Poor print quality with Google Cloud Print. This issue is not specific to this model. According to various posts several models of Brother printers are affected by "fax like" quality when printing through Google Cloud Print. Its very noticable on even the simple printout like the spreadsheet attached to this review. Its really sad because overall this is a very nice printer. It was easy to setup, it prints super fast. But my main use case is printing via Google Cloud Print so for me this printer is no good. Returning it.

Just terrible print quality with a grey background with streaks and splotches (see photo). Print quality was good at first but deteriorated after one or two months and maybe 200 pages (current page count is 398). I performed the cleaning procedure according to instructions on Brothers web site. The problem reappeared within a few days. Next, I called Brother support where the agent walked me through the same procedure. I asked her what I should do if the same problem appeared again. She told me to buy a new cartridge, and if that didnt help, buy a new drum unit. Great! The problem appeared once again. This time I read Brothers warranty which states consumables (drum unit and cartridge) are covered for 90 days. I contacted a Brother Authorized Service Center about getting it repaired. Turns out that you have to get authorization from Brother before an Authorized Repair Center will work on your printer even though this is not stated in the warranty. When I called Brother again, they wanted me to go through the whole cleaning procedure again. Then to actually get a repair authorization, you have to call back within 7 days with the same problem. Ive never experienced a warranty hassle like this. Ill never buy another Brother product since their support is so horrible.

I was really upset in the beginning with Toner being "sprayed" all over the page, but only on the first page. And then the second Problem is that the Printer kept going Off-Line even though I have a direct ethernet connection. I have since solved this 2 problems: 1) I bought some cheap generic toner and it prints beautifully, and 2) IF you go online to Brother Support, they have a download tool which resolves the problem of "not being able to find the network". The default is 300 dpi which I changed to 600 dpi. It is fast, prints acceptable well, and now at long last, I like it.

Excellent output, very crisp, sharp text and good graphics. Takes a big electrical load when heating up and is a bit noisy, but quieter than the older HL-5470DW. There is a setting that makes it even quieter but slows it down a bit. The fuser started to go after almost 4 years on that similar older HL-5470DW and it cost more to replace the fuser and drum than a new printer, sure hope this one is longer lasting. Even set to automatic duplex (called 2-sided now) it doesnt pull the paper back through when printing a single one-sided page thus speeding the output, unlike the older model. Have had no problems with it quickly waking up from sleep mode.

The HLL5100DN is a nice printer at a very good price point. It has an LCD display and small control panel that makes it easier to configure and do certain things compared to cheaper ones that dont have that feature. The print quality is quite good very sharp and crisp and it prints pretty fast. This is a small office class printer even though for me it is mainly home and some business use. It has usb and Ethernet connectivity but not built in wireless. Thats fine for my purposes because I prefer to connect it directly to my wireless router. If you need the built in wireless capability then get the 5200, 6180 or the 6200 which will cost you about $100 - $200 dollars more.

Fast and reliable thus far. Was snap to integrate into my network. I never often give a five on tech. This one is close. It does click the right boxes. Speed print quality. A bit noisy though. Easy to use even from my tablet and smartphone. Both Android systems. Will be looking to do content share and a good fast printer is great to have. Also no more inkjet. Overall very happy with performance. I had another Brother before too and it did well too.

After twelve years my old Brother laser printer died. I wanted the same but they are no longer made. Yet for half the price, I got the latest, though larger, printer from Brother to replace my most reliable printer in my office. Hard to believe that my first laser printer 30 years ago cost a couple of thousand and put out 4 ppm after it took several minutes to compile a page. This one was less than a couple of hundred and spits out pages by the ream!

This has been our "go to" printer for the office. It prints on both sides, is fast, connects to the network, and generally runs without any problems. Best of all, there are many options online for replacing the toner cartridge. I would highly recommend for any small office environment.

I actually cant attest to how it works because its not wireless, and comes with NO Ethernet or USB cables to use it. I should have done more research. Good price, but you have to create a full Brother account for them to even tell you that they dont provide cables, Big Brother much? Ill update when I order cords and try it, but not sure I can endorse all this. Customer service was much nice then Epson though

Rock solid printer. No frills and no hiccups. Plug and play from both PC and Mac as well as AirPrint. I have used his older brother for 3 year of hard labor. I have no qualms about buying another Brother and no hesitation about recommending it.
