This printer was recommended to me for photos and only using for this purpose. I was excited to finally print all my pictures but after 2 prints in a row, the pixels were blurry and colors too light. I also get an error code every time I print saying that I don’t have the right photo printer and I have to bypass it each time. Super annoying.

In theory this should work pretty well. The web install is an ok idea and works up to a point. Problem is I could not get this unit to scan. I was able to install the printer, get it connected to my network and computer, but no scan. I read a few support articles on the Canon site about disabling IPv6 (was already disabled) but it simply doesnt work. Im running Mojave so maybe that has something to do with it but this is going back.

This is sad - I purchased a Canon printer for $85 from Target 4 years ago and it worked great. I got this one and it wont print without shutting the printer off and on and fussing to get it to print. Canon website is idiotic, the one thing everyone needs is support, but no, were inundated with a lot of nonsense no-one needs to know. How about providing a support database of errors so I can look it up and troubleshoot it? Well, looks like another reputable company losing their way, making money off the backs of their customer base and not providing quality. Sad.

Dont waste your time with this printer. During setup, it was convinced that there was a paper jam. There was none. Got a replacement from Amazon. During setup of the second printer, upon turning it on for the first time, the printer made a large clicking noise and then indicated that there was a foreign object in the printer. Also, the instructions are horrible. I didnt make it past step 3, but the device had already deviated from the instructions.

Not sure why people are having setup issues, if you follow the directions correctly setup is a breeze. I had it out of the box and printing in less than 45 minutes. Never used the cd, just downloaded the .exe from Cannon, which is an option the setup guide has. The 1* reviews are way too harsh. The installation automatically binds the printer to your wifi, removing the need to find it and enter a password. Photo print quality is surprisingly good for a printer that costs less than 100 bucks. I like that you can have photo paper and print paper loaded simultaneously. The app for the iPhone works just as advertised. iPhone pictures print to 4x6 glossy flawlessly. And, its nice and compact. Seriously, its a good buy.

Finally, a home printer that works!! Until now, I have had the worst luck with basic, color, home printers ; bad quality printing and replacement ink cartridges that don’t work (even the brand name ones). This Canon PIXMA printer was easy to set up, easy for my iPhone and iPad to find, and excellent quality for printing recipes, flight/travel/order confirmations, and the occasional photo!!! I didn’t order it for photo printing, but tried one out for fun and it is like high-quality photo processing! The last home printer I had would blur lines every inch or so, so I couldn’t count on it at all. With this Canon, we were able to print out our Passport renewal forms. The ink has lasted OK, considering the excellent quality, especially for the included ink. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I probably expected too much from Canon, because I have used their products most of my life. After my trusty Canon workhorse printer displayed an error message forcing service or replacement, I opted for a quick fix. This printer works fine on a limited scale. It can be networked, it can print double-sided, and it does a solid job on photos. But it is SLOW and the plastic parts are flimsy. It also blows through $50.00 of ink before you use one ream of paper. If you produce a lot of documents, complete a hefty tax return, or print more than a ream a week, this is NOT even a temporary solution for you. Spend the extra money and buy something that will produce and last a few years.

Overall I am very happy with this printer. I have been used to one from Epson so am still getting used to using it- they are very different!!! Have not given it 5 stars because the rear paper holder does not keep multiple sheets of paper aligned when printing more than 1 sheet at a time, also make sure to load bottom paper holder exactly as per Canon instructions or papers will jam. Print quality for everything i have done so far has been excellent, far better than my old printer ever had!

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, you know the rest. For me comin number two...Color quality is good but it is a very cheaply built unit, much like the first, Be prepared for constant paper jam, error messages that don’t make sense like “load paper” when the tray is full. Paper loading is much of the issue. It’s so poorly built the printer doesn’t register the tray. If anyone out there is aware of a decent photo printer please let me know.

I did a lot of research trying to find a replacement for my Canon Pixma MG7500 series which died too soon. I almost abandoned Canon but took a chance on this printer and Im so glad I did. This printer is better in every way than my old Pixma: - the print quality is far better for both photos and text, photos look amazing - its faster, - its quieter, - the rear tray and photo tray make printing headshots and photos easier (no sharing with regular paper), - the network is stable especially with my mac/iOS household. No more turning it off and on after if falls asleep. - the touch panel is faster and better designed. Its nice to see that Canon improved on everything that was wrong on the last generation of Pixma printers. Highly recommend.
