Ive had this monitor for about 2 months (purchased on Cyber Monday) and Im still as in love with it as I was on day 1. I primarily use it for video editing with Adobe Premiere and other Adobe software. Although I often edit 4K content I have no problem with this monitor not actually being 4K. I use this monitor with my MacBook Pro via the USB - C port which is a FANTASTIC feature to have at this price point. Please note that you will have to get the proper USB - C cable if youd like to do this as well. Fortunately, I already had this cable prior to purchasing. Screen Real Estate - The 21:9 aspect ratio is nothing short of life-changing. It makes multi-tasking of any kind significantly better. When using Adobe Premiere, the very long timeline and space for windows make such a positive impact on your workflow. It has seriously made video editing more enjoyable. Additionally, its so useful for non-editing purposes like Microsoft applications. In the past, I never used multi-tasking capabilities, but since I received this monitor I always used Safari side-by-side with Word documents or other things. I also often put live TV on one side of the monitor. Color & Brightness - This monitor has seriously accurate colors. It comes with a calibration test that LG performed on it to make sure the colors are accurate. This is SO important for photo and video editors. You need to know what youll be sharing with clients or on social media, and off-colors could be disastrous. This monitor is also EXTREMELY bright. I often keep it at about 50%, especially towards the later hours. Its fantastic to have such a powerful and bright display, however. Software - The software for this television is pretty impressive! It has a PIP function, but I honestly dont use that. Thats because Mac OS already makes it pretty easy to do PIP-like things. The app is super useful for changing the settings of the monitor on the fly, such as the brightness, contrast, profiles, etc. Speakers - Unfortunately, I cant attest to the quality of the built-in speakers because I use a separate surround sound system. The fact that it has speakers is pretty sweet though! The Negative - NONE... seriously though, this monitor has been great! I did originally think that it came with PIP between different inputs and unfortunately, it doesnt have that. CONCLUSION - To conclude, I would highly recommend this monitor because of the positive impact its made on my workflows and for an exceptional price. No, its not the best quality screen in the world. However, as someone who nitpicks things like picture quality, I think its beautiful. I have and will continue to recommend it to friends and co-workers. Lastly, this monitor makes you feel really cool which is really important!

I have been looking for a new monitor to replace my old 10-year-old 22” LCD monitor. I finally came across an amazing deal for this LG monitor during Cyber Monday. The price was just right for this kind of monitor specs and size. First, let me say Amazon customer service is excellent and they did a great job of making my return process convenient. Here are the reasons why this product deserves a 1 star. For this specific monitor, I believe LG has some quality control issues. I went through 2 of these defective monitors, and they both had the same problems. Both monitors were manufactured in September 2017 (according to the label on the back). The first monitor I received worked perfectly for about 10 days. After that, a yellowish tint started showing on the bottom half of the screen and very annoying grey vertical lines showed up on the sides of the screen. I contacted LG, and they told me the usual troubleshooting steps which I did. I also tested the monitor on multiple pcs, and tried 5 different brands of HDMI and display port cables. No luck, it still has the symptoms. The next day the grey lines got worse and were all over the screen which made reading websites, watching videos, and playing games impossible. I returned the first one and got a replacement from Amazon. Plugged it in and it worked great for about 6 days then the grey vertical lines showed up once again. I contacted LG and now I am in a very long process of getting a replacement. I am stuck with my old monitor until I can get a new one. LG customer service is taking a very long time before I can get a replacement sent. This is what happened so far. I sent my first email stating the problem. It took two days to get a response which will tell you to try some basic troubleshooting steps which you probably did already. Then I sent them the email with all the details stating that I tried all the troubleshooting steps plus extra steps. I waited another two days. They sent me a Return Authorization for the unit and case number of the request. It said, “someone will get in touch with you within the next 3 to 5 business days providing the information in regard to the process.” Guess what no one contacted me for a week. I had to live chat with a support representative to find out why no one sent me an email or tried to contact me. The rep said the receipt did not go through when I submitted the email using their contact form on their website. I certainly did upload the receipt using their contact form. So for those who are going through the same process be aware their contact form upload receipt section might not work properly. Apparently, if I didn’t get in touch with them again, they would of never contacted me to let me know that the receipt is still pending. Anyways now I got the receipt uploaded and verified they gave me a new case number and I have to wait for someone to contact me again in 3 to 5 days for the next step. Four days later someone called and told me “you will be receiving a call from Defective Return Department for instructions in 3 to 5 days.” I am still waiting for the call so I can get a replacement and to return this defective one. All I have to say if you are ever going to have to get your LG product under warranty replaced, your turn around time will probably take a month or longer. All LG has to do is send a new one to the customer right away and send a shipping label to the customer to send out the defective model. This process doesn’t have to take this long just to get a working monitor. This monitor would be perfect for all my needs but I received two defective monitors. It was great while it lasted. Everything looked great from movies to games when it was working properly but I can’t trust this specific model. If you experience these monitor issues, then you might have a serious issue with yours too. Good luck with LG’s customer service. I have bought many LG products in the past and this is the first time I had serious issues with their products.

I had this monitor a month now and I love it. The joystick button makes navigating the menu so easy. The built in speakers actually sound very good for watching tv, movies and playing games so Im not even using external speakers. The viewing angle is such that I can see the screen perfectly no matter where I am in relation to the monitor. Like other reviews have said this monitor is simply amazing. Ultra wide has brought a new level of enjoyment to gaming and movies. LG did a wonderful job. EDIT: 11/27/2018: I loved everything about this monitor and then it quit working this morning. The screen lights up and speakers work but no picture or on screen menu. I wish I got the extended warranty.

Awesome monitor! I just received my monitor and could not be happy given the price point. Pros: sharp image, super thin, clean lines, good controls, tons of features, and very bright for 250cd/m2. I viewed an LG 34um88 and despite this monitor having a lower resolution, I think it is way better. Cons: red base accentis a little unnecessary. Other thoughts: LG has the wrong photo posted. The front looks the same but the back is different. The 100x100 mount is positioned low and inset, which limits the type of wall mount you can use without it showing or looking goofy. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind. I knew this before I purchased, so no worries. If you want an ultrawide without the insane price tag, I would recommend this monitor. I am running it with a ASUS RX480 - no issues.

Exactly what I wanted and for a great price. Been shopping monitors for my gaming setup for a few months now. Decided on ultrawide. Did my research. Found this one at a perfect price and the Square Trade warranty was well priced compared to retailers. Setup is easy. Settings easy to navigate. Awesome picture, and great, GREAT FOR GAMING.

Im writing this review because its the review I wish I could have read before buying this monitor. There are few widescreen USB-C monitors, especially at this price point, but this looked like it was the best monitor for the money out there, so I bought it. What I had hoped for was that this monitor could provide a true single-cable heaven between the monitor and my 2017 MacBook Pro. The ideal scenario is I could plug my USB peripherals into the back of this monitor, plug the USB-C directly from the monitor to my MBP, and my MBP would get charged and also provide video to this monitor. That didnt happen. First off, there are no additional USB ports on the back of the monitor. I didnt believe this when I read the specifications because having USB ports on the back of a monitor is so common nowadays. Second, the USB-C cable does carry video perfectly from the MBP to the monitor, and while it does provide power to the MBP, it does not provide enough power to keep it fully charged. My power meter slowly crept down from 100% over the course of a couple of hours. Not as bad as running it without any power, but not enough to get through a full day. So, I have an Apple Multiport Adapter which includes a USB-C port, an HDMI, and a single USB port, which then connects to the MBP through a single USB-C. I plugged this monitor into the USB-C port on the adapter and my keyboard/mouse USB connector to the USB port on the adapter, and while video transfers, no power transfers. The only way to get video and some power is a direct connection from the USB-C on the monitor to the USB-C on the MBP. Im not sure if this is LGs fault or just the way the Apple adapter was built. So, on day 2, I have come up with my own one-cable-to-rule-them-all: I hook up the MBP power USB-C to the USB-C on the adapter, I plug the keyboard/mouse USB receiver into the adapter, and I plug an HDMI cable from the adapter to the monitor. Then, I plug the single USB-C connector from the adapter to the MBP, and wala, I have everything I need finally. The goal of USB-C someday is to provide this sort of single-connector paradise, but we are not there yet, at least not on this monitor. Its still a very nice monitor and I use it for work, not gaming, but for the size of the display its great for this price point.

Ive had this ultra-wide monitor for a couple of weeks now and Ive really enjoyed it. Yes, the resolution is a bit low for a screen of this size, but Im used to 1080p anyway, so it doesnt bother me. Everything looks just as crisp and clear on this as it does on my 27 inch 1080p 16:9 panel. Also, for gaming and watching movies, this thing is fantastic! Games are really immersive and movies look amazing without the black bars on the top and bottom. Watching the original Star Wars on this with my 5.1 surround sound system was like being in a theater! Im running this with an R7 1700 processor, 16 gigs of 2933 memory, and a GTX 980Ti. I can play everything at at least high settings and get to take advantage of that 75hz refresh rate. If youre looking for a great gaming and entertainment monitor, but dont need the higher 1440p resolution, this is your monitor!

Bought this on a Black Friday deal and I really couldnt be more please with it especially for the price. Great contrast, color and clarity. I went from a 26" 1920x1200 16:10 monitor to this 21:9 1080 and was worried Id see a reduction in image quality but honestly there is none perceivable. If anything the image quality actually got better based on color and clarity overall. My text actually looks sharper out of the box then it ever has on my previous monitor. While this isnt a 120 or 144hz monitor going from 60 to 75hz did seem to add a bit of fluidity in certain situations. Im driving this monitor with a GTX 970 and only noticed minimal FPS loss in Fallout 4, which looks absolutely stunning in ultra wide by the way. To get 75hz working on an Nvidia card you need to enable Freesync in the monitor menu and then set your desktop resolution in the Nvidia control panel to 75hz. The stand on this monitor, which has rotate, tilt and height adjustment was the main reason I chose it over the newer version. The brightness and contrast are good and there is barely if any light bleed. I had some concerns with this ultra wide not being a curved monitor feeling that perhaps the outer edges of the screen may have a contrast or brightness variation based on the viewing angle but I personally can perceive no such issue. The image quality is uniform across the entire width of the screen. One slight negative I experienced is that there is a little bit of flex to the circuit board in the back of the monitor when plugging in the power cord or HDMI cable however I have found this to be a common issue on many TVs and monitors so its really nothing out of the ordinary. On a side note, I initially thought I would be wowed by the panorama effect of the ultra wide, and I was, just in a bit of a surprising way. Its hard to explain I suppose but the ultra width just sort of felt like such a natural thing that is wasnt as consciously noticeable as I thought it would be. I did get an increased sense of immersion but it was subtle and somewhat more subconscious. Playing Fallout 4 with the ultra wide mod the difference didnt pop out at me like I thought it would, however there was an increased feeling of naturalness or perhaps I could say correctness that wasnt there before and is somewhat taken for granted as just being the way it should have been all alone. Conversely, playing grand strategy games like GalCiv III the increase in the game board is very noticeable and much appreciated. One last note, while the actual screen height of this monitor is the same as my 26 inch, the extreme width and reduced bezel size create the optical illusion that the 21:9 has a smaller screen height when in fact it does not. Looking at the screen you cant help but feel youve lost some vertical viewing area when if fact you have not. This phenomenon takes a little getting used to. No dead pixels so far either. This was a great buy and upgrade. Id recommend this monitor, and ultra wide 21:9 aspect ratio to anyone. If youre primary use will be professional use, you might as well go with a 1440, but for general home office, FPS, RTS, MMO, RPG and 4X gaming, definitely the way to go. If you can find one or similar for $250 or under you definitely will not regret it.

Keep in mind that this is the first time ever I use a monitor in more than 10 years! I have been using laptops all this time (MacBook Pro). I am in real estate and I was getting sick and tired of the tiny screen as I was getting busier and busier. We need to have many different windows open when we are analyzing property, rates, returns, e-mails, etc; so I decided I needed a widescreen monitor. I wanted it to have USB-C capabilities for the simplicity of cable management and I wanted it to be curved screen because it seemed to friendlier and more involving when sitting in front of it. The problem? Those cost AT LEAST double than this monitor. I am not going to lie, I had my finger on the trigger many many times to get one of those expensive monitors but at the end I figured that this one, at the price offered, was a great value to get started and see if I would really use it for what it is worth. So now I am here, sitting in my home office, writing this review from my new monitor and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE IT! It has been a couple of weeks now and I have not looked back. I just get to my office, plug the MacBook Pro to the USB-C and thats it! With this monitor you get so much real estate that you can multi-task, the workflow is a real breeze, makes things super easier and now I actually look forward to get those heavy and long works done quicker and easier. I totally recommend this product, especially if it is your first time and you are on the fence on getting a widescreen monitor, DO IT! For the price I have found this monitor to be an absolute DEAL! I cannot give you my opinion on gaming because that is not what I use it for. The only inconvenience that I have found on this monitor is that coming from a Retina display you will notice the difference at the beginning, then you get used to it. But I believe that will be an issue in any monitor you get, sure, some will do better than others, but the only way to stay with the quality of the retina display is to buy another Mac. Hope this helps!

I bought this monitor for our second home office space. Turns out both my husband and I need work spaces at home. We bought a nice ultrawide monitor on blackfriday, and as someone who works a lot with various spreadsheets etc. I fell in love. So I went searching for a second one and found this at the very affordable price point of $300.99. This monitor does everything I need. I like that it has the usb-c connection so I can just use a usb-c cord to connect directly to my 2018 macbook pro (the kind with 4 USB-C ports) with no data loss. Note that you do need to make sure the usb-c cord youre using is the type that can carry data (some are just for charging). I mostly use this display for writing, research, programming, inspecting data, and its great for all those tasks. Nice brightness level and no weird pixelation. I dont watch movies or play video games on it, but expect it would be good for both. The only feature this doesnt have that my other monitor has is the ability to show picture from multiple inputs at once. Its not necessary, but once in a while I want to have both my macbook pro and my ipad simultaneously displayed. This monitor cant do that. The sound is actually surprisingly decent with the sound maxx enabled. Im pretty picky speakers with high pitches, and pretty much never use speakers built-in to computers or monitors. While I dont use the speakers regularly, when I do I dont find it painful. The stand is not adjustable at all, and honestly it makes me a little nervous, but after a month of use it seems fine. I will likely get an arm and wall mount it, as it is VESA compatible and it would make me feel less nervous about my cats getting on the desk and messing with it.
