Pros: Excellent quality and great printer. If you want a cost/budget friendly option without sacrificing any quality. This is the printer for you. Cons: 1) No auto-duplex scanning option 2) Super expensive to replace ink (cost nearly as much as the original printer purchase, sort of) 3) Poor software design quality for the MF Scan Utility. Hey Canon, try adding in some colorful background besides grey? Its like something from Windows 95 era.

numerous driver, connectivity, scanning, and networking problems. Too many issues to list. Not easy to setup. Poor user interface on the touchpad. User manual is not helpful. Sometimes have to hard wire vs. connect via wireless.

6300 pages on one toner cartridge! Fantastic for $130/cartridge. This thing prints quick painless set up. No crappy spotty third party software, windows recognized the machine instantly and installed what it needed. I have never had such an easy time with a printer. Love it.

Took me getting lucky to get it up and running. Could not get the drivers installed. So Canon gave me a link to a video to watch. Their video did not match with what I was seeing on the printer screen. I dont know what I did to get it working, but it took a couple of hours. This thing is HEAVY. And huge. But the prints are good and the speed is awesome. Might be too much of a printer for home use.

This is a very heavy printer, and takes a bit of effort to unpackaged and place. The box is nicely designed though, and it is easy to remove during installation. It took a bit of effort to set up and program, but once set, all works perfectly. The duplex printing feature is great, and printing is very quick. Document feed and scanning is efficient too. Color is good enough for home office use and there is generous room for paper in the feed tray. Im a bit worried about the likely high cost of replacing the toner, but so far so good.

MF731CDW so far this is a great printer. I set up on my wireless home network. Took me less that 30 minutes to set up and install drivers. No problems with any of the install from my PC using the CDRom included. Printed some photos and the look great! See picture attached. These are on plain copy paper using the "vivid photo setting". Will be setting up the mobile and cloud printing at a later date.

I wish Id known the Automatic-Document-Feeder scanner on the MF731 model is single-sided scanning only. The next model up, the MF733 scans both sides of sheets fed through the ADF scanner, and also adds fax and NFC communications for mobile devices. For the money, Id pay more and get the 733 for the double-sided scanning. I arranged a return through Amazon and ordered a 733. The description of the 731 promotes its duplex printing capabilities and glosses over the limitation of single-sided ADF scanning. I thought the only difference between the 731 and 733 was the lack of fax on the 731, but double-sided scanning is a must-have feature for me. Know what youre getting. Otherwise the print engine is the same between the two models.

Set up was easy. Take the tape off, plug in power, tap the screen to connect it to the Wi-Fi router, download the driver and install the driver, print the test page. Very simple. Color quality is as expected for a laser printer. Printing color or black is quick to warm up and print. Great price.

I bought this after looking at multiple reviews to replace a competitor product which is located in Austin TX... That other one went out literally after the 1-yr warranty & because I had other products I hadnt looked at reviews. On to this multi-function printer - I love the laser printing ability of it since Im in sales and need quality printing. It will even work well with my mid-weight gloss paper. The feeder for copying and scanning is also really nice in that I dont have to stand there and feed the documents for it to scan, you can set the scan up for however you need it to work. I can either use the paper feeder for specialty type paper or use the drawer. The price also cant be beat since I spent over $400 for that other one and this one is way better and such a seamless install too. One last thing, I can print from my CPU and latptop wirelessly so if Im in the living room working and want to print from the laptop it works and I can just get the doc off the printer when Im ready. The print cartridges seem to last yet I print in B/W for most docs. I could even set this up to print from my mobile if I wanted. Fyi, the touch screen works better if you tilt it up just an fyi, I had it straight but once I tilted it I was able to type what I needed in much easier. You can also email direct from the scan if you want. I am so glad I bought this and if it goes out after a year it was still money well spent!!
