I knew going into it that this is an LCD and not an LED, and I now regret it. The difference is very clear. The sheer size of the monitor makes up for it but it also falls short in the speakers. Yes I know, what could I have possibly expected from built-in speakers? But the promises of B&O quality got me and I regret that as well. The monitor is very decent and I cant complain but I wish I would have gotten LED. These are older units so anyone purchasing this just know that you may be disappointed with the quality although the value is definitely there. Hope this helps! Other than that, the monitor externally looks dope!

So I got this monitor as a Christmas gift for my self. Ive been extremely happy with it so far. I use one HDMI port for my gaming desktop, and the other for my Xbox One and both look great on the monitor. I did have one hardware issue with the monitor when I first got it though. The touch control buttons were messed up. They would activate randomly if I touched the monitor anywhere at all, like when adjusting the tilt. I wouldnt recommend this but I did fix it by giving the back of the monitor a bit of a smack on the side with the buttons lol. Now the buttons only activate when I actually touch them. I guess something got bumped out of place in shipping but thankfully I was able to fix that. Other than that Ive had zero issues, and would highly recommend this monitor. It looks beautiful, both the picture quality and the monitor its self. Colors pop, and I dont notice any ghosting or latency issues. Very happy with my purchase. The rest of the review will just be some tips on how I setup the monitor with my PC and Xbox One. The link at the end of this review will take you to the ASUS page where you can download the driver/icc profile for the monitor. Just a heads up if you are running Windows 10. Windows 10 will probably download and install the driver/icc profile automatically if you either check windows update or use device managers monitor section to check for the latest driver. If not use the following directions. ASUS dose not show any drivers if you select Windows 10, and I could not get the 8.1 driver to install on Windows 10. However the Windows 7 x64 driver at the link below worked just fine for me on Windows 10 by installing it through the device manager using the "update driver software" option. This should also install the .icc profile for the monitor as well, but if it dose not just double click it in the files you downloaded and it should install. Make sure you set the MX279 profile as your active/default as well, I will post a link to guide for doing this at the end also. After installing the driver, and color profile I was able to get a great picture with just the "standard mode" on the monitor. The only setting I changed on the monitor was lowering the brightness a bit down to 80. I set the "trace free" setting to zero on the monitors settings because I didnt see any benefit with it on and it caused some weird artifacts in a 2D side scrolling game I was playing. Also if you have a nvidia graphics card make sure you have it set to use "RGB Full" instead of "limited", it makes a big difference. Open Nvidia control panel and go to "change resolution" under the "Display" section on the left side of the control panel. Make sure "output color format" is set to "RGB" and "output dynamic range" is set to "full" and click apply. Make sure you check this each time you update your GPU driver as well because it will sometimes reset when you install new nvidia drivers. Hope this helps someone out :) If you use a Xbox one with this monitor I recommend doing the following on your Xbox One. Go to Settings>Display & Sound>>Video Output, then change the "Color Space" to "PC RGB". [...] [...] Update: 5/18/2016 Im still loving this monitor. Zero issues and looks fantastic. The only nitpick I can think of is one of the touch buttons. I keep the volume controller for my speakers under the right side of the monitor where the touch buttons are. A lot of the time I accidentally knock the far left button which activates a feature I have zero use for. It turns on some on screen overlays with stuff like paper sizes. You have to hit the button 5 or 6 more times and cycle through all the different overlays to turn it off. Wish the buttons were just regular physical buttons instead of touch sensitive. Thats my only complaint.

Huge monitor (when going from a 19.5" - 1680x1050), which took a few days to get used to. I had to move it further back on the desk, so ensure you have some extra depth on your workspace if moving up from around a 20" monitor. My wife decided on the 25" version (which I purchased the day after this arrived), as she feels 27" is a little too large. I was a little worried about the image not being sharp as I went for the 1920x1080 version, I was wrong, for me its more than enough. Theres plenty of options in the on-screen menu to adjust the image to your liking. Theres no height adjustment, however the tilt is perfect. No dead pixels, which was nice. The speakers were surprisingly good, better than I was expecting. They wont fill a room, but for moderate personal sound theyre more than enough. I sometimes switch to them from my dedicated speaker system for early hours. Packaging was solid, and everything was in the box as described. There was no damage, not even a scratch. Very easy to put together, and I really like the metal stand.

Two year review. This monitor is still performing flawlessly. I use external speakers because Im a music nut, and need a better range than these can provide. I use this monitor in an automotive repair shop and I still get compliments from my customers saying how good it looks. The picture isnt as crisp as some 1080 monitors, but I needed the non-glare screen, as we have windows behind us. This helps tremendously, but in turn loses a little picture quality. I use it for side by side applications, Excel on one side, browser on the other side. Works great and I would buy it again.

Replaced an aging Viewsonic that was turning itself off and on 50x an hour. My only real complaint is that the sound has no adjustment options whatsoever. Its a little on the low volume side. But it has too much bass for my liking. There are no menu options to adjust it. I was temporarily using a 24" Samsung tv as a monitor, which was a mess. This Asus works perfecly with my KVM. Ecomode is a disaster. The screen is constantly going bright and dim. Ill probably never use that. Update: A month later, Im thrilled with this monitor. The design is great and it takes up the same space as my last, 24" monitor. Once set up, the menu shortcomings dont matter. Im getting used the the bass-y sound.

ASUS customer service: 5 stars Clear directions on connecting a Macbook Pro: 1 star (hint: extra purchases required). I used an HDMI to USB-C connector. Ease of set-up once you have the right connectors: 5 stars (plug and play is great). Screen resolution: 1 star. OMG. I used to think the whole "retina" display was marketing hype. I was SO wrong. And the 1080p (=1920 x 1080) is really big and super fuzzy compared to my laptop. I definitely did not appreciate how 1920x1080 doesnt give you much real estate on the screen. You get what you pay for. My recommendation is to spend the $ for a higher resolution - youll make up the difference in eye strain.

After piloting this monitor against three other models, my office decided on this monitor for all of our designers. My office does a mix of graphic design, instructional design, multimedia, and other graphics heavy work. The colors are rich and very well defined. The refresh rate ensures that all images are clean. The matte finish keeps glare to a minimum from any light source. The only draw back to these monitors are the function buttons. The buttons will trigger if you breathe on them wrong. Otherwise, after installing a pair of these at more than 40 work stations, my office has had nothing but rave reviews.

Monitor is great. Had some trouble getting it to work with my MAC. Called ASUS support. Was told Id need to install a driver - $199!!! Hung up. Called back. Was told I needed to install driver - no charge. Tech accessed my computer, told me I had malware. Could fix it for $299!!! And if I was over 50, I could have a discount and get malware remover for just $199. This is ridiculous. These guys are obviously on commission. Called a friend who had me uncheck "MIRROR" then recheck it under Preferences/displays. Voila! It worked. He suggested I take it in to MAC genius bar just to have it cleaned up. I have a warranty, so thats on my to-do list. INSANE tech support. Ridiculous. Enough to keep me from buying anymore ASUS products!

Ive been using this monitor for about 3 months and have been very pleased with every aspect of its performance. It was highly recommended as a gaming monitor on displaylag.com, with a very, very low lag time. In playing "Need for Speed" and "Destiny" on my PS4, as far as Im concerned, the amount of display lag is imperceptible. The display is beautiful and highly configurable. I have the PS4 connected to one HDMI port, and my desktop computer connected to the other. Im using it as a second monitor for my PC and the additional screen real estate is great. PC video card configuration was quick and easy. Like other reviewers, Id say this 27" screen is about the limit for 1080P resolution. Text isnt quite as sharp as on my 24" lcd monitor, but it isnt so bad that you couldnt use this as a primary monitor, in my opinion. Im typing this review using the Asus MX279H, and its not a problem at all. About the only negative I can see, and its very minor, are the touch controls for the monitor configuration. Theyre quite sensitive, and their placement at the outer edge of the monitor makes them a little tricky to use, since the monitor wants to wobble a little due to the base design. But if youre not changing configurations often, its a non-issue. Very highly recommend.

This is perfect for my purposes, which is working full time. I do data entry all day, every day. This monitor has built in blue light filters, which my eyes thank me for. The size is perfect, resolution crisp. When I am done working I can flip this to my personal desktop for light gaming (Ive only actually tried Guild Wars 2 - but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Also, in my all-in-one room I have this hooked up to my FireTV so that I can stream shows while I am working in my craft room - the built in speakers were a must since this is one of my primary uses. The sound is directed out of the sides of the monitor, so it isnt as good as my surround sound gaming speakers that I gave to my husband, but it works. The only thing I wish I could add would be a remote for the volume.
