WARNING! With this new models introduction, HP has quietly changed the print cartridge design to a 2 consumable purchase system! Essentially you are now going to have to purchase twice as many consumables now compared to the previous model (P1102w/p1109w). The drum is now a separate purchase when the printer deems it end of life. This would not immediately be a problem if HP had rated the drums with more page life...they are only rated for 12K pages and then youll need to make a 70 dollar drum purchase in addition to costly toner along the way. Brother Printers have actually used this arrangement for years however HP has touted a one-cartridge system for years and it is now more complicated and can be more costly addressing print quality issues if you plan to keep this printer for years. Recommend you purchase the previous models mentioned or go to the next couple models up in the line that still use the reliable single cartridge/drum system!

I have had the greatest success with HP products, and even recommended this printer to a shopper at Office Depot who was shopping around. I would surely apologize if I ran into her again!! I guess I should have read the reviews first, but since I have owned - and still own - HP products (PC, laptops, printers, scanners, etc.) I absolutely did not expect to have numerous and repeated problems with this printer! (I still have my vintage HP1020 LaserJet.) Except for the fact that the cover sticks when opening, and the paper guide was difficult to install, the set-up was pretty straightforward (different, but okay if directions were followed). The printer finally worked ONCE, and then the trouble started. I spent hours just trying to get the software re-installed from the disc AND using the website! I connected the USB cable when requested (even though I purchased a WIRELESS printer) . After being instructed to use the USB cable for a temporary fix , the cable was not recognized. Foolish me, I thought it was the cable, so I tried several. I downloaded all the drivers and software from the HP website as well as the HP Assistant and Troubleshooter and installed/uninstalled the printer several times, but to no avail! I was so frustrated, and am so disappointed, because my printer now just sits on the shelf unused! I just got the printer in July, but to add insult to injury, the website states I am out of warranty! I surely would appreciate some help with this one!

If youre a Mac owner, dont buy this machine! Since Oct 2016, HP printer software is no longer available through Apple Software Update. Instead, you have to use the convoluted HP Easy Start program thats supposed to download and install the right driver for your printer. Even after 6 tries, it always ends up telling me it "Cannot obtain software information," because it "Cannot connect to server". (My Internet connection through Firefox works just fine for everything else.) The printer now works only because of a fluke in the Mac OS 10.11. Also, the HP Utility App. wont work with this printer and cant be updated to do so. This is the last HP Printer I will ever buy for my Macs, unless HP dramatically changes its attitude on providing its printer software.

I have had this printer for 3 months. I absolutely hate it! I bought it because it replaces the 1102 - which I have and love. This printer prints extra pages every time, it prints pages that I dont want, and sometimes takes as long as 5 minutes to start printing. It is connected with a USB cord, so I am not even using the wireless connection. I wish I had returned it as soon as I started having problems, which was right out of the box!

I was greatly disappointed in the quality of this product. Usually HP does a great manufacturing job, but not with this product. Every time I used it, the actions didnt appear to be functioning correctly. the parts didnt mesh smoothly.

I recently bought 4 of them. Two of them had defective toners that were printing black line and/or black dots along a right side of paper. I returned the first bad printer because HP support suggested I do so. With a second one I troubleshooted it myself, and I proved that it is a toner problem. Obviously the starter toners are not going to last long, yet it should still work right. It sucks when I bring a brand new printer to a client only to find out that it doesnt work as it is supposed to. Then I have to take it back, fix it, and go back to install it. Waste of time. I started buying Brother and Lexmark instead. Yeah, and it doesnt have an ethernet port (hallo 21st century!), and the WiFi cant be disabled. It will keep saturating your already full WiFi spectrum.

Received a defective unit. It would not connect by USB. I was surprised that HP offered no support, not even talking on the phone. Also I noticed that the box seal was broken when received. Bad sign. But of course amazon allowed a pretty painless return, some consolation for all the wasted time.

Very easy to set up and the print quality is excellent. My only gripe is the price of the cartridges. Sort of like the razors and blades. I knew the prices going in so I cannot complain too much.

We really like this printer. There are only two drawbacks for us. First, it is not also a copier. But you cant downgrade the rating for lack of that feature, because it does not advertise to be a copier. The other drawback for us is that we frequently get an "offline" message when trying to print. We have to turn it off, clear the print job, and start over again. That is rather a nuisance. Its basically a good printer for the price. Update: The problem with getting an "offline" message and being unable to print has become more frequent and more difficult to resolve. Dont buy this printer unless you have LOTS of time to spend online trying to find out how to fix it "this" time because what worked in the past no longer works. Its a royal pain to deal with this. We have changed nothing, and it just intermittently goes "offline" for some strange reason, even though there is no problem with the internet connection. We have spent hours and hours dealing with this issue. Were about ready to throw this one in the junk pile, where it belongs!

Its a good printer for the price. I dont like that you have to connect via USB first and then set up the wireless connection. Also, every now and then I hit print and I get an error box saying the printer is not ready (wireless connection through router). I then have to open the app and go to printer settings to show current status of printer as ready. Then I can print. Its happened a couple of times that Ive had to delete and reinstall printer in order for it to work. Needless to say, thats extremely annoying.
