I am experiencing buyers regret. Had I known that the full set of toner cartridges would cost over $500 I would not have bought this monster. Its a nice machine for sure. Set up was dead easy. It prints! It copies! It does what its supposed to do. Maybe toner prices will come down?

You know the old saying, "You get what you pay for?" well if you want perfect color copies, it is far cheaper and faster than the ink jets I had before. I decided to finally get rid of my Epson workforce printer, which worked OK for a few years but of course always problems with lines, cleaning print heads, etc. and the cost of the cartridges! Well I took the plunge and bought this. It works great! I use it at home, not at office, and dont print loads of things every month, but when I do it does the job well. I have had no wifi connection problems in sleep mode at all. I tried from phone, ipad and computer, all printed fine no problem. Worth the extra cost compared to an ink jet if you ask me. It may not be for everyone, but I have found laser printers superior over all to ink jets. If you just do black and white, definitely get a low cost black only laser. So fast and also cost efficient.

We previously had Brother DCP-7030 printer which was working flawlessly. However, it was close to the end of its service (got it 11 years ago), so print quality was dismal, and the drum was near its end for the third or forth time. My daughters are students and they print a lot. My wife also prints a lot, so after some research decided to get this Canon MF device. The print speed is very good; at 28ppm, and fast jobs start it is very convenient. Scanner and copied are good too. Very convenient to scan multiple double-sided pages. There is a catch though: with the driver from the included disk, scan driver sometimes (often) did not work spitting error messages that the scanner is not attached etc. With the driver from Canon website, everything works as it should. So the first thing to do is to update the firmware and use the latest driver from Canons website. Then there are no regrets. All in all, a solid good machine. A bit bulky and heavy, but we had room for it.

My printer can today. I set it up after the UPS man and I drug it into my apartment. It is heavy!!! Unwrapped it followed the directions and set it up for wireless printing. Quick and easy. Now for the bad part... My CD ro m would not read the software install. Called Canon and down loaded the software I needed as an agent helped me Real time. Installed everything and wham up and running. Easy to use! Bologna that the cost of toner goes down as I am sure it will.

So much faster than my Epson EcoTank, (this one spits out up to 28 PPM; I was lucky to get 1/2 that from the Epson). On top of that, the print quality is superior. I wouldnt be able to tell with just documents, but photos are rendered so much better on this Canon than what Im used to. Also, its rated to meet the needs of just about any house and most small businesses, up to 4k pages per month. The one-pass duplex scanner is awesome; just didnt realize how much faster and more efficient it would make the process. Combine all of this with the economy of the laser toner cartridges and you have a win/win. Beyond this, the programmable touch screen reminds me of the corporate-sized printers at work, except this one I can program to meet my needs instead of regularly digging through the same menus. I dont use my phone to print, so I cant comment on the NFC use, but overall wireless setup was easy, (I wont say plugnplay because you need to DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE FIRST! Not immediately plug it into the USB, (theres a danger tag and plug in the USB port to keep you honest, so this isnt a surprise). The only thing to be aware of is the footprint of this monster. It really is an 18" cube, so it is a bit more substantial than many printers; its worth checking to see if it will fit your space.

I would rate this alot higher if the canon website would allow me to register for warranty. It has a product page but there is no way to enter this model to register it

This all-in-one cost less than my last color laser printer by itself, and it includes a scanner too (allowing me to retire my old Epson scanner). I have not used it very much yet, just 2 test prints, but it works great and it was very easy to set up. Just follow the instructions, and you are up and running in a few minutes.

This all in one is as good as my office machine, and it has great output and speed capabilities. The machine is a bit bulky and heavy so its kind of weirdly too big for a desk or table, but too small to be freestanding. I wish there was a stand or other way to display the machine as the various lids and flaps can take up precious real estate if there are any other things on or around the surface near the machine. Color printing is very accurate. Ive had a few errors spit out using the bonjour printer communication protocol via my macbook pro, but printing from PCs seems to be completely problem free, along with network sharing. I wish the trays had a bit more capacity for large scale home jobs, but in terms of speed, precision and jam free operation, this thing is a winner.

This Canon printer is ideal for a small home office. The printer is a good quality device, solidly built and has the traditional Canon print quality. The unit is large – very large. I had to place it on a small printer stand because it wouldn’t fit in the cabinet where my old Brother (Black and White) printer sat. Weighing in at over 50 pounds, you need to be careful moving this printer around. There was little to actually assemble – setting up was mostly removing a large amount of tape holding various panels together. There was one plastic piece about 1” wide and about a foot long in the parts box that I never could figure out what to do with. Setup was simple. I plugged In the power cord connected an Ethernet cable to my switch and turned it on. Date/time settings were done right on the control panel. The menu system for the Control Panel is fairly intuitive. Wi-Fi setup was also fairly easy, but this highlights the one issue I have with this printer. You can only run one network connection at a time; either Ethernet or Wi-Fi, but not be set up for both. This means when I want to print off my phone I need to switch the network connection in the control panel from wired to wireless. I would much prefer the ability to print off Wi-Fi when an appropriate source is available while staying connected via an Ethernet cable. Using the enclosed CD I installed the software and everything started working pretty easily. The enclosed scanning software let me set a default folder on my PC to receive scans and it did a great job of scanning documents, including using OCR and photographs. You have several options; PDF, JPG, etc. available for formatting the scanned docs. Print quality is very good. Colors are crisp and did not appear washed to, which I’ve seen on some other color printers. I do find it is worth paying a bit more for glossy paper designed to work with laser color printers. It really make w the printing more attractive. Copying was likewise simple to do. I did not fax anything. The unit was pretty quiet, much less noisy than the Brother it replaced and quick. One really nice feature is duplex, single pass scanning, rather than “flipping the page to get the second side. This will save time. Print quality was very good – particularly for the price-point. Nowadays there is no reason not to get a printer that can’t automatically duplex print when you so desire. A final Pro and Con… Pro: A print version of the startup manual. These are getting harder to find and I applaud Canon for continuing to include one with the printer. Con: delivering the printer with “starter” toner cartridges, forcing you to have to buy a regular sized cartridge relatively soon after buying the printer.
