I work in IT and I have purchased a number of Brother products over the years for various offices. Typically they are pretty reliable and fairly priced. In the MFC and fax machine space, they seem more robust than similarly priced HPs, Canons, etc. After a recent experience with Brother support, I had to write this review. This unit is less than a year old and used in a business setting. The automatic document feeder broke and needed a simple part that has a rubber pad to push the paper into the feed roller that pulls it through the scanner. After diagnosing the problem and removing the part myself, I contacted Brother support with pictures and an explanation. After days of emails, they told me to make an 80 mile round trip to drop the unit off at a service center. Then the service center would likely have the unit for a week or two. I asked them to please send me the part and I will install it myself. Not happening. I also tried to purchase the part myself online and it cannot be found anywhere. When I finally got in touch with a Brother service center that could order the part, the part is on back order. So I have a $600 machine sitting here that cannot be used. This is a business and we need our office equipment working in a timely manner. I am deducting 4 stars due to poor Brother support and lack of replacement parts.

First off, I would like to say that this was my 4th Brother copier that I have purchased. All others one have worked perfectly and I have no complaints (5 stars). HOWEVER, for whatever reason the first couple of pages I print of any document comes out CRINKLED at the bottom right-hand side (right where the signature line usually is). Sometimes the CRINKLE goes halfway up the page. The problem usually goes away once the printer warms up, but after sitting for just a few minutes, it starts doing it again. SO ANNOYING!!!!! I would love to post pictures, but when the pages come out like this, I feed them directly into the shredder below out of pure anger. I guess Ill say that the ONE star I gave it is for the touch screen feature, which is nice.

We bought this printer to replace a similar Brother 4-in-one printer that had given us 3 good years of service. Unfortunately, the document feeder on this one is a dog! It tears some documents that we feed through it (a HUGE problem since we copy a lot of original legal documents) and refuses to feed others. I finally opened up the feeder and learned that it only has one small feed roller, whereas our old model I think had three. It also creases some of the pages it prints, forcing us to re-print them. Very disappointed, would not recommend this model!

Unfortunately, about 1 out of 10 pages printed come out with a large wrinkle running down the entire page. Brother has not been helpful in solving the issue but rather gives generic tips like "make sure the paper is loaded properly". Have used Brother printers for years without this issue. Regret dropped $500 on this. Wish I had returned it as soon as I had the issue...has been present since the start. Just needed a printer immediately that first month and never returned it. Threw out the wrinkled pages when I was needing professional copies. Wireless printing works great, I must say.

So far very pleased with this printer. Usually prints super fast... some docs with graphics are very slow... but in general great printer. Easy setup and after 4 months no problems. Never been a fan of Brother (CC3 old version or CC4 Control Center software). It works but clunky for scanning. I was able to get my old printer to scan directly into acrobat... I still do not have that working... but I am sure I will find a way. Thus far I would say the printer is a 7-8 out of 10. Update Had over a 18 months and low toner just went on for first time. Ships with 3000 count toner so reasonable... but their estimate is high. I have printed 2270 pages thus far... 95% plus is all text. No photos and few graphics. Still very pleased.

Im docking 2 stars for a flaw and a missing setting that are, in my mind, inexcusable. FLAW: This printer has a "stock" paper supply tray that holds 520 pages. However, the OUTPUT tray holds fewer pages - maybe around 300-325 or so. And, when the output tray fills up, the ENTIRE machine jams up. A piece of paper sticks under the toner, 2 or 3 pages bunch up inside the back door, and a piece REALLY bunches up near the back, and that piece is very difficult to remove. We have to keep needle-nose pliers near the unit to remove that piece. Weve gotten good at it, but it takes 3-4 minutes to clear all the jams. Theres no way the output tray should (1) hold less than the supply tray, and (2) fill up and cause such a bad jam. We print a LOT of 500+ print jobs and basically have to babysit the printer to avoid the bad paper jams. This wastes a lot of time. MISSING SETTING: Previous Brother (and other brand) printers have a "Toner Continue" setting that allows you to continue printing even after the "toner empty" warning comes up. On my old Brother, I could get 200-300 more prints after the warning came up. This model DOES NOT have this setting, and wont print until you put a new cartridge in. After removing the cartridge, I can hear/feel more toner in there, but I cannot use it. Its a waste of toner and money. The printer otherwise prints very crisp and clear, and is very fast (I did 2 tests of 500 sheets and came out at 47.75 and 47.85ppm). Setup was fast and easy and it is very inexpensive to print.

We purchased this printer for my wifes CPA office and shes thoroughly satisfied. It is important you download the brother software that handles all driver updates and correctly configures your computer to recognize the Brother printer, otherwise you may experience problems. Hope this helps!

This is the second MFCL6700DW that I have had in the past two years. Both of them started creasing or wrinkling the paper within a few months of use. I have always used Brother printers but I think this one is a lemon. I will upgrade to the next model definitely.

My last printer was another Brother that I bough 15 years ago. It was great, and it lasted 15 stinkin years, and this is a wonderful replacement. I have it on my wireless network, and my wife and I can print from any of our devices. It takes almost no time to warm up, and it has a great scan-to-computer feature to make it just wonderfully easy to scan anything we need.
