Unable to receive faxes automatically. Lots of time on phone between canon and my phone carrier - canon said its a phone carrier issue, phone carrier said its a canon issue. I agree with phone carrier as regular phone worked when plugged in that jack and so did my HP all-in-one fax. So retuning canon and ordering another HP fax.
Scanner will not feed without jamming, even when you only try and scan a few pages. If scanning is what you are buying this device for, get something different. Supplier shipped quickly and it arrived on time.
I wrote this almost a year ago and not sure that I posted it - "very few things make me more angry or frustrated than spending money on technology and struggling to get the basic functionality to perform. Its ridiculous." Setting the printer up was hard enough with minimal instructions and rubbish, tiny diagrams. Theres some Canon app which they tried to get me to download. I use Apple/iOS and have never had these issues before. A year later using the printer has been almost as pleasurable as setting it up. There is really nothing to recommend this printer. Every aspect of using it is worse than HP, which I used previously. I am technologically fairly literate but this thing isnt worth the time. And then theres the whole lawsuit with Amazon over ink so you have to buy ink from their store, which is about as friendly as their printer. Hard to find the supplies. HP was easy. And there seem to be so many different Canon printers and ink types youll never find it in Staples.
Absolutely the worst printer on the market! Ink smudges everywhere with the original Canon Toner (Not an off brand which usually is the cause for poor quality prints) Has printed poorly right out of the box. I will be returning this large piece of junk. Waste of time and huge waste of money. Terrible product. Dont say you havent been warned....
After trying 2 of these printers and having Amazon send me 2 more because Canon themselves wouldnt do anything other than offer a refurbished unit I am done with this product. I have used a previous similar model for years with no issues, however this model will not pick up for incoming faxes no matter how I have it set up unless I know for a fact a fax is coming, and am able to hit the hook button. I have gone through the settings multiple times to no avail. It also refuses to scan as a pdf no matter how many times I set PDF to default it still scans as a JPG. Dont bother with this its garbage.
This printer simple doesnt work at all. I installed the printer driver and send command to printer it shows printer error in the queue. Then, I tried to Copy function and it always paper jam. Had to open the toner cover to fix jam even though the Jam paper has been pulled off. The upper cover is too heavy and it has to smash back and one time smashed on my finger. The worst experience I ever have for Canon printer and I also have to pay $9 to return the extra Toner originally bought for this printer.
Hasnt accurately faxed since it was set up. Then it wouldnt wake up from energy saving mode to receive a fax without turning it off and back on again. Sending it back. Had a Canon imageCLASS D680 for 14 years and aside from the document feeder on top not working correctly for the last 12 years or so, its been very reliable until now. Thats why I want to stick with Canon. I know that one originally cost a lot more than the one I am returning so I am ordering a more expensive model.
This was a mistake to purchase. The setup instructions are poorly communicated and the build quality is pathetic. Lots of plastic parts banging together loudly. There are better choices in the market. Choose something else and spare yourself headaches.
