On Mac OS, you will find the highest resolution is 1080p (1920x1080) which is this displays native resolution. That is a very large pixel size on 32". You can force the OS to display QHD, but it is not native, and text is blurry. This monitor is not suitable for working at a desk, but probably fine for gaming. Amazon should provide native resolution specs on all the Dell listings, not just maximum. The second screen shot is an App called Display Mac.

Previous review that stated it would only work at 1080 likely used an HDMI cable. HDMI doesnt support 2560x1440. My 2014 macbook is currently working fine in the native resolution of 2560x1440 using the amazonbasics micro DP to DP cable.

You can get 32" monitors for less and also for a lot more, but would be hard pressed to do much better at this price for the feature set. I have never been disappointed with any of my Dell branded monitor purchases, but have been with other brands. For that reason, I wanted to stick with Dell. After having this monitor for a few days and using it at the ideal resolution of 2560x1440, I am very glad that I didnt purchase one that maxed out at 1920x1080. The 2560x1440 resolution on a 32" monitor is about equivalent to 1920x1080 on a 24" monitor, except more of the page will show up on the larger monitor. For me there would be little point to purchasing a 32" monitor with 1920x1080 resolution. The other factor in my purchase was I needed a monitor with a Display Port input which this one has. I use it with my laptop that has only VGA and Display Port outputs for a monitor and Im definitely not going to use VGA. I like the fact that this monitor has essentially the same OSD as my 24" IPS Dell monitor and also uses the same Display Manager software. This Monitor is not an IPS panel. It is a VA panel. For the most part I cant tell much difference except for slightly reduced viewing angles, but still quite good. VA panels do excel at contrast and this monitor has very good contrast. Im not really a gamer so havent tested it in that regard, but I think this would be a pretty good gaming monitor. This monitor has very good looks and is mostly all black except for the Dell logo and silver stand. It stand is quite substantial at about 5 pounds and the monitor feels sturdy for its size. Pros: 2560x1440 Resolution 3000:1 Contrast Ratio Display Port and HDMIx2 and USB Hub Built in Speakers FreeSync for AMD graphics Sturdy Stand Looks Good On or Off Cons: VA panel (Also a pro for contrast) Stand not height adjustable Overall this appears to be an excellent monitor at this price point. You can get a 32" monitor for cheaper, but most of those have a max resolution of 1920x1080 which for me ruled them out. I have to add that Amazon was extremely prompt in delivering this monitor. I ordered it on a Friday and got it two days later on Sunday. Buy it. Youll like it.

Reviewed and updated 11/27, 12/5, 12/30/18. Updates on responsiveness on light gaming, HDMI cable quality, and speakers. This is a relatively new monitor that has only started selling a couple of months ago, and as of writing this review, there are no reviews online. The only info I see is Dells product page for this monitor. This is my first S series monitor. I usually bought U series Dell monitors because they provided very sharp looking images, but my current needs include 27+ screen with higher than Full HD resolution, while coming in below $400. This ticked all the boxes. As an S series monitor, it is marketed towards the value conscious, business user whos priority is screen real estate for coding and spreadsheets, and less towards superior color accuracy, super thin bezels, and super brightness. Monitor build: to be honest, the bezels are a shiny somewhat cheap looking plastic. The bezels are approximately half an inch on all sides. Out ofnthe box, part of the enclosure popped out, partially exposing the panel itself. I was able to snap it back together. The base is metal and tilts forward and back only. So how is the picture? At first glance, the picture looks good. As good as my older Dell U2412 monitor. The size is great for browsing, text, coding, spreadsheets. Videos looked bright and not washed out like other monitors out of the box. Is this better than my other Dell U2415 monitor? No. But its very good at what it does. Gaming: I didnt try any PC games but I did hook up my nintendo switch and played Smash Bros Ultimate. If you turned on game mode, most of the prepocessing is removed and you get a decently responsive monitor. Will it help you beat Pichu? Heck no (that character is currently too overpowered) but at least I can react to its neutral A better. Playing 1080p on a 1440p monitor wasnt so bad. Other parts of the monitor: Menus - Similar to other dell monitors but has contextual balloons this time to make your selections clearer. Serviceable navigation. Speakers, in one word, ok. Lyrics and songs are tinny and muffled. If you want the sound to not sound as terrible, turn off the "MaxxAudio" setting in the menu. The sound will have less bass and sound will be a bit lower, but voices are definitely clearer. Whej playing movies, my picture and sound cut out when sound is played at max volume, which leads to me to believe the speakers may not be getting all the power it needs to operate normally. Refresh rate issue - The resolution + refresh rate is supposedly 2560x1440@75hz. On Windows 10 and Intel and Nvidia graphics adapters, when I cranked it to the max, the monitor was losing the image every 5 seconds. I was going to send it back when I tried 2560x1440@60hz instead. That fixed my issue. I did not have this issue using Ubuntu 18.04. Other observations: - Its a bit sensitive if you move the monitor while it is on. You can momentarily lose the picture. Loose hdmi connection? - The included HDMI cable sucks. When you plug it into an hdmi port, its a little loose. Even worse, one of the ends came off after a month. Changing my review to 3 stars because of these small issues that add up to what could have been an above average monitor.

I have worked from home for several years. I have been working with a laptop and a second external monitor. I wanted to get a larger second monitor and did a lot of searching on Amazon. I found this Dell but was a little uncertain because it was new and did not have many reviews. The price was good and I have always liked Dell products so I went ahead and ordered it. The large screen (32 inch) is wonderful! I dont know why I took so long to get a bigger monitor. The screen is clear and bright. I actually had to turn the brightness down a little to make it more comfortable. The 1440p resolution is very good. Text is sharp. I work with a lot of spreadsheets and it works great for this. Over the Christmas break a couple of my nephews brought their Xbox over with a 15 in monitor. I let them hook up to this Dell 32 inch and they were thrilled! (I rarely saw them again after that.) They said it worked great for their gaming. Mostly Fortnight and Call of Duty, also one car racing game. I didnt see any delays or slowness in the display when I watched a few times. I am very happy with the purchase!!

I just got this monitor and Im absolutely loving it - the colors are vivid and clear, the menu is easy to use, and its absolutely massive. The resolution is excellent, at 1440x2560 images appear crisp, and the excellent backlighting, contrast, and colors produce vivid, realistic images. Its not world-class resolution - a 4k monitor would be better for that, but price vs. performance wise this is pretty unbeatable, I mean, I can only see someone needing better resolution for this if they were a professional photo/video editor or maybe a hyper-competitive gamer. Given that I went from a 13.3" laptop screen to this monitor, I have over 4x the screen space - its SO easy to multitask. I can leave 4 windows open at once, allowing me to quickly work between multiple word/excel/chrome windows while also managing my music. I also used the monitor a bit for watching shows and gaming, and it performed excellently for both of those uses. This is an excellent monitor, and as one of the cheapest 32" QHDs on the market, I can give it my strongest recommendation!

I have been looking for a 32 in 2K display for a very long time now and majority of the had some backlight issue. I must say this product has almost no backlight bleed compared to $350+ peers. The base is very heavy and metallic, no safety issues here. Speakers gets the job done, do not expect miracles. Bezels are a bit thick but not in a way to bother you, it has normal bezels. Display is great, colors are great. At first I was worried about the size but in time you get used to it. No dead pixels. I got this monitor for $280 when it was on sale. You cant get a monitor in this quality for that price. Im very happy of my purchase.

This monitor cannot be beat for the price. I did run into an issue using the provided HDMI cable (with a mini display port adapter) with my Surface Book 2 and docking station. After some investigating I learned that HDMI has a maximum resolution of 1980x1020. I purchased a mini display port-to-display port cable and instantly my surface book switched to the recommended resolution of 2560x1440. Tons of screen real estate.

I was looking for a 4K monitor, but my graphics card would also need to be upgraded. 4K TVs are getting cheaper, but I really wanted a monitor because of all the text I look at and didnt want to gamble on letter quality. So I ended up looking at 2K monitors instead. This one was priced right, had a decent warranty, and good reviews except a few people saying it was just a 1080p monitor. The specs said otherwise, so I took a chance on it. I used an Amazon Basics DisplayPort cable to hook it up. I believe people who say it is a 1080p monitor are using the wrong cables, or have some other issue that forces the monitor to use the lower resolution. I have no such issue at all. There is no doubt that it is running in 2560 x 1440 quality. Text is crisp and clear. There are no dead pixels. Games and videos run great. Lots of extra screen space. Overall, I have had it for a month now and use it 8-12 hours per day every day. I am very happy with the purchase.

My monitor was flashed on and off (power was always on). I downloaded a driver for this monitor from the Dell site but had the same problem. Got in touch with Amazon tech support and after some questions such as check for cable tightness etc they routed me to the Dell tech support. Tech support was friendly and helpful, however their trouble shooting was less than it should be. Specifically - they sent me a replacement monitor that came in the next day. Very good. The new monitor acted the same as original one (going black randomly for about 4 or 5 seconds - this would happen 2 or three times an hour). After doing some internet research I found a site that recommended changing the Refresh rate from 60 Hz (default setting) to 75 Hz. It instantly corrected the problem and has been good since. More thorough troubleshooting would have save everyone a lot of time and money with all that hassle associated with product returns etc. My previous monitor is a Dell and that was a big reason I stayed with Dell. I have a 2018 computer with AMD Ryzen 3 2200G with Radeon Vega Graphics I use the monitor for stock screening (32" very good size for multiple charts etc) Also for photography editing etc.
