Contrast is remarkable. Brightness is superb. Best blacks Ive ever seen. Viewing angles are great. Heavy duty solid metal stand functions perfectly. The low haze finish looks top notch on this VA panel. Down firing speakers sound good for 5w units. Only slightly larger footprint than a 27". Using it for home office, gaming and watching movies. Longevity unknown but as new its great. FreeSync is icing on the cake. This is one of those times that feels like youre getting more than you paid for.

No issues with resolution as stated by some other reviewers I have a Alpha R2. I first hooked it up with the computer off, plugged in the hdmi & another wire that needs to be connected to the monitor and goes into the computers usb, then plugged in the power cord and turned on my computer with no issues monitor was recognized for the native resolution with no problem. Great features, it’s mountable there’s a plastic piece that pops off real easy to access the screw holes, built in speakers was huge for me because it’s so much more convenient ( real decent sound ), 32” 2k, all for a fair price. Just hooked it up yesterday and am very happy with this product. The 2k item is far superior than dells cheaper 32” which I also own, the 1080 32” will turn off from static in house if you walk on the carpet and try to move the screen or open a room door however this 2k 32” i was moving it around today to see if I could get it to act up but nothing so for an extra $100 bucks you get a far better monitor from these guys.

I got this monitor from Cyber Monday sale. It arrived yesterday. I switched cables with my old monitor and wow, the new monitor is working without any adjustment. The display quality is stunning, high resolution of course, and color saturation is beyond my expectation. Its a steal with less than $300 for this monitor.

I ended up buying two of these so I can run dual-monitors (mounted on a vesa mount), primarily for productivity (mainly coding) and Ill say that having this huge amount of screen real-estate is absolutely marvelous! Im used to using standard 21.5-inch 1080p monitors at work which now feel incredibly cramped and small. The 2560x1440 resolution on these S3291Ds really allows me to use my IDE (tool for software development) to its full potential with everything being nice and spread out while offering plenty of space. The second monitor is great for secondary tasks, or for keeping a DBMS (for database management) in full view. There is so much horizontal space that I can easily keep a DBMS on one half of the monitor and something like an Excel workbook, email client, etc on the other half while keeping the IDE on my main. I love it. For fun I put a monitor in portrait mode (using the vesa mount, not possible with the standard included desk mount) and while it did look a little crazy because these monitors are so big, the amount of code I could cram on one screen is amazing! Its nice having as much code as possible on one screen with a monitor in portrait mode because it really allows me to read through massive chunks of code without a bunch of scrolling around. I also do music production as a hobby and having all of this space for my DAW (digital audio workstation - basically a digital mixing console) is also great. For recording music, the more space the merrier! Im not using the included desk mounts but they do feel quite robust and study, though it appears they are pretty limited in regards to flexibility (no height adjustment for example). This monitor does have a couple negatives, but nothing game breaking. First, text isnt quite as sharp to me as other reviews seem to say. I read plenty of reviews saying "text is razor sharp!" but thats just not the case. Its certainly legible, but not amazing, especially when I have my OS in dark mode. I did confirm that the monitors are running at their full native resolution and Im not sitting real close to them as the vesa mount allows me to really push the monitors back. I have mine set about an inch or so behind the back edge of my desk so theyre about as far back as I can make them. It was also hard for me to come up with a satisfactory color calibration. Im not a pro calibrator at all so its hard for me to really articulate exactly whats wrong, but the colors just seem a bit off and its hard for me to correct it. In the end I gave up trying and just put both monitors in "Standard" mode. Its okay, but not fantastic. This isnt a deal breaker because they are still perfectly functional for what Im using them for, but if your into things like photo editing and such then I might look elsewhere. The speakers are pretty bleh. I had reserved hopes because the description for these monitors really talks them up "professionally tuned by award-winning waves MaxxAudio" but in the end they are functional but certainly nothing special. I didnt really expect them to be great because they are monitor speakers but to me they dont really sound any better than any other monitor speakers Ive heard. In the end, Im happy with my purchase. I feel spoiled with all of this desktop space!

First, I am not an expert on computer monitors. However, I am very visually oriented and dont miss much in the way of detail with my eyes. I spend 20-30 hours a week in front of my two Dell S Series LED-Lit Monitors (S3219D), looking at text of some kind or other. I usually enlarge the text to between 170% and 215% of normal to help with eye strain and fatigue. I also spend another 10+ hours per week preparing Powerpoint presentations for teaching or demonstration. I purchased two new Dell 32" monitors (S3219D) back in January of 2019 so I have had them about two months. They replaced two 23" monitors that were about 10 years old with Full HD IPS 1920 x 1080 resolution. After much research I knew that I would need to go to a higher resolution with these very large 32" monitors and the QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution has really paid off. A 32" monitor at 1920 x 1080 resolution with large text would be too blurry for me. But, with the QHD 2560 x 1441 resolution I have increased the text size up to 72 pt and higher, just to see how it would be, and I cannot see much blurring at all. In short, I am very pleased with these new 32" Dells. And for approx. $250 each that makes the deal unbeatable. I have also watched video clips, worked with photos in Adobe Lightroom, and much more. These monitors are fantastic. I highly recommend them to anyone. I am not a gamer so I havent any experience in that way. For the price, Dell has a real winner here. The stand is solid cast aluminum or some other kind of metal for a very firm, solid base, and the stand attaches solidly to the monitor with screws (included). The edges of the monitors are small (1/2" all around). I run both monitors with high speed HDMI cables from Amazon and not the cables they came with. I already owned the Amazon cables so decided to just go with those. That was a good choice. Finally some of the features and other specs include a very vivid image clarity / quality in QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution; the viewing angle is about 170 degrees for the VA type monitor; built-in dual 5W speakers (which I dont use so I cant comment on how they sound); it is wall-mountable (with a 100mm x 100mm VESA - compliant mounting plate hidden behind a removable back plate); Dells Comfort View feature to reduce blue-light eye strain; and the following ports: 1 - Power connector port, 1 - Security-lock slot, 2 - HDMI ports, 1- Display Port 1.2, 1 - Audio line out port, 1 - USB upstream port, 1 - USB downstream port, and 1 - USB BC 1.2 charging port. Last but not least the dimensions with the stand are as follow: Height 523.2 mm (20.60 in.) Width 737.9 mm (29.05 in.) Depth 197.7 mm (7.78 in.) which is the base depth All in all, an unbeatable bargain and well worth the money.

Highlight: 2560x1440 resolution tested and confirmed on HDMI (1 & 2) and on DisplayPort, using Nvidia GTX645 & GTX650 video cards. Very pleased with this purchase. I have MUCH older Dell monitors that have good color and have held up over time, so I felt comfortable buying Dell again. Being able to purchase with Prime from the Amazon warehouse sealed the deal. I shopped many displays of this resolution and none could beat the value. I considered putting a 4K 43” TV on my desk for a comparable price, but 2 out of the 3 machines I’d be connecting would require a video card upgrade to drive it, which would double my cost. Pros: Dell brand, price, 2560x1440 resolution, 1DP and 2 HDMI inputs, all of which provide the full resolution and audio too. Built in speakers are a plus. Cons: no Thunderbolt USB-C video, but at this price that’s no surprise, and USB-C to HDMI 2.0 or DP 1.2 adapters are readily available for as little as $15. Without any tweaking, video and photos appear as though black levels are inferior to the smaller older Dell displays I have flanking it, but to be fair, I spent a lot of time fine tuning the picture on those so I shouldn’t judge it just yet. Other notes: I’m not a gamer so I can’t comment on how well suited this monitor is for that. For business apps, it’s very crisp and windows scroll smoothly. At approximately 92 dpi, text is very comfortable to read at native resolution and 100% scaling, in contrast to the tiny text on the 24” 2560x1440 displays I use at work.

Having purchased many many monitors since 1985, and a few over $1,000, this one is big, great, FAST, and unlike a couple I hauled to landfill, the SWITCH works. The screen is very very good for working in Photoshop and Illustrator. Would buy another in a heartbeat, dont hesitate on this Dell monitor. Push the Buy button. Dell has improved their products.

I run a video production business and were starting to expand. My wife took an interest in offline editing and wants to help out, so I decided to get her set up with a workstation where she can help and learn. I got her this monitor to run with an older Macbook Pro thinking it will at least give her some decent room to fit what she needs on one screen. I use a Dell ultrasharp ultrawide as my primary GUI monitor, so I also figured the S series would be a good starter for her as well -- and Im happy to say its even more than that. We have it running full resolution (1440p) on a 2013 Macbook pro via HDMI with no problems. Color accuracy is extremely good for the money, and I was also pleased to see such good viewing angles on a VA panel. It rivals a lot of IPS monitors Ive seen! Im thinking I will buy another one for myself.

This review is appropriate for coders, developers, or people that work from the screen most of the day. 1. BUTTERY SOFT ON EYES. I was having major problems with my eyes since starting to work from home. Little did I know that cheap/old monitors are hard on your eyes for all day use. I got some blue blockers which helped but by 9 pm (dont you love IT /sarc) my eyes start sticking, get fogged like if you leave contacts in, eventually I cant even see the screen & have to sleep with cold towel on eyes. This thing, you can FEEL the lack of photons hitting your eyes with this & that is the primary reason Im here writing this and buying a second one. No more eye problems but it took a few days for my existing pain to go away, now at 10 pm, clear, pain free eyes, wow! 2. LOOKS good, very slim, bezel is even all the way around, screen front is light matte & helps w glare. Beautiful for coding, web, apps. 3. LOW POWER USAGE - Had I not taken on Solar power as hobby, wouldnt have even worried about this. I just used them & paid the electric bill. My office is (was) 100% run on Solar & I have enough battery to keep laptop screen plus this one, phone charger from 7 am to around 11 pm non-stop. My volts get down to 11 at around that time and the inverter beeps. I put a Samsung (maybe 28") smart tv on to try it in portrait along with this one and I ran out of battery power at around 8 pm, three hours earlier, I was drawing around 80 watts & I normally drew around 60 watts. I only have three 100 watt panels & one car battery so not bad, its been pretty sunny in florida this month though. Also, part of this is no HEAT, the junk Samsung I used made the room hot all the time, no wonder my eyes were raw. This Dell gives off no heat, well I cannot detect it until my hand is only 1 mm away from the screen. 4. SCREEN GEOMETRY / RESOLUTION is nice for coding. a. LANDSCAPE (default)- looks amazing in full screen 2560x1440 is awesome for IDE, Editor, Web, Split Editors & the aspect ratio & size of screen area youre viewing that on is great for development. I find myself going full screen when in heavy development w/ ancillary screens for reference. Ive also subdivided a half screen into two, good for two low real estate reference screens, rdp sessions, database isql sessions, etc. They all work okay, nothing is suck ass b. PORTRAIT - Is great for web, long documents, or long IDE to see lots of code. Split horizontally, tilted in slightly should give two respectable 1440x2560 which works well, perhaps better than horizontally split, which is why Im buying another one. Two put in portrait side by side gives me 2880 x 2550 which gives a much more "square" screen area than typical, the other aspect ratios seem more suited to movies.

So this is a tough one for me. I have not decided if I will keep it or not. First off a few things: 1). If you are going to hook this up to an iMac, buy a 6 foot mini display port to display port cable. I bought the three foot cable and it was about 2 inches to short to but this monitor on the left side of my iMac. So I decided to use an HDMI cable until I got get a six foot mini DP to DP cable in. That lasted all of 15 minutes. Which brings me to point #2 2). Do not use an HDMI cable. I did not have the issue that others had mentioned about not being able to get full native resolution. That came up no problem. However, as soon as I hooked up the HDMI cable I could see another problem. The colors were horrible. I played with the various color spaces and couldn’t get anything that worked. So I got out my ColorMunki and did a full calibration. It was ok, but still just really couldn’t stand the colors. This is when I first learned about the issue with the YPbPr Color format. If you hook up this monitor to an iMac with an HDMI cable, it defaults to this format. You can override it and change it to RGB, but it immediately looks horrific. There is a workaround you can do through terminal and recovery mode, but I really didn’t want to go to that much trouble for a monitor I wasn’t even sure I was going to keep. So I rearranged my iMac and the Monitor (which takes longer than you think when you have neatly bundled the cables for 9 different peripherals) just so I could try it out with the mini DP to DP cable. Which leads me to the next point. 3). The color format defaults to RGB as soon as you hook it up with a mini DP to DP cable and looked much much better. It still on the lower end of what I consider acceptable, but it was acceptable and drastically better than using the HDMI (to the point I wouldn’t even consider using an HDMI cable on this monitor). I recalibrated with the ColorMunki and again saw another improvement. The ColorMunki really had to dim down the monitor to get the white balance right, but it did get it right. I manually increased the brightness (The monitor does not get overly bright in my opinion on full blast) to what I could consider acceptable, which threw off the color balance slightly, but it’s still acceptable. So having done all this the color was finally useable. Which brings me to the next point. 4). I’m not sure what other people are seeing or if I’m just extremely picky, but I definitely would not use the word “sharp” to describe text on this monitor and definitely wouldn’t add the words “tack” or “razor” in front of it. Before this setup i used two additional 27” monitors that were both 1920x1080. I considered the text on them fuzzy and on the very low end of tolerable, but I did all my main work on the iMac and used the other two monitors to keep my email, iMessage, and our company management software open, so I lived with it. Switching over to this monitor from those, I would consider this marginally better. It’s not as fuzzy as the 27” monitors, but it is just fuzzy enough that I find it annoying. It’s like looking at a photo that is just slightly out of focus. You keep asking yourself “is that in focus” and you zoom in and nope, it’s not. That’s the best way I can describe it. I think I’m going to be able to tolerate it, but I’m not 100% sure yet. I have to wonder what the text would look like with a 4K monitor hooked up to this. I played around with zooming in an out and it felt like using command+ to increase the font one time in Chrome made it a little better. Same with iMessage. So what’s the verdict? I’m honestly not sure. The price is great. It looks well built. I’m not impressed with the brightness. You definitely need to use the display port if you’re hooking up to an iMac. And then finally you have to decide how important sharp text is for you. I’m still on the fence over the last point.
