If you want to print envelopes, or any other paper size, get the 4730 or 4740, so you have two trays. There is no single sheet feed function, so you have to empty the paper tray, reset the guides, print, and change it back to letter size. Other than that, very happy with the printer and scanner functions. It appears that the printer comes with full standard size ink cartridges, rather than the "starter" size some companies like. Particularly helpful since the 802 cartridges (which are as new as the printer) are still somewhat scarce. I am running this on an ethernet connection, and can print and scan to any computer on the wifi network in the house.

Im really frustrated right now. Just got the printer three days ago and Im about ready to put it in the box and send it back. The day I got it, I printed out black and white text, no problem. Two days ago, I printed out more black text, it was a breeze. Today Im printing color. Its a PITA. Im trying to print on 8.5 x 11 plain paper, making mini posters. No big deal, right? Except when I print them, they print with lines. (see photo). In order to not get those lines, I have to print it as if it were a photo with borderless printing. This is a problem on two levels, the printer doesnt like to print borderless on plain paper which means you have to stand there and push buttons to tell it print on plain paper. Borderless printing also means it uses a TON of ink. So after owning the printer for three days, Im already almost out of color ink. Keep in mind, today is the first, and only, day Ive printed in color. Ive ordered more ink because I have to finish this project, but as soon as Im done printing, provided I have enough ink to finish, Im probably going to return the printer. Ive had Epson printers before and this is the first time I have been truly disappointed.

I got an error code 031008. Twice within seven months. The first time, I called up tech support and the printer worked again without tech support doing anything. I think I just turned it on and off and it worked. About two months later, I got this error code again. I tried turning it on and off multiple times (following the instruction on screen) but it just kept coming back to the same screen. I called up tech support and after tyring to diagnose the issue, the tech support had me email the purchase receipt. I bought it off Amazon so I downloaded the receipt and emailed it. After being on hold back and forth tech support told me that they will not honor the warranty because it was through a 3rd party seller. What? I didnt know what he was talking about. He said the receipt showed it was through a 3rd party. Well, why should that matter? I bought it through Amazon! Besides, the warranty service says one year, original purchaser, and in the US, AND I provided the receipt. Additionally I bought a WF-3620 earlier so this is my second Epson printer. That WF-3620 also bricked and Epson sent me a replacement printer without a problem. It was because of that ease of warranty replacement that I bought a newer Epson printer. After this latest issue and not honoring the warranty, I will not be buying an Epson printer again. 2 issues with 2 different printers + crappy NO WARRANTY service + costly ink price = BE WARNED!!

First, let me say that I generally buy Epson printers and have found them to be reliable and capable...not so with the WF-4720. This is the first Epson printer that I am truly disappointed in, to the point that I will probably replace it with an HP. Issues: 1. The wireless function is unreliable. It often drops connectivity and the printer will show up in Windows as "offline." I have had to uninstall and reinstall the printer (in Windows) in order to get the printer to reconnect. 2. The oversize black cartridge is unreliable. The oversize black cartridge is designed to extend into the slot to the left of the normal size cartridge. The cartridge will wiggle loose causing the printer to lose contact with the electrical connection and indicate that the cartridge is not recognized. I re-seat the cartridge and let it go through its initialization to clear the problem. 3. The scanning function only saves 1 page. I have tried this with both the Epson Scan 2 utility and a directly inserted memory stick. All pages are scanned, but only the first page is saved. Positives: 1. The print speed is very fast

I just bought this printer about 2 months ago and I liked it during that time but now I am getting the error message "031008." Googling did not turn up any easy fixes and the error makes the printer a giant paper weight. I e-mailed support and will change my review if they are able to fix it without me having to pay someone to do so.

I wanted a replacement for a Canon all-in-one that we used for household printing in color (we have an old Brother laser printer for black-and-white documents). The Canon was fine for a few years, but eventually the printheads clogged to the point where they wouldnt clean. The startup time to print on the Canon was also painfully slow. The Epson WF-4720 time to print the first page is amazing - click print to printed paper in like 5 seconds, even if I havent used the printer in a few days. Its much faster getting the first page out than the laser printer, and continues to spit pages out at a remarkable rate. The scanning operation with the document feeder is really nice; quick, and its obvious where the scanned document file went (not so much with the Canon). It also scans direct to pdf format, which is quite convenient. Color printing is not quite up to the Canon, which had six color inks, but its more than good enough for document printing. I havent tried printing on photo paper yet; Im sure it would be much better, but we dont seem to print photos that much any more. The copier functionality is also excellent. All in all, a really nice printer at a great price (I got it on sale for $100).

This is the worst piece of garbage, and Ive been using Epson Printers since the 1980s! They dont include a user guide, ok if you want to read small print on a screen, but not when you need to set up or troubleshoot. Theres only 1 paper cassette, so if you have a letter with an envelope you have to keep changing paper, but then you cant just do that...you have to go to the printer and punch in stuff on the printer screen. Further, their initial software doesnt let you set up the fax and scanner. The calls to Epson are ridiculous. They treat end users like morons. I cant believe whats happened to this company.

Just stopped working after 6 months The most unreliable printer ever. Just hours lost rebooting it due to random error messages. Paper jams. When I am travelling the family is stuck trying to figure this printer out. Very disappointing Epson.. And since this is purchased via amazon I am not even trying to loose hours trying to get this fixed by I don’t know who to contact.

I like the printer for the most part--quiet, quick, but unlike my prior epson workforce (3000 series); this one does not copy or scan double sided. It does print double sided, which is good; but my old workforce copied double sided (or make double sided to one sided) and scanned double sided. It has asked to update the firmware at least 2 times in a few weeks...hoping it wont continue all the time with updates every two weeks. After less than 2 years, the automatic feeder does not work properly--its a real pain to scan individual sheets for a multi-page document! The feeder gears are not pulling properly. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt--so exasperating. My old one Epson gave me no problems. I may be headed back to HP for my next printer!

It was hard to find just the basic printer drivers, as the "regular" drivers are filled with useless bloatware. The printer works fine, prints quickly and accurately, but randomly gives an error that says something along the lines of fatal error, restart printer. Which is annoying because then I have to go over to the printer, restart it, and send the job again. Docking 2 stars because the printer should not get an error while idling.
