UPDATED: Pictures show how HDR (actually just 8-bit FRC in Windows mode, not real HDR) works to improve the color gamut in Hitman 2. I really like it. At least the first monitor of Aorus, I expect more firmware updates soon to fix the bugs. Especially HDR black screen bugs. Update: I changed to AMD Radeon VII to see the diferences between Nvidia GPUs and AMD GPUs on this monitor. You may know the result. AMD GPUs perform very well on this monitor. All issues I have on 1080Ti now gone with my new Radeon VII. Nvidia can enable Freesync, but not 100% Freesync. With my 1080Ti, on the scale of 100, I can say Freesync and HDR score only 80/100. Since Freesync can work properly with HDR, I think Freesync and Freesync 2 HDR are the same (only about input lag which I feel nothing laggy anyway, but it should exist). For me, 8-bit FRC mode on AMD GPUs performs better than Nvidia. The color, the lights, the graphics are so much better. If you are using an Nvidia GPU, you can still get it with some color adjustments. Dont worry, this one is the best choice you can get right now. HDR (8-bit FRC) > RTX trust me ;)) Pros: - G-Sync fully compatible. But you will have to enable it in Nvidia Control Panel, also choose Gsync in both full screen and windows mode. - HDR will only work in full screen mode only. Remember this. - 8-bit +FRC which Windows will show 8-bit and dithering (must turn on HDR in Windows display settings). As good as HDR10 but this is not HDR10. But its not 10-bit anyway. See below for the instruction for 10-bit. - Beautiful colors, better than other HDR monitors I can say. - IPS panel, good response time (at least as good as my XB271HU TN panel). - You can draw your own crosshairs. - HDR is great, I play Battlefield V and now I can see the enemies 10 times better than non HDR monitors. - HDR 400 is decent for gaming monitors. I turned max the brightness and almost burned my eyes. - Not sure how, but I can change the resolution to 4K and then turn on Super Resolution. Native 4K 60fps easy mode ;)) - If you want to enable 10-bit native (if it exits), you need to go to Nvidia Control Panel, lower the refresh rate to 120hz, then choose Nvidia settings below, change 8 bpc to 10 bpc. Also, you have to use Displayport cable. Now, it will show 10-bit in Display Settings of Windows. Cant reach 144Hz with Displayport 1.2. Not enough bandwidth even Displayport 1.4. So actually no noticeable diference between 8-bit dithering and 10-bit at all. But I recommend using 8-bit and dithering @ 144hz to have better speed for gaming experience. If youre an expert in graphics, this one is not for you then. - Different power cables for other countries. Awesome!! - GFreesync range 48-144Hz at 1440p, 48-60Hz at 4K SR. Displayport required. If you use freesync, HDMI 2.0 will work just fine. - LFC LFC LFC Cons: - HDR is still buggy somehow. But rare. The screen usually flickers after quiting HDR games. I have to open other apps to clear the screen. Wait for the firmware updates. - OSD Sidekicks doesnt show correct values. - You turn on Freesync, then you cannot turn on Aim Stabilizer. Pick one only. - AMD web page comfirmed that Aorus AD27QD only has Freesync 1 at this time. It seems very hard to find Freesync 2 HDR monitors these days. It doesnt matter because you will not feel anything I can guarantee. - Software needs more works since I dont think we have more benefits than other monitors beside HDR and 10 bit. - RGB seems okay but odd. Since all Aorus products have RGB, so its not a big deal. But at least make it brighter next time. Or just use RGB like MSI, Razer or Asus did. I say things, you make choice. I feel good, but a little pricey. A little pricey A little pricey A little pricey A little pricey At least not $2000 like Asus or Acer. You know why this monitor is called near-perfect? No curve, No bezel less, No speakers, Aim Stabilizer problems, Software is weird, No displayport 1.4. But we can expect next year right? Also if you have backlight bleed, dead pixel or whatever problems, return for a new one, monitors are not equal so we call it monitor lottery. Putting negative reviews for those things just make you look stupid. So good luck then ;)) If you are wondering about getting this monitor or the Razer Raptor 27", I suggest this one. Better software + adjustable stand with vesa mount + higher brightness peak for HDR + $100 cheaper. Guess what? You will definitely need this Aorus.

Pros: Accurate Colors out of the Box - Did some quick reference tests and did not really need to adjust settings. Great Adjustment Options- Can adjust to almost any angle I could want. Very Minimal Backlight Bleed/IPS Glow- There is some however not as much of a bother as some IPS screens I have seen. Cons: Stuck Pixel- I have one stuck pixel which I couldnt fix using common methods. Its only really shows on black screens and out of the way enough to deal with RMA. Dust in Screen- I also had some dust in my screen that I was able to flick away. However your mileage may vary. Short Cables- Maybe its just my use case however the included cables were too short and could barely plug in the power cable. The Biggest Con: Smearing/Response Times for Gaming. To reach the claimed 1MS you have to disable FreeSync to turn on Aim Stablizer or Ultra Low Motion Blur which introduces some strobing. Then if you want to have FreeSync on and still want a fast Response Time then you need to turn the OverDrive on the highest setting. If you do though it introduces a bunch of smearing and ghosting. If you are sensitive to it then its going to look terrible. If you put on the regular Balanced Overdrive it doesnt look too bad. I hope this is something that Gigabyte/Aorus can adjust in Firmware. Biggest Positive: AMAZINGLY Low Input Lag- I am coming from a very fast TN Panel with very low input lag already and this is a step above. I think I could get used to the smearing/ghosting for fast games like FPSs since actions seem instantaneous.

First i want to start by saying that overall i think this monitor is absolutely gorgeous build quality wise and image wise. But there are some serious issues currently with the HDR and the title for the monitor is a bit miss leading. First you cannot use 10 bit and 144hz as you have to lower the FPS to 120 to enable 10bit color. Also if you enable HDR in the display setting of windows with freesync turned on you will get blank black screens and crashing in alot of games. Gysnc works pretty OK on this monitor but the experience in windowed mode isnt the best. Also the Display port cable they include is far to short and i ended up just buying a new one. Now that the Cons are out of the way i have to say the image quality on this monitor is so far beyond anything i have ever seen. Colors on this monitor absolutely pop especially in games like overwatch, which is honestly on of the most impressive games visual just because of the art style. Also the OSD sidekick program is a really nice feature but make sure to connect the included USB cable or you cant use it. As far as HDR goes if you leave the monitor on 144hz 8bit mode in the display port + HDR mode on the monitor you can get gsync + HDR to work in games like Mass Effect, Dragon dogma, BF5, Tomb Raider, Assassin Creed and Destiny 2. I would recommend a couple settings, first in Geforce control panel in the adjust screen have it set to GPU and override, on the OSD of the monitor not he program display the input notification, and the setting right below it "cant remember what it is right now" Just anything that would create a notification on the monitor as i have seen this crash some games. So all in all i would definitely recommend this monitor but you should know what you are getting into. I have hopes that with driver updates and maybe some firmware updates the overall experience gets a bit better and less stressful. ***Side note after you are done playing a HDR game like Assassin Creed i would check the display settings in windows to make sure HDR didnt get turned on as the next game you launch will most likely crash. Also HDR in fullscreen mode is completely broken in Ni No Kuni 2 but that is an issue with nvidia and the drivers not the monitor.

I will preface this review by letting you know that you must get a VESA approved Display Port Cable or you wont share the same good experience I have with this monitor. For example: Club3D CAC-2068 DisplayPort 1.4/HBR3. This cable made changes to the settings of the monitor that the DP cable provided with the monitor simply didnt produce. Example 1: OEM DP Cable slow to wake up monitor from a cold PC boot. Thus, I missed most of the PC Post details. With Club3D CAC-2068 DisplayPort cable the monitor snaps out of sleep mode almost instantly Example 2: OEM DP Cable would black screen whenever I would change the resolution and/or refresh rate. With Club3D CAC-2068 DisplayPort cable its now instant without blackscreen/delay. Example 3: OEM DP Cable: the Super Resolution would only sharpen text, lines no different then the Sharpening feature found in the OSD. With Club3D CAC-2068 DisplayPort cable text and lines are more defined, richer, bolder, darker and/or whiter making it more defined and noticeable. A stark difference then just sharpening it. I went from 0 (old cable) to 1 with new cable. Example 4: OEM DP Cable with Overdrive: Quality and Display Settings at FPS the game was noticeable input lag. Speed was the only/best option for gaming. With Club3D CAC-2068 DisplayPort cable Overdrive: Quality and Display Settings at FPS the game does show a slight lag but its correctable by increasing the dpi of the mouse. No, Im serious, its correctable. With Overdrive: Quality and Display Settings at FPS the game I notice 1:1 response time and I had to lower the mouse DPI to compensate for it from Quality. There are firmware and utility updates to improve the monitor this month and things are only going to get better. FreeSync works without issue. Image Quality is simply beautiful to me. I havent found a need to use Aim Stabilizer as of yet because Ive been happy with FPS/OD: Speed. I really dont want to repeat with others said about this monitor. I would recommend this monitor in a heartbeat. Heck, even Game Nexus (YT) uses the monitor in their video(s). Caveats: You have to connect a usb cable from monitor to PC in order to use the OSD from win10. There are firmware updates that are currently addressing outstanding issues. So, this monitor is still maturing. Whenever you update the firmware you want to also get the newer version of OSD_Sidekick to correlate. Turning off the monitor is a bit tricky. You have to push the joystick up, wait for the osd to display the option to turn it off then move the joystick towards you in order to turn it off (if its already on). If the monitor is already in sleep mode you have to push the joystick/toggle in, then wait a few seconds before the osd option becomes available.

Update #1: Gigabyte accepted my RMA request. However, they do not cover the cost of shipping to them, only the shipping back to you. The total cost with UPS to send the monitor to them was $104. This is bad customer service. I now have over $700 invested into the monitor. Also, because they do not provide a prepaid shipping label, they do not have a way of tracking that Ive returned the item or when they will receive it. You must return the item with 30 days of starting the RMA process. If they do not receive it they will cancel the request. Say something happens during shipping and the monitor does not make it to Gigabyte, It could potentially become an even more serious issue. Original Review: The monitor is very good for gaming, maybe a little pricey, and the osd sidekick software is a nice feature. However, I occasionally has issues with the screen going black and eventually the monitor simply wouldnt power on anymore. Kind of disappointing since the monitor was less than two months old. The amazon return window has already expired so I have started the RMA process with gigabyte. I will keep the review up to date as I go through the process.

I wanted this monitor for so long after reading the reviews. The colors are really good and the brightness is amazing. Compared to my alienware 34" which is very dim even at 100 brightness. The aorus had bad blb and also a blue stuck pixel near the center of the screen. I mostly play division, destiny and rpg games. They all have dark scenes and with the blb this monitor had it, was very annoying.

I was skeptical to spend this amount of money on a monitor but it just checked all the boxes. HDR, 144hz, 1440p, IPS Display. The current reviews were enough for me to pull the trigger and try. Coming from the Dell s2417dg, its been night and day for my experience. Horrible color banding on the dell and i was fed up and bought this. I have been loving it for the most part. I have a gtx 1070 and the gsync has worked on this freesync monitor. I was having issues at 144hz. But 120 hz has allowed me hdr + great blacks and color in all my games so far. RE2 Remake, AC Odyssey and metro Exodus. There seems to be a little IPS glow but its not intrusive to the immersion and has been running well. Its not perfect, as the osd software needs some work and Im curious to Future monitor firmware updates. One thing i cant seem to fix: my monitors screen timeout wont work. I think it may be the usb connection between the monitor and my PC but i cant do anything to get it to work. In the end, Im glad i purchased it as its been the best bang for my buck with features and quality.

Summary: I would not recommend buying this monitor based on my experience. Too expensive for what they deliver. You can buy a cheaper one that delivers the same experience. I had a lot of trouble using the monitor for 6 hours and decided to return. Experience. Bought this monitor after reading and watching a lot of reviews. I was looking for an IPS panel, high refresh rate, for the main use of 80% gaming and 20% to work. When I turned on the monitor using my Mac and by "mistake" I clicked on super-resolution, the monitor just shut down and I couldnt even access the monitor navigation. So, I moved to my PC to play some game. After reading a lot of reviews, Ive set up the monitor to have the best experience. After one hour playing the monitor started to turn on and off while I was gaming. I first thought oh, maybe is my graphics card but it wasnt true because with my friends monitor was working perfectly. I got upset having a that bad experience that Im returning and staying with my LG 4k 60hz which the quality is amazing but refresh rate badly. + Pros The color is definitely is great The refresh rate is good IPS panel They have software that you can use to control settings of the monitor. – Cons • The monitor design is not great. I knew that before that. Is hard to find a monitor that looks clean with all those specs. Tip: Is there an opportunity... • The monitor should have usb down and up • USB C? I really care about detail. The OS typography is not sharp as on other IPS panel. Which means you would get more quality in other monitors. Too expensive monitor for what they deliver. My Setup: 3.2GHz 6‑core i7 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 1TB SSD External GPU Razor X with a Vega 64 8GB

Using this monitor for a couple of days and I am impressed. I think what everybody wants to know is about Dead Pixels, IPS glow and Backlight Bleeding, right? Well, NO dead pixels for me). As for IPS glow, I think it is moderate, and I have a very small strip of Backlight bleed on my left side. IPS glow (inherent to IPS panels) or BLB are barely noticeable during use, only in perceivable TOTALLY black screens. During all day use (games, movies, office, etc) I do not see it at all. The colours are very rich and the panel is VERY bright (I was used to a supposed 350 nit TN 144 Hz before and the difference is huge). The built feels VERY sturdy, and the monitor is HEAVY! As for HDR, I really have to test it more but I do not like right now (as said, my other panel did not had that option, so I got used to calibrate my screen without HDR). Between 10bit colours +120 Hz or 8bit +144 Hz I see no difference colourwise so I am sticking with the 8bit+144Hz (you cant have 10bit + 144HZ). The software is very friendly to calibrate the monitor on the fly, without clicking and clicking the joystick. There are some bugs, for example, some hotkeys do not activate the assigned function (Crosshair is one) Other user said the provided DP cable was short. I disagree, it is 1,5 m long, enough at least for my needs (my PC sits under my deskt and the cable permits rotating the monitor with no problem). I like RGB, for me it is a little plus, but do not expect much, it is not very bright at max settings. Rounding up, it is a nice monitor, has some little flaws, but still RECOMMENDED!
