This printer is listed on the "business" side of the Brother website, and is described as supporting WiFi printing. However, it doesnt support WPA2-Enterprise Wifi connections (where you "log on" to the network with name and password; a k a "Radius" or "802.1x" or "PEAP/MSCHAP") I got this for my daughter to use in student housing, where all networking is WPA2-Enterprise (as it also is in most businesses larger than 3 emplyees.) Now she has to cart her computer over to where the printer fits and plug in the USB cable each time she wants to print. I guess it will build character or something :-/ To whoever designed and marketed this printer: Dont say you support WiFi unless you actually support WiFi, which includes the WPA2-Enterprise authentication modes. And if youre going to not support this, at least make a mode where the printer can be its own access point, so someone can connect to it wirelessly? (HP does this with WiFi Direct for example.)

Have only had it for a week, so Ill update later if anything changes. So far everything about this printer has been very user friendly. Set up the printer by removing the packaging and inserting the toner cartridge, plugged it in, connected it to the network by following the instructions on the lcd screen and it was ready to print from all my devices. I have not had any problems with it not printing on the network, but I did look online on how to disable the deep sleep feature and followed the instructions to do so. (menu-general setup-ecology-sleep time- then push the asterisk key and "ok" button at the same time and turn it off.)

Works great! Switching to laser after spending a fortune on inkjet cartridges, was the best decision. The TNN-660 High Yield cartridge lasts me over a year of pretty heavy printing. The Brother is very good for scanning. Software allows many settings. My only problem is when using wirelessly it loses connectivity FREQUENTLY. So, now that its on USB, never a problem. Get the 9.8-ft cable here: Syncwire USB 2.0 A-Male to B-Male Cable - 3m for only $3.99. There is also the capability to use iPad as the controller, but I found that the image quality wasnt as good as direct scanning. Perhaps there are settings I overlooked in iPad mode. The footprint is about 17"x17" which fits nicely on a file cabinet. Note regarding the cartridge. Be sure to figure out how to override the automatic "Out of Toner - Replace Cartridge" warnings. You can get many more pages after "Replace Cartridge," which completely stops further printing when you are still getting nice dark copies.

i am using chromebook so i am not sure if thats why the issue but its supposed to work with chromebook. took an initial 2 hours for me to set this up, with help from the q&a, thank you! note i am not computer savvy so thats probably why it took so long, i dont know. anyhow, after the initial setup, i printed all day just fine. but the next days whenever you wait more than 30 seconds to print again you have to turn printer off/on to "wake up" and print again, it doesnt wake itself when you hit print.. that is annoying but i dealt with it, whatever. then it got worse. now i have to keep re-connecting it to wifi too. also after hitting print 20x wondering if anything is doing anything because NOTHING pops up telling you anything about whats happening, then suddenly it will kick on and print TWENTY copies when you only wanted one. i tried to print something prior to starting this review, more than 10 minutes ago. i gave up because despite restarting the printer, and reconnecting the wifi still nothing would print out. then suddenly the print job i forgot about and gave up on suddenly printed out. more than TEN MINUTES later. i dont recommend this. if it wasnt for budget and having a chromebook i would have got something different.

I have been a long time home user of inkjet printers and also a long time vocal hater of ink jet printers. I have owned multiple brands and interfaced with multiple models over the years and regardless of the application I hated using a home printer. Most of the frustration came in the ink department and either the cartridge yield was terrible or the ink would dry up and make the cartridge yield seem terrible. Since purchasing the 2380DW I have been in printer heaven. I love this printer. Its like a best friend that you can always count on to be there when you need it. 15 months after our purchase and we are still on the included stander yield toner. The best feature? It prints! Every single time I send a page it comes out of the printer as it should. Every. Single. Time. We have it connected through wireless and leave it plugged in and powered on most of the time (it has an auto sleep mode). We also installed apps which allow a couple button presses to an easy scan to pdf and automatic send to email which I have set up for the multiple users in our house. This printer also does automatic duplex (two sided) which saves on paper. I use this at home but we also use these same lines of brother printers at work in an office of 50+ persons and they work well there too! Honestly for the price point of these printers dont even hesitate and buy it now and never have to deal with inkjet again.

I purchased this multipurpose printer specifically for its wireless printing capabilities. It clearly states that you can set it up without the use of the CD from a phone, tablet or chrome book. Well, let me tell you that after 2 hours of troubleshooting the wireless setup using a smartphone, chrome book AND a galaxy tablet... that was not my experience. I did manually setup the wireless connection on the printer. It said it was connected and active. However, the iprint brother app would not locate the printer on my network and when I accessed the user interface in my ASUS router the printer was not listed as a connected device in my network map. I tried the auto setup and static ip. All failed. Searched the brother faq, and tech boards for help troubleshooting. Nada. So, I finally dug out my older PC laptop and ran the CD. After a long setup process with the cd it finally works. Whatever information it pushed to the printer did the trick. However, all of the information from what I entered into the setup wizard on the printer AND the cds setup process was the same. Super frustrating and IMO absolutely shameful that it required the CD for a proper wireless setup/config. Especially since it is advertised that the cd is not required for wireless setup. *8/31/18 Update: After failing to get the wireless and cloud printing / scanning functions to work, Im returning the item. It works shotty at best. Dont waste your time and frustration on this model.

Im very happy with this purchase. I dont miss printing color at all nor do I miss the cost associated with inkjet printers. For the cost its hard to beat. I have a couple of caveats: 1. This is definitely not a high quality printer. It does not print B&W graphics well at all. It also struggles to print small text. I like to print text two to a page, but I cant do that with this printer because the text is too fuzzy. 2. Ive had intermittent, problems with the wireless printing. It seems to go into a deep sleep after a few days, and I have to go an manually wake it up. This is no big deal, but then once you wake it up it takes several minutes to re-establish a connection with a computer, and when this occurs it doesnt work to plug in via a USB port either. You just have to wait for the printer to figure it out.

I put this printer in my home office and it instantly short circuited the electricity. After talking to Brothers support team, I found out this is a known and common problem. But Brother assured me I could unplug everything in the room, get the printer started and it would not cause a major surge once it was powered on. Wrong. We were finally able to get the printer to turn on after unplugging everything in the office. But even with everything unplugged, it short circuited the house when we tried to print. In reading a lot of forums, apparently Brother cuts cost with their circuitry and this is common for their printers. I live in a modern home, built in 2003, and aside from two computers, two lamps and a monitor, this was all we had plugged into the office. It shouldnt knock out my electricity. Im going for another brand.

Brother printers are solid performers, and they used to be very cost effective, especially where toner is concerned. (More on that in a minute). This printer does everything you need it to do for a really good price. It supports Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook web print and Android too. Its pretty easy to set up, and plays well with everything Ive thrown at it. The only beef I have is with the toner. First, the cartridge shipped with this printer comes nowhere near the 700 pages they claim. (I got less than 500 pages out of it, and thats text pages.) Brother calls it a "starter cartridge". ??? Why not include at least a "standard" toner cartridge. Second, the price of toner cartridges for this printer makes no sense. One of the things that makes Brother attractive over other laser printers is that the toner was always a fraction of the price of the competition. Thats because the Brother toner cartridge is just toner, not toner and a photo drum, like many of the competitors. So what changed? I recommend you buy either a "standard" or "high yield" toner cartridge when you buy this printer so youll have one on hand. Dont trust the estimated number of pages a given cartridge says it can produce, keep an extra one on hand.

This printer refuses to work with AirPrint, or maintain a reliable wireless connection. The wireless assistant software is poorly designed and worded, and cuts out mid-way through any setup. When wired, however, it works fine. Duplexer, too. But avoid if you want to use this printer wirelessly.
Make sure this fitsby entering your model number. Upon activation, the Amazon Dash Replenishment service measures the toner level and automatically orders toner from Amazon when low.
