Epson (WF-7720) Inkjet Printer with C/M/Y Standard Capacity Cartridges

Coming from an old HP all in one (dont buy HP), this unit has been a dream. Printing is fast and reliable, the software isnt a nuisance (except the fax items) and it just works. Even after installing a separate ink module to extend the ink life which had plenty of issues, it still beats on like a drum. The biggest complaint is the bed scanning to file. First, its a little annoying to set up your destination (you have to save it as a contact...huh?). But thats not the worst part and easy after its done. No, its the orientation thats the most annoying. Typically youd approach the printer scanner from the front and assume any orientation choices would be relative to that direction. But with this scanner, its turned counter clockwise 90 degrees as the point of reference, basically the same as the auto feeder tray for a standard 8.5x11. This gets frustrating when scanning lots of documents or pictures because its always a guessing game, especially when you use the Auto Sizing feauture (as opposed to choosing the exact pic/doc size each time) which automatically determines which orientation youve got and you have no choice. Its the most frustrating thing about the printer. And a 2nd place is if you save a custom scan present (say for the bed scanner) and try to use it with the auto feeder, you get a message that you have to start from scratch and make a new present, specifically for that scanning source. Its really too bad they couldnt have had a more nimble algorithm that could apply the features of one source to another. However, these issues happen for maybe 5% of your usage and the rest of the time it rocks.

Unfortunately we dont have wireless access to use all the features of this printer. We ended up hardwiring it but it works great. We also wanted a scanner that would scan to a thumb drive and this does that. Love the two 500 sheet trays. Two sided printing and two sided scanning works awesome no need to flip the paper to print the other side. 11 X 17 printing and copying will allow us to make some of our own posters. Great options for a reasonable priced printer. We are very pleased with our purchase. It also has fax capabilities but we do not have access in our small country church. Very easy to set up.

I purchased it for the 11 x 17 capabilities as well as to have just one printer instead of two. Appears to work fine but I havent figured out how to scan from the machine to the computer. It works good when controlling it from the computer (load docs then go to computer to scan), but cant get it to work when I try from the printer. Quality of Print is good. Concerned about the ink supply, but it seems to be holding up so far and have spare on hand. UPDATE: Ive now had this printer for 3 months and just replaced the black ink cartridge (the one they shipped with it, which is smaller than normal). Very happy with it and I use it for 11 x 17 prints mostly. Ive updated to 4-1/2 stars and would get five if I could figure out how to scane from the printer to the computer.

The printer is great for me. It’s my first reliable inkjet printer and it has a lot of functionality that businesses need. If you want to scan to your email address, you can type in the email server information manually using scan to email or you can use scan to cloud to scan to any email address you want without typing in the email server information manually. You can only print borderless prints in the first and rear trays and you can only print up to 13x19 in the rear tray. You can only print one 13x19 print at a time, so make sure there is one peice of paper in the rear tray at a time. It uses a lot of ink, you will only be able to print less than 10 full color, double sided 11x17 prints and less than 5 13x19 prints on XL ink cartridges. It comes with standard ink cartridges, so you have to buy additional ink if you know you are going to need more. The flat bed scanner can scan up to 11x17 at a resolution up to 600 dpi and the feeder can do the same. The flat bed scanner would be better to use for scanning photos and the feeder would be better for documents that are single or double sided. The document feeder can scan both sides of a document without intervention. This printer also operates as a FAX, which is easy to set up. Since the printer has so many settings, you might get overwheled when navigating the settings on the touch screen display. It might be easier to access the printer’s settings from your web browser and change settings from there. I have a Wired connection from my router to the printer, but it has Wireless capability that may not be as stable as a Wired connection. I have never experienced a disconnect when the printer is using a Wired connection. Please note that I am giving this printer a 4-star rating because there are limitations that aren’t specified in the product description.
