If you want one of the best 4k monitors available then that is what you will get with this. The price tag may deter you but this is probably the best monitor I have every owned and nothing on it feels cheap at all. Absolutely zero issues with this monitor, worth every penny.

So after giving this display a good time to get used to I think I can now properly review it. First thing I noticed is white screens are absolutely dreadfully bright. Being the person who is obsessed with saturated colors, no I will not lower the brightness. Either way that makes this a great display for HDR as it usually has white objects mapped to a special brightness level. Blacks are both great, and disappointing. Great in that you get actual blacks (I game in the dark so big props) but since the dimming zones are decently large you will see the backlight glow around objects on a black background. In games it isnt as much an issue as fully dark screens are uncommon, but on videos it can be pretty bothersome. You wont be forgetting this isnt OLED. The refresh rate is fantastic, and personally the chroma subsampling isnt noticable even when overclocked. Just to be clear, in 4K 120hz mode it will actually do full SRGB instead so it doesnt look any different than normal. It just lacks the extra colors that are only possible at 98hz or below. I havent noticed any IPS smearing or ghosting either so image remains good in high response moments. And can however confirm a few things this display is not good at. First, the panels backlight is not perfectly balanced across the board as it does have some darker and brighter patches which I would say is almost unacceptable at this price. With FALD you dont notice it but that doesnt excuse the fact the backlight is not perfectly balanced. The fan is another thing. If you PC is quite and you have open backed headphones, you may be able to hear it. It is relatively quite but being that most monitors lack this hurts it competitively. The fan also results in an odd warm spot just below it being nearly 10 degrees warmer than the air around it. And worst of all, the fan takes nearly 10 minutes to shut off after you turn it off. And if you turned off deep sleep in the OSD it will never turn off. Another small gripe is the stand. It barely fits on my desk. It kinda feels unsafe with my $2K monitor only millimeters from crashing off the desk. It is VESA certified, but I hear most mounts block the fans causing them to get louder. Its a really hard display to recommend unless you really want true HDR and 4K as beyond that its a real hit or miss for $2000. Id honestly recommend for most people to go with a cheap $300 1440p monitor for the time being and to upgrade when microLED takes off.

Amazing monitor it has improved my vision once again. I thought that i was seeing things more clearly in 4k resolution but once i tried 4k HDR 98hz with that 10bit color panel my life was changed once again! Highly recommend!

Very nice monitor for 4K gaming. My only complaint is that it wasn’t boxed properly by Amazon. The monitor came in it’s original box (no other additional packaging) which was kind of bitten up! My setup for this monitor is RTX 2080 Ti SLI which works really good for this 4K screen. The price of this monitor is a bit too high but I have to say that this is the top 4K screen that you can find in the market atm.

Coming from a PG279q I was a bit Skeptical, but lets just say I am very glad I pulled the trigger on this monitor. HDR at 1000 nits is breathtaking. 4k is a nice, noticable step up from 1440p but the color accuracy and the HDR, did i say HDR already? it will melt you eye balz.

I read the reviews, and I was skeptical about making this purchase($2000!!) for a long time. Let me tell you: fear not! I received a flawless product. I read about dead pixels: not a one. I read about something called light bleed: the picture on this thing is fantastic, not one bit of extra glow (unless you count the red "Strix" party lights). I read about not getting 144hz: have been getting it since I plugged it in and enabled the 144hz mode. 4ms latency from 2ms latency: if you hadnt told me I still wouldnt know the difference. Literally every bad experience with this monitor I read about has NOT happened to me. G-Sync is something else, totally blown away by what it brings to the table. For reference, I have: Asus X99-A, i7 6850k @ 4.1mhz, ROG Strix RTX 2080 OC, 2800hz DDR4. This thing can push out above 60fps 4k on anything. And with HDR, anything that supports HDR as well (G-Sync HDR is what makes it happen I believe). I have been getting ~55-100+ fps on Mankind Divided, AC: Odyssey, GTAV, FO4, and others. Smoothest gaming Ive ever experienced. If you have the money to burn ($2000!!), you will not be disappointed. Solid base, smooth adjustments, cables for everything, plus some extra stuff(lenses for the lights, stuff like that). I really couldnt be happier. The picture is lifelike, the refresh rate is blazing, if the money doesnt matter more than the experience, this is the monitor to buy.

This monitor is absolutely stunning, especially when you are playing a game that has good HDR support. The local dimming is amazing and there is no response time issues. If you ignore the cost, there is nothing lacking about this monitor. Having said that, this is nearly a $2000 monitor and for that price, there are some things I would expect. The stand is very large, if you dont have a deep desk it will be pushing your peripherals closer to the edge of the desk, which I do not like. Everything but the base is made of plastic, while this doesnt bother me too much, I think more premium materials could have been used since this costs as much as an OLED television. Along that same line, the ROG light projector, desk projector, and RGB insignia on the back are a bit tacky, but that is just taste. I had heard grievances about haloing because of the local dimming zones, but it is not noticeable in games or viewing content. The only time I have noticed it is when the mouse tracks across a sizable portion of flat black.

There are a number of significant issues. 1. The fan is noisy. Its as loud or louder than my air-cooled desktop. There must be a better way to cool down the hot components that doesnt require this level of noise. 2. THE FAN DOES NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN THE MONITOR IS TURNED OFF. This is the biggest issue for me. I still cant believe that anyone would think this is acceptable. My gaming setup is in my bedroom - if I want to go to sleep I need to unplug my monitor from the wall socket. How did this never raise a red flag during the design process? Today I realized I take for granted that my electronics turn off when I turn them off. 3. There are at least 2 dead pixels on arrival that I noticed. Something this expensive should have no more than 0. 4. The IPS glow effect hurts my eyes on my black-background desktop. Im more inclined to blame this on IPS technology than the monitor itself, but thought I should mention it for anyone thinking of getting their first IPS monitor. 5. I paid for a new monitor and the packing leads me to believe that is not what I received. My name is not Ken. Asus needs to go back to basics on this one. For a monitor that costs as much as a good gaming desktop, the lack of quality control and the ridiculous decisions surrounding the fan are unforgivable.

Like a few other users here, I too was shipped a display with bad pixels. Buyer beware.

The fan never shuts off. When I turn off the monitor the fan continues to run. Why?!
