears that all the problems are due to HPs imbedded requirement for authentication. Since there was a previous owner, there was longer a recognized certificate and no longer eligible for service. WE are left with no ability to get it to print, whether connected to the computer or wirelessly. DO NOT Purchase from HP SOHO Consumables. Information provided was useless.

My printer refuses to maintain a secure, reliable wireless connection to my network. I have contacted HP support multiple times to resolve the issue, and every time it is seems to be fixed, it resorts back to its previous state of not being connected. Not only is the wireless connection very unreliable, the USB port connections are also very unreliable. I would not recommend this product for anyones future purchase.

Terrible set up. Been setting up printers for 30 years and never had and experience like this. The instructions, although, in several languages, the english version could not even come close to explaining how to operate this printer. I saw the other negative reviews and thought they were just people who didnt have my experience. Boy, was I wrong. Even customer support didnt know how to set up. By the way, HP doesnt give you the support number on the installation, and even after you get the phone number on the web, they try to not talk to you at all costs. A real shame. HP used to be the gold standard in printers. No more. I returned it and will try another brand

no more color ink cartridges just to be able to print black and white. I specifically paid a lot more than I could have for an inkjet printer just to get away from having to have three working color cartridges just to be able to print documents in black and white... seems the printer companies make all their money on cartridge replacements, so they make it really uneconomical to print in black and white only. Printer is smallish, nice looking, and prints. Didnt come with actual instructions about how to make a copy. On the front panel there is a symbol with a piece of paper, which I pushed, and it started making a copy, I thought. Actually it was scanning, but not printin anything out, even thought the instructions on the screen were about copying. Not until I called HP corporate customer support did I realize the two paper green ink button is the copy button. I learned a new thing also... almost impossible to find the HP customer support phone number when googling. Lots of companies want to charge you to troubleshoot your HP Printer, which is the numbers that come up on a google search The guy at HP told me HP is trying to save money/paper so they dont include an owners manual with the printer... you have to go online to search for it. Here is the actual HP corporate toll free service number: (800) 474-6836 I also have an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978, which has a feeder and duplex color, but uses ink cartridges, which ends up costing about 5 cents per page printed, on average. This laser printer costs less than half that amount in ink (toner). Great option for lots and lots of black and white printing.

Update. This isn’t a great device because it does a lot of things but none of them very well. Increasingly frustrated. It has two separate ink / toner cartridges which have both flashed replace messages and once replaced still flash change and now print blotchy sheets. NO BUENO. If you don’t have a desktop pc connected then scanning a doc is a pain too because the PDF scan needs a connected / pc “home” to store the scan doc. Downgrading from initial high five star impression. You’re better off single function best in class printer but not combo. Also the wireless has tendency to have its own mind... essentially never stays connected. Great value. I had incredibly easy wiresless set up on Verizon router and sending print jobs from iPhone.

It seems like a cheap home printer, not what I have come to expect from HP products for small office use. The wireless printing mostly doesnt work with our setup in the office (I have successfully gotten 1 test page to print wirelessly from a PC one time only), so pretty much functions as a copier only. The clear paper guard top cover always gets stuck in the up position and its so flimsy feeling Im afraid that pushing too hard down will break the whole thing. I dont like the touchpad control at all.

The printer meets expectations for a $100 laser printer. l like that I can click print on my computer and it will start up from sleep mode and print a sheet in about 8 seconds. The quality of printing is average at best. The first few sheets came out fine, but then I started getting a series of small dots about 1 inch apart and 1/2" in from right side of page. I ran the cleaning utility from the menu and the dots were much smaller, but still visible. For my printing needs, I can live with the print quality in exchange for fast start up and saving about $75 per year in inkjet cartridges.

I needed a printer to fit into a very specific weirdly small space in my tiny home office and was pretty excited that this one seemed to fit the bill exactly. Just a heads up: The listed dimensions DO NOT include the paper tray, which sticks out of the front and must live open to print. (I thought the paper magically lived inside it? why doesnt it?) Perhaps this is a no-brainer for some people but I didnt realize it until I received it that with the paper tray sticking out, the workable footprint is actually ~6" deeper than the measurements indicate. IF it would have fit in my space it totally seems like a fine printer and is actually surprisingly sleek looking.
