3440 x 1440 is amazing. I was worried that I would be disappointed going from a 4k g-sync monitor to this....Forget the 4k monitor, ultra-wide is it. The only way it could get better is with a higher resolution. But with the horse power that it would require its not really worth it yet. Ultra-wide makes gaming more immersive, really allows you to get drawn into the action. My only complaint, is that ultra-wide has been around for a little while and it is still really expensive. Granted this monitor has a pretty high refresh rate, which I must admit does make a big difference coming from the locked 60hz 4k world. Though in defense of Alienware, this monitor is perfect, almost no ips bleed, and no other issue to think of. As a warning though, it is A LOT bigger than I anticipated, so you will need a big desk for this behemoth. Also, unless you are coding and want to run a second monitor in portrait, dont even bother considering running another monitor with this. Trust me...

The monitor looks great, color is very accurate and theres no shift in color temperature across the panel..but it has quite a bit of IPS glow on the lower left corner of the display. I understand IPS glow is something that cannot be completely avoided especially on these curved monitors, but the lower left corner is noticeably whiter than the rest of the display and its quite irritating. I requested a replacement which will hopefully have less backlight bleed and no IPS glow. I will update this review once I receive and test the replacement. Update 2/18: The second monitor I received still has a lot of IPS glow on the left side and two dead pixels. Unacceptable for a monitor in this price range. These monitors look great but quality control is lacking. Third times a charm? Update 2/20 The third monitor just arrived and it looks great so Im changing my rating from 1 star to 5. Its almost flawless despite VERY minimal backlight bleed in the same left corner, but its not noticable at all unless the scene is very dark and you look at that corner. No dead pixels, no flickering at 120hz. My advice is, if you get a monitor with a dead pixel or noticable IPS glow during gameplay, request a replacement! Some are better than others.

I had great expectations for this monitor. Ive owned it for about 30 days. For the last two weeks, Ive had it overclocked at 120Hz. Unfortunately, like other reviewers have stated, the monitor has started flickering about every 5-10 seconds. Its very annoying and I had to set it back to 100Hz. Im going to return it while I can still get a refund, so Im bummed.

Manuf. date December 2018, Revision A06. 1440p resolution. Owned it about 2 months now, 20-30hrs per week gaming and general use. Thumbs up! --Love the Ultrawide size and resolution, the DPI is about perfect for me. The 1900r curve is nice at this aspect ratio. 1800r might have been a bit too tight for my tastes. --No dead or stuck pixels. --Thankfully none of the flickering issues this model has been known for. At least not yet after 2 months use at 120hz full OC. --G-sync performance is equal to my last 24” BenQ g-sync monitor; smooth with no screen tears. --I noticed none of the vignetting along the top edge of the sceen that some have reported. --Aesthetically the monitor seems quality. I am a fan of the suble, understated branding. Looks as a premium computer monitor should look IMO. --I actually think the value is pretty good here, was too pricey when it debuted at $1400, but $850 was a good deal for the features and quality I got. Thumbs down. --The backlight bleed struggle is real. Some say it’s IPS glow? Either way it’s mostly in the lower left corner, and a little at low right. I only notice it on black scenes, and then only if I look for it. I knew this was an issue going in, and I won’t dock a star for it. --The onscreen menu’s are a pain to navigate, but not the worst I’ve dealt with. --The powersaver feature is a bit glitchy. Once in a while it struggles to find a video signal after extended durations powered down. The fix is normally to power cycle my PC, so this may not be the monitors fault. Thus far I am happy with my purchase, and would buy this monitor again if I ever had need for a second one. I will update this review in the future if anything changes.

I just purchased an RTX 2080 and wanted to put it through its paces with a great screen, so I ordered this. It was almost great, but disappointed me in some non-negotiable ways, so I returned it. There are some definite pros, but Ill start out with the cons: Cons: 1. A lot of IPS glow in the lower left-hand corner, and some in the lower right-hand corner as well. For this price, that should be non-existent. 2. It does not work well with the Macbook Pro 2018. I have adapters for DisplayPort to Thunderbolt 3 and for HDMI to Thunderbolt 3. With the DisplayPort adapter, the monitor did not work at all. The monitor would not recognize that a computer was connected to the display. I use that adapter at work on a daily basis and it works great, so it must be something with the monitor. I was able to get the display to recognize the computer when I used the HDMI adapter, but I typically have to disconnect/reconnect the adapter or the HDMI cable several times before the monitor stops flashing and works. Finally, when I connect the monitor to the Macbook Pro, it completely disables audio on the laptop. Very annoying. * It only has one DisplayPort jack, so I couldnt connect a DP-to-DP-mini and a DP-to-DP cable. It ended up not mattering, because it didnt work with my Macbook Pro anyway, but if they fixed the firmware or somehow made that work, then it would have been nice to be able to leave it connected to my PC and my Mac. Note: I tested an other Macbook Pro that has a native mini-DP port and it did work with that. Pros: * If you plan on using this exclusively with a PC, or with an other Macbook Pro, then the resolution and picture quality is excellent. Playing games on this was an incredibly immersive and satisfying experience, except for the ever-present IPS glow in the lower left-hand corner. If you are lucky enough to get one without IPS glow, and you dont use it with a Macbook Pro 2018, youll be very happy with this monitor.

Ive been steadily upgrading my monitor over the last several years, going from an ASUS VS247H-P in 2013, to a BenQ XL2730z 1440p@144Hz in 2015-ish, to this behemoth. And man, what a nice monitor. 21:9 monitors are really immersive when gaming, especially in a semi-competitive FPS like Battlefield or Destiny 2. The slight LED lighting is a nice touch, with a glow being cast on my wall when I game at night. But, it doesnt stop there. Im a software developer, and this monitor is awesome (if not absolutely overkill) for it. Nothing like having what essentially amounts to 2 full-size windows for Visual Studio or VS Code up at once.

Gonna keep this short and simple. The monitor looks great, color is good, curve is good. 120hz overclock is meh - should be out of the box 120hz and tested to not have any of the issues that us users are facing. Problem is it is day one. I have this monitor plugged in and about every 2-3 minutes I am met with about 2-3 black flashes on the screen. So scenario you are aiming at an enemy player. Then BAM black screen - screen comes back - keep playing - BAM black screen again... you dont pay almost $1000.00 for this experience. This never happened on my ASUS 1440p 144hz panel... Maybe once in 3 years of ownership. I have RMAd this unit and hope the next one is without issue. Update: Have received the new unit and the same issue persists DAY ONE. A google search of this model number on Dell XPS support page and you will see quite a few people with this "flickering" issue. The monitor does not work 100% all the time at 120hz. I have tested both on two machines. One with a 1080ti and another machine with a 2080... so its not the hardware. Will RMA the second unit and hope the third can operate at 120hz for more than one day...

I have a Ryzen 7 2700X and EVGA GTX 1080 TI FTW3 & Macbook Pro 13" 2015 and I have tested numerous monitors including: Dell Ultrasharp 2560 X 1440 @ 60 Hz Samsung curved 32" VA @ 144 Hz (no sync technology) LG 4K IPS @ 60 Hz (Freesync, but before Nvidia - Freesync compatibility driver update (google for more info)) LG Ultrawide 3440 X 1440 IPS @ 60 Hz (Freesync, have tested and can confirm moderate compatibility with Nvidia cards (slight problems due to low variable Hz range)) ViewSonic 35" Ultrawide 3440 X 1440 MVA @ 100 Hz Native (Freesync works great with Nvidia cards) Dell Alienware 34" Ultrawide 3440 X 1440 IPS @ 100 Hz Native; 120 OC (G-Sync, works great from my tests and comparable to Freesync namely ViewSonic panel) Im gonna make things simple, I love the colors/color reproduction and overall experience of most IPS panels I have owned. They look so crisp and clear and have consistent uniformity. The Dell AW3418DW was a noticeable and disappointing decrease in overall panel experience. The IPS had glow and backlight bleed, the whites looked warm, brightness suffers and colors look dull comparatively speaking. I had to pass on this monitor because I expected a better overall panel. G-Sync works good and gaming is sooo sweet. The design was a huge selling point as Alienware has always been a cool brand to me even before getting into PC gaming. Honestly, if you havent experienced an IPS panel and this is your first big step up then you probably wont be disappointed, but since I have used so many good panels and I can say that this one is a no go for the price. I listed the other monitors to give you an idea of what I have tested and some of those panels did have QC problems, but that aside, they lacked for my needs. I have found myself at the point of IPS love. BUT the new ViewSonic 35inch XG350R-C MVA Ultrawide with 100 Hz and Freesync is so nice besides some QC issues. I have tested it right next to the Alienware and can say that most pictures look better on the VS and gaming is very similar. Not gonna say this Alienware panel is bad, but it needs a better panel, but needs to keep the design. If you could update this monitor with a new LG Nano IPS display with G-Sync/Freesync, sign me up!

100hz native refresh rate, overclockable to 120hz, GSYNC, 34inch QHD panel and some truly awesome lighting effects all bundle in one extremely well crafted, bad ass looking monitor. This right here is the crème de la crème of ultra-wide gaming monitors and quite possibly the best there is on the market at the time of this writing. I believe if you can find this monitor on sale for $999 as I did then its a no brainer to pick it up over its competitors. The AW3418DW offers everything youve been waiting for in a ultra-wide with no compromises. The monitor overclocked to a full 120hz, No black light bleed, dead pixels or any of the sort on the model I was delivered. Im coming from a 24inch 1080p/60hz monitor and I was mind blown of the difference. There is nothing quite like it when you actually start gaming on a monitor like this in front of you. There are similar spec monitors coming out later this year in the ultra-wide format but as many of you know with premium features such as higher refresh rates, GSYNC, and HDR the price tag will be steep. If money isnt an option maybe wait to see what this year brings for the gaming monitor scene. In the meantime everyone looking for an upgrade now, I say buy this with full confidence, youll be more than happy with your purchase.
