Great printer. I love how easy it was to setup the WIFI connection. I was printing from my computers, laptops, tablets and phones on my home network in about an hour (I installed ALL the software). The printer will automatically clean the heads periodically which is great when you dont print for a longer duration. Being able to print up to 11x17 is great as well. My son has used it for a few 4th grade projects already. The print quality is great and the ability to scan on such a large bed is awesome. My wife is cataloging all our old pictures and she can scan multiple 3x5 pictures quickly. As far as print quality this is a machine made for business. If you want to print high quality photos on photo paper you might want to look for another printer. Not that it is bad at printing pictures but its not made for that. If we want to print really good photos it is easier to send them out of printing to a place like Walmart. The only CON is the software that came with it for scanning. Its horrible. I installed Scan Speeder instead and it rocks.

UPDATED: 10/24/17: I purchased this in May and wanted to give it some time before my review. I bought this printer and its predecessor (6720DW) primarily for the 11 x 17 scanning bed. I have a huge collection of space articles going back to the 1960s beginning to disintegrate. Ive been scanning them before they completely fall apart. I must say I got better scans on the 6720DW than I do using the 6930DW. While easy to hook up (although I find Brother incredibly cheap for not including a printer-to-computer USB cable) and get started with, I am downgrading my initial 3-star rating to 2 stars. I wish the 5-star reviewers who are not having the problems I have would read this and perhaps be able to suggest a possible solution(s). Brother customer service is unresponsive to my attempts at communication. 1. Anything I scan (newspaper), the printer scans it in a reddish hue or a odd shade of brown. It doesnt matter if the newspaper is 2 days old or 50 years old. Ive tried downloading the latest software from Brother, but nothing changes. Older magazines with aged/tinted pages the same thing. Newer magazine articles are very bright. 2. The 6720DW had 7 scanning resolutions from 100 dpi to 1,200 dpi. The 6930DW had only 4 scanning resolutions (100, 200, 300, 600 dpi). The 100 & 200 dpi resolution makes scanning a waste of time. Scanning at 600 dpi takes approx. 45 sec./page - not good for some of these older magazine articles of 20-30 pgs. 3. Another feature I thought would speed up the scanning process was the duplex scanning. And it did at first. It was great. However, a piece of paper, dirt, something got into the mechanism and so I get duplex scans with nice lines through the reverse-side images. I have tried everything in the Brother manual, air from the can, and still nothing works. So Im back to single-side scanning. NO response from Brother customer service on how to clean this "dirt" out to this point. (added 10-18-17): The document feeder now "eats" every pice of paper/magazine page I try to scan except for computer paper. 3a. (Added 10/24/17): The "overview" function on using the flatbed to scan now scans the entire page before displaying it on the screen. Previously, it was a progressive scan onto the screen in real-time. So now you have to wait to see if your page is oriented properly, etc. another change from the 6720DW and another annoyance. 4. Another odd quirk (which happens very rarely) is the printer will send a scanned file to a different folder altogether than the one Im working in. Its happened only a couple of times, but still annoying. 5. I didnt buy this for the printing ability. Printing quality is average at best and I only print when I need a receipt/hardcopy of something. My rating would be at least 4 stars if I could clear the offending piece of debris out of the duplex scanner and if it wouldnt eat the pages fed into the document feeder, just because it would speed up the process of my scanning considerably. I didnt have any of these problems with the 6720DW. I dont know why Brother felt they had to change a winning formula and give you less on the 6930DW.

This printer is huge, as expected for 11x17 paper, and it performs beautifully so far. I am in the computer support business and over the years, I have concluded that Brother is the most problem-free, reliable printer make among all the bigs ( E, C, HP, etc. ), and at a great price and reasonable cost of operation (ink).. At this point in my usage (about a month), I am very pleased with this printers performance. Have printed business graphics and photos and all have looked excellent to me. Plan to do t-shirt transfers next.

Wow. This thing kicks a$$. Super clear print. I also have a MFC-6720 that I love. Tried to buy the 6720 again, but could only find them going for $500 and $600 plus. This was said to be the replacement for the 6720, but I beg to differ. This thing is better. It is a true small business MFC and you cant go wrong. Easy set up and easy use. I printed roughly 400 - 11x17 pages the first 2 days with no issues. Its a beast. Plus the scan features are better and SQUARE. the ADF works great. MUST HAVE printer if you are into printing 11x17 paper.

When I bought this printer a few months back, I was under the impression that this printer was a good quality. I have now come to find out that its not a good quality product. The printer decides that it doesnt want to connect to my computer and that the printer decides it wants to be off line when I try to print to it. The scanner decides that it doesnt want to scan it fully and decides that it wants to cut off half my scanned item. The printer prints really slow and doesnt have the best color. The color comes out discolored and doesnt look like the color that is on my screen. I wouldnt spend my money on another brother printer. I should have stuck with an HP that could have handled higher volume that I am doing rather than this printer.

I replaced a Cannon inkjet that was older and was blowing through ink like crazy. I was tempted to go with one of the large tank/ecotank printers but this printer allows large capacity cartridges for a lot better price so went with this to avoid the raw ink refill hassle. This printer has everything I wanted. Setup easy, software way better than Cannon. The only setup problem was locating the plug for hard wire ethernet, there was no reference in the instruction about it. Finally found it inside the lifted cover next to the phone jack, it had a orange cover plug that had to be removed first to expose the port. Network printer installed perfectly on all the printers on the LAN. The screen on the front is great, tilt up for viewing, touch screen easy to navigate, plus it automatically gets the latest firmware, updates it, then lists the release note changes on the screen. How cool is that, no more digging around online to find what has changed. Can do everything from the screen, copy, copy to file, fax, and others. The features are there, FAX, ADF, Duplex (make sure to get Brother driver, windows driver did not support Duplex), Wireless and Ethernet, USB, 2 paper trays one will accept legal, (although when using legal the tray sticks out from front of printer), back loading tray for special paper and sizes, large scan bed up to about 12" x 16"(LGR size whatever that is), printing speed seems great but didnt actually measure it. I did not print any photos cause I dont use color for photos so cant comment., only for documents that include some color. Also did not use the FAX so no comment on it. Only con is if send a print job with the front panel tray door stowed it will not flip the door open to accept the print. The page will be behind the door bunched up a little. Can leave the door open all the time but if people walk past it does protrude some from the front panel. No problem for single sheets but if you send a large job without opening the door could be an issue. This is a minor complaint. This is a physically BIG printer, at first I thought too much so, but the spot for it was plenty large to accept it. Now it is impressive in size rather than a less capable small printer. The Brother utility also very capable does it all. I like this printer a lot and have no regrets, would buy again.

I purchased this printer September 28, 2017. February 27,2018 5 months after using 2 days a week for a small business. The printer starting printing bad quality to where you couldnt read what was on the page even with trying brand new black ink cartridge also. Print, scan & fax are all not readable with the black ink. The other colors were fine. After trying every maintenance option on the printer multiple times I decided it was time I called customer service. BEWARE OF THE NUMBER YOU CALL FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I GOOGLED THE NUMBER AND CALLED A NUMBER THAT WAS TRYING TO SCAM $75 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. CALL THE NUMBER ON THE MANUAL! I called the number on my manual and they went through the motions of correcting the problem. We eventually solved the problem and they sent me a new black ink cartridge since the process we went through used the new ink cartridge I had just placed in there.

It stopped printing all the colors. Way too expensive to stop printing all the colors! I wasted a lot of ink and 2 hours trying to clean ink nozzles. I attempted 2 more times to clean the ink jets. It will only print some colors not all. Dissatisfied.

I own a small home-based business and have needed a printer upgrade for a little while now. This year I decided to have marketing postcards printed with my logo on one side but blank on the other so I could personalize it with the different seasons and/or promotions. I was beginning to think that was a mistake because every printer under the $400 range had bad reviews for printing small or off-sized items. THIS ONE PRINTS GREAT! The feeder is strong and pulls a stack of postcards through (one at a time of course) with ease. The color is fantastic! And Ive printed hundreds of the cards and only used 1/4 of the ink cartridge so far (not much color on them i admit but the black really seems to go a long way.) So far I am thoroughly impressed and pleased with my purchase. Thank you Brother for thinking of the small business owner!

Everything works great on this printer BUT it sucks down ink like its the vampire of the printer world. I have several Brother printers, and non of them are as thirsty as this unit. This unit was purchased to replace an older model brother. Usage is the same but ink consumption has increased exponentially and the cartridges are crazy expensive.
