Ive had this printer only 2 days but like it very much. Im so tech challenged but was able to set it up with no help just by following directions 1 step at a time. This is my first Epson, after having HPs only. i could easily address greeting card envelopes on the HP, but not so with this printer (thats why the 4 stars, not 5). I havent yet given up on that task, though. I recommend this printer. I was told it was out of stock but got it in about a week. Be prepared, its too heavy for a senior to handle alone. Or others, probably.

I purchased this as a second sublimation printer, I already own a Sawgrass Virtuoso 400. I needed the 13x19 wide format size for the larger sublimation projects. I purchased the sublimation inks from Cobra Ink (no endorsement) and it has exceeded my expectations. Photos are examples of items I sublimated a few hours after setting up the printer. I actually think the colors are more vibrant than my Sawgrass printer! This is a review on using this Epson as a Sublimation printer. not a regular inkjet printer.

I am updating an earlier 1-star review, in light of some updates, which I explain briefly below + I then include my observations on the "pluses and minuses". First, the reason for the 1-star previous review and the update. I ran out of ink (see more on this later) and ordered replacement cartridges. Based on the suggestions here on Amazon, I bought both color and black and white. Turns out that as I was going based on a search for this printer model (WF-7710), the cyan XL (for greater capacity) version came at "702" and NOT (what is compatible) "252" and I failed to notice this upon ordering or installing (of note, the cartridge form factor is exactly like the cyan 252 - in other words 702 WONT fit in magenta or yellow in WF-7710, but it will to cyan, just like 702 - whats the point of having 2 identically shaped cyan cartridges that only differ in their chip?). The confusion then was made graver by the printers handling of error messages. It wouldnt say that it is an incompatible cartridge. It gives you a red X marked error message, which looks nearly IDENTICAL between the "cannot recognize" and the "need to replace" messages (attached). So when I placed the old 252 OR when I inserted the new 702 I saw these similar messages. When I searched the internet I saw that people often found this printer not recognizing cartridges (compatible ones) and there is a 16-step walk-through that includes even bending the pins in the printer (to contact/connect with the chip contacts) straight, using alcohol to wipe all the contacts, hard reset, etc. So I tried that all, not recognizing that 702 was just incompatible and my old 252 was just completely spent (as opposed to the magenta - you can see on the attached picture - that is not a red X but a yellow exclamation mark type error, which contributed to the confusion, because I figured that when it doesnt recognize the cartridge it would be the yellow exclamation, whereas the red X is for not recognizing the cartridge). Again, in great part this is my bad, therefore definitely not fair to mark down the whole printer to 1 star over it. Below is my far review completely apart from the cartridge fiasco. The good: 1. This is a dependable printer with not too many errors or issues, which readily connects to your WiFi or LAN/Ethernet network. I have multiple subnets, switches, and hubs in my house, including my main WiFi home network being the Google Mesh, which assigns its subnet and IP addresses under that, different from the IP sub-domain of the main LAN. This led to the printer put on the Google WiFi not being visible/accessible from our desktops, which were on the LAN. What I had to do to circumvent this was to put the primary access point of the Google mesh into the office, use its throughput feature to feed a wired/LAN connection to a switch (to which then Google assigned IP addresses on its own sub-domain) and connect the desktops to that switch. So both desktops now see the printer now + it remains also accessible to any mobile device (phone, tablet) that connects to the Google WiFi. 2. Which takes me to the 2nd "plus" here, which is wireless/mobile printing. I used to have an HP OfficeJet 8710 and used their mobile printing platform, which went through the cloud and sucked. The print form factor and overall quality was such that we never actually used this feature. On the other hand, when the Epson mobile print app is running on your mobile device, it can effectively print anything from your handheld - attached PDF files for example. I really like this feature and it definitely seems like an upgrade from HP. The bad: 1. My wife and I are very low volume users, weeks go by between prints and even then we print usually 1-2 page documents, almost never color. With such very low volume use, since April 2018 (I am writing this review in November 2018, so little over 1/2 year usage, really) we managed to run out of our black and (as discussed above) our cyan, with the magenta about to go any minute, and the yellow being very low as well. I did not count the pages we printed, but just as many people complained, it is true that ink usage isnt exactly economical. 2. Compared to the HP interface I am used to, the computer interface (we are Windows users and have 5 PCs between the 2 of us, 2 desktops, 2 laptops, and 1 surface tablet) for scanning is cumbersome. One particular area where it sucks is the folder selection. I always have my folders open in various Windows Explorer windows, from which I used to easily copy-paste the folder path to whatever interface I need to specify the "save to" location/path. The "Epson Scan 2" interface wont let you do this - you will have to manually navigate each time you wish to change the target folder. And this is in the 21st century, the age of AI, where my TV shows me targeted commercials, they cant have a list of favorite folders prompted and/or have an easy copy-paste for the path to be entered. 3. Talking cumbersome, the menu on the printer display is not very user friendly either. As I mentioned above, I was struggling a bit setting up the printer across all our devices, with a variety of sub-domains and I needed to quickly check what IP address the printer was drawing. The HP has an easy network settings display available 2nd down from the main menu, but the WF-7710 has a very difficult to access, hidden area where you can display the IP, while if you "print network settings", it will produce a 4 pages long single-sided document each time, which is a huge waste of paper. They should instead make it very easy to show the IP settings on the display. 4. The BIGGEST minus of this printer is that the ADF is almost entirely dysfunctional. I say almost entirely, because if you want to use the ADF for a single page, only 1 sided, then it works - but so would the scanner glass do the job for that. If it needs to turn it around (2-sided) it may work (or works most but not all of the time), but it NEVER works for multiple page scans. Not once, not ever, not even by accident, and I have a large sample size as I kept trying for many many times. No matter how you separate the pages, no matter how they are not stuck together, it just takes in multiple pages. If you put say 20 pages there, it would take 4-5. If you have 2 pages, it will scan them together EVERY time. I mean I had several printers in the past with ADF and almost every one will take multiple pages together if they are particularly stuck together. Normally what you need to do then is to separate them, perhaps wrinkle a bit, make sure they are not perfectly aligned at the edges, feed again, and most of the time youre good. Not with this printer, not ever. It will ALWAYS take the multiple pages no matter what you do. Whats the point of having an ADF then??

After the setup instructions are navigated...great printing and really flexible for paper/envelope choices. Brand new, so far, but great to be confident in a printer!!!

Very good all-in-one printer with an excellent Display and controls. Seems well built tiltable control panel is a great feature so you can angle it to suit your comfort. I did get a double feed on a printout that ruined the copy but only once (so far). I hope it was just a fluke but my paper tray had pristine paper that was carefully installed according to their instructions. One complaint is that they sell you the printer with tiny SAMPLE capacity cartridges only. They will last a short time before we have to dish out another $75 for more ink. That is like BAIT and Switch trickery that consumers DO NOT APRECIATE! So, I deduct 1 star for that nasty marketing tactic. All printers should come with REGULAR capacity Ink.

The hardware i.e. the actual printer itself is nice. The driver software will have you pulling your hair out consulting web forums right from the get-go. You would think that one could simply put in the disk, load the software and boom youre done - NOT. After you have waited an infinity for all the driver software to load, then you get to the money shot - actually getting your computer and the printer to talk to each other, it FAILS. At that point, you consult the forums and get a work around. OK you are in business. Then the printer tells you that a firmware update is available. So, you fool, you update it. Next thing you know, no printing, your computer tells you the printer is offline. Forum says NEVER UPDATE THE FIRMWARE. If you do, the offline problem occurs and to fix it, you have to uninstall/reinstall the drivers (with the above mentioned problems, but now you know the workaround) to get it back in business. What kind of poorly paid displaced American workers do they have writing this software, GEEZ? Had I known how much frustration I was going to be dealing with, I never would have bought this printer. I am letting you know. dear reader, to avoid my pain.

It is a humongous printer and literally prints off about 15 color copies before it runs out of 1 of the color ink cartridges. It’s terrible!! I hate ours and will never buy anything similar again. DON’T DO IT!! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRINTER!!

Ive set this up with a CISS from ebay and the Printer Jack inks here on Amazon. This printer connected to my network with no problems, and using the Epson manager, I have destinations set up for my Google Drive and my email, so any scanned images shoot right over with no fiddling and no cables. Scans very well, prints beautifully and I love that its got such a large format in case I decide to move onto printing canvases or larger prints. Im very happy with this! BE AWARE, this takes up a lot of desk real estate. When I got the box, I was hoping it had a ton of padding in it or some kind of prize inside that was taking up room. Nope. Its just a massive printer. Check the dimensions in the listing here because I had to find an alternate spot to my original plan. It easily takes up a quarter of my 3x6 foot work table. Worth it. And the price keeps dropping!

The paper feeder stopped working on my first print job. This thing is HUGE so I put it on my dresser. Youll have to keep that in mind because it wont fit on regular printer stands and it is HEAVY. The setup was EASY but it did take about 30 minutes. I just used wifi. Then it had a hardware failure 2 weeks into owning it. Amazon was happy to replace it or return it. Amazon said Epson was telling them 2-3 weeks before a new one would be able to ship because they were out of stock. Epson themselves said they could ship one in 2 days. Problem was I also got the 4 year warranty from Square Trade. If you get a replacement from Epson you start a new one year warranty with them and dont get the EXTENDED coverage. Ok, look folks, you dont want to skip on that warranty bit or cut corners because apparently this is a KNOWN issue with this model. Its cheaply and poorly made/designed in that one bit that went wrong on me. It started saying the paper casette was empty when it wasnt. Then if I tried again it wasnt sucking the paper up into the main bit and instead just kept jamming. KEEP THE BOX! Its HUGE and the printer takes a man to struggle to carry it anywhere you want it. If yours dies on you too youll need the box to return it or have to go to Walmart to get a medium sized packing box and materials to return it. And because it is so big youll want a pickup from a carrier, but taking it back down and repackaging it and getting it back out your door isnt as easy as with most products on Amazon. Im a small woman so thats relative to me and if I didnt have a Male roommate it would have been much harder. Thats 3 stars for Amazon and Epson service in their response to the dilemma. Setup, like I said, was a cinch, just a series of easy steps and seamless. That being said, yeah, Epson BETTER BE happy to address it immediately particularly when they really failed what could and should have been a fantastic beast of printer by cutting corners for which the rest of us have to COMPENSATE. I felt really bad for my PRINTER. Not to mention, folks, if youre gonna use that many resources to design something to FAIL out of the gate theres something seriously wrong with your logic and VALUES. And then the buck gets passed to us and Amazon or Square Trade to deal with it because EPSON knows it would otherwise be INSANE to warranty this printer given its FAILURE RATE. If it goes wrong on ya and you have to return it and want an exchange for the same unit consider that because you need to keep a warranty on it and if you go through Epson to get it done you can end up regretting it if it fails again on you past the 30 day from Amazon or Epsons one year. Conversely I actually had a Canon Pixma MG6220 that I bought in 2011. Yeah! 8 years ago. I had it sitting here in a box and ASSUMED at the least Id have to get new ink for it or it wouldnt print as well. Folks, after i shipped that Epson back I fired the Canon up expecting NOTHING. It didnt just work like a DREAM, but after that long of no use it immediately printed, as in even the INK that sat that long UNUSED worked and it immediately connected to the internet and my Galaxy Note 8 with FAR LESS FUSS! Epson customer me felt DUMB! Canon customer me felt BRILLIANT! Amazon customer me always feels great because all of me can trust that even if it goes wrong, Amazon is gonna make it right. And why Epson has one to send direct, but not one for Amazon to correct and exchange it immediately for me is "huh?!"

The worst printer I ever had... Always with error problems... There is the paper and the printer says to charge the paper or to load correctly... usually it doesnt print the multiple pages of a document... it makes a lot of noise
