I was initially excited to find this printer, because I seemed to do everything: print larger paper sizes, photos and even CDs. In the end, I have been disappointed. It does print CDs fairly well, although there is usually a slight misalignment of the image on the disc. It also prints photographs, although figuring out how to get the printed colors to correspond to the true colors is quite complex and difficult. You can waste a lot of paper and ink trying to get it right. My biggest complaint stems from the fact that my printer broke with a loud pop when feeding paper, after owning it only a month. I had printed very few pages on it up to that time. The local repair busines seems to be going out of business and the next closest one is several hours away from me. When I contacted Epson Service, they told me to take it to a repair center, and if that didn’t fix the problem, I could get back to them in (not within!) 45 days. It seems like they want to eat up as much of the warranty period as possible. I think they should take responsibilty for replacing this printer with one that works, but they don’t agree. So buyer beware. I think I should have gotten the CD writer and printer separately, and possibly from a different company.

I was initially excited to use this printer and anxiously awaited its arrival. Upon set up I was unable to get it to connect to my internet. I tried multiple times even following the manual set up instructions, uninstalled and re-installed. Unfortunately nothing worked and I can only print by being directly connected to the printer. (Strike one) Next came the print test. While the print quality was smooth it lacked the vividness I was expecting from this high dollar printer. So I did a print test to compare with old HP Envy and like I mentioned above the only benefit of the Epson over the HP is the smoothness of the color transition. The images are the same size, printed on the same paper, best print setting was used on both and sealed with the same spray sealant. The color on the HP is sheer and vivid while the Epsons color was muted and dull. (Strike 2). For the cost I expect the print quality and colors to striking and vivid, and to far outshine my $30 HP (Strike 3). Im very disappointed with the printer and will be returning it.

Two things: 1. This printer just prints dark. Needs a lot of trial and error and calibration. 2. A rebate was offered on this purchase. When the machine arrived, no paperwork or other mention of the rebate. Theres no indication on my invoice or order summary. Im a long time Prime member and just feel cheated on this one.

This printer goes through the Optimizer ink every 20 pages which becomes very expensive. Right now, July 2017, you cant even buy the ink because it is backorder until the end of August. Epson CRS and Corporate office dont seem to know why this is a problem and doesnt offer any solution. I am filing a complaint with the ES DA - Consumer Affairs office. This printer has some type of infraction and should be recalled.

UPDATED REVIEW (2019): I exchanged the previous printer. The replacement printer has worked quite satisfactorily and has not delivered any unwarranted errors. - PREVIOUS REVIEW (2018): Extremely disappointed with this purchase. During first day of use (and after reading the manual fully), I received innumerable errors - from paper jams to unrecoverable errors.

So far I am very happy with tbe P400. Can actually print on luster and semi-gloss again with no banding and not wasting huge amounts of paper and ink.

Does a terrific job printing photographs. With the addition of a new color, orange, the colors are truer and brighter. Photo prints look like they just came from a professional lab.

Prints beautifully when it chooses to print. Keeps wanting to act like there is no paper or has a paper jam when it has plenty of paper and no paper jam. This is rediculous! I have never had such persistent problems with a printer before. Very disappointed Epson.

Love this printer ! 13 x 19 format is great! Had a problem with one inkjet port and Epson replaced the printer overnight and have had no further problems. I own an art gallery and use the printer to print artist promos and to proof ads. Cartridges are absurdly expensive, but print quality is superb.

EDIT: Changing rating from 5 stars to 3 stars. This is an ink guzzler. I only use the Photo Black ink but still have to replace all the ink cartridges frequently because Epson is in the ink business, not the printer business. We got this printer to replace the Epson 1430 that we had in our screen printing shop for printing separations on inkjet film. We use AcuRIP software and this printer came recommended by Ryonet. Set up was easy enough and the wireless printing is better than the 1430s. This printer seems to print a little bit quicker too. With AcuRIP, I have the Matte black and Photo black selected and it gets the job done. Were hoping that this one lasts longer than the 1430 did for us (which was about a year). We got the 4 year protection plan this time around just in case. If youre needing a printer for your art separations for screen printing, this works well and it comes with attachments for rolls of film. However, we removed the roll as there is no automatic cutter on this printer. Not a big deal, just something to be aware of.
