This is a decent hybrid and good for basic browser/tablet tasks. If you try to do much more with it, you might be disappointed. Im ok with the $350 Black Friday price, but would be disappointed if I spent $500 on this, so giving it 3 stars instead of 4. Paying $600 for the m3 processor would be too much for this class of device, especially with only 4gb ram. It does fine for browsing, but Android apps can be kind of glitchy. Touch responsiveness can be spotty in tablet mode. This might be ChromeOS fault, but its an advertised feature and should be expected to work. Using a 2k external monitor over usb-c works, but is choppy. Im guessing this is a combination of the low ram and integrated graphics (cpu usage wasnt high). I wouldnt do it regularly. I like that is has 2 usb-c ports, but putting them both on the same side is annoying. The screen half is much heavier than other laptops Ive used and makes it hard to balance on your lap. The camera on the body is pointless unless you plan to take photos in tablet mode (dont be that person). The keyboard is fine, but the touchpad is a little cramped. This just comes with the territory on this size device. Basically it does a lot of things adequately and not much more. If youre ok with that, you might like it. For the price, you could get a much better tablet or laptop, but this gives you a little of both. Pros: - USB-C - Screen - Stylus - Size - Build quality Cons: - Speed/responsiveness - Weight (top-heavy screen) - Thickness - Price

I was looking for a new Chromie to give my sister as a gift. The Plus V2 jut came out. This thing is beautiful and turbo fast. We have about 50 laptops in our house as we live in Silicon Valley and constantly try and keep up. I use an ASUS C302; wifey has the Google Pixelbook. The only drawback is the non backlit keyboard. If you can get past this, you will love the Samsung Chromebook Plus. I have given 2 of the original models as gifts. Cloud, baby! Update on Thanksgiving - At $449, this thing is a freakin steal!

There seems to be multiple versions of the Samsung Chromebook Plus, 2-in-1, Intel Core m3, 4GB RAM, 64GB. Best Buys is selling the XE521QAB-K02US which has a metal top, metal keyboard deck and a plastic bottom. It weight 2.93 lbs and has a 30 Watt Hours battery. Amazon is selling the XE520QAB-K02US which has a plastic top, plastic keyboard deck and a plastic bottom. It weight 2.98 lbs and has a 39 Watt Hours battery. I own the latter. I like the extra 30% battery life. I do the find keyboard wrist rest a bit uncomfortable since the plastic edge is not rounded like the metal version.

This is really a high quality machine. The price I paid almost reflected that quality, but I snagged it when an incredible deal was running. The m3 processor is more than enough power to do regular tasks that anyone does online plus all the productivity work that is needed in a workplace. My wife is a teacher and this was purchased for her, so most of this feedback is from what shes said as shes used it. First, lets talk about the display. It really is a beautiful display with accurate-enough colors. It gets a little over-saturated in some situations and under-saturated in others, creating some awkward hue on backgrounds of darker movies or webpages. But those are only noticeable while objects are moving (or when youre scrolling) and theres a lot of action on the screen. It gets bright enough for most situations and in the previous Pro model I wondered why it got as bright as it did. Watching reviews it seemed like you almost dont need to use a lamp to lighten a room, just turn the display face up and turn it up; that should be plenty to light an entire bedroom. Second is the quality of the material. The device feels like a brushed aluminum or other metal material with some plastic in some places. This is about right for the price, considering an even better quality of material would get you easily spending $900+. The keyboard feels fantastic and the touchscreen hasnt had a single hiccup yet after about 2 months of use. Third, lets talk about functionality. And, before we begin, lets remember this is a Chromebook. This wasnt purchased to play the latest games or sync with Microsoft or Apple services. Its a Samsung product running a Google operating system, meaning that its meant to work with Google services. That said, it works wonderfully for Google Drive (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.). This item is used almost exclusively to do lesson planning, grading, research, and other tasks that a teacher would do. For that, its perfect. The only real issues weve had entail poor web design and a lack of websites switching to HTML5 instead of Flash. All in all, if youre wanting the performance of a Google Pixelbook and similar functionality then you wont be disappointed. If you want to get a loved one a computer that will really allow them to use the Internet without too much worry about viruses, then youre making a good purchase. If youre intending to get a laptop that can run Android apps without too much of a "herky jerky" experience, then youre making a good purchase. If youre wanting a computer that can run Photoshop, render 4K videos, or anything like that, then youre better off with other products.

Unless youre comparing this to a thousand dollar Pixelbook, you wont be disappointed with this Chromebook. Solid aluminum case, very lightweight, very beautiful, and responsive and precise touchscreen in my opinion, usb-C charging and ports, everything about it screams high quality build. Absolutely blows away cheaper Chromebooks for half the price. Extremely satisfied with it.

I was looking for a replacement for my Samsung tablet & in search for a 2 in 1 since I wanted a keyboard option. I use this for home use so having the "best" screen, etc like a surface or iPad wasnt a need for me. This item works great. Only drawback is the keyboard isnt backlit. other then that the screen is very responsive & the overall speed of the device is good.

I was doing my research before making my purchase. it was down to the Asus302 or the Samsung Plus. Samsung won because: 1. I had to have the pen to assist in Navigating 2. the add-ons where perfect to compliment my job 3. the Imagery is crystal clear 4. and every gadget I own is predominantly Samsung.........so major bias!!!!!

Ive been in the market for a cheap laptop for work for a while. I have a hefty gaming PC at home but I wanted something completely separate and portable for non-gaming needs like using the internet and word processing. Additionally Ive been trying to read more and sometimes this leads to me using the Kindle app on my phone. I was drawn to the Chromebook Plus (V2) because of the attempts to make it more like a tablet and utilize Android apps. Overall the product works exactly as described. The screen is good, though the default settings make the things like the app shelf, window borders, and pointer size a little too large in comparison to the parts of the screen in use. This is variable once you poke around the settings, though, and I have no complaints. The keyboard is fantastic and responsive. The touchscreen is pretty good, though its not quite on par with the perfection that is an iPad touch screen. Sometimes I miss when I try to click on things with my finger or perhaps it doesnt register at all. That happens so infrequently that its still entirely usable. The pen is also nice, though Ive only used it so far to doodle in the Google Keep notes app as it was not a main selling point for me. The battery life is about on par with what is advertised; I used it lightly from 7:30-2:30 yesterday, for example, and it only got to about 50%. The foldability for tent and tablet mode is a little bit awkward considering the size and the fact that the keyboard is always attached, but it works. It just makes me prefer it as a laptop more than a tablet most of the time. The performance is acceptable considering the hardware. With my other machine having a much more powerful processor and more RAM, I actually do notice a bit of delay in navigation online and when using multiple apps. With that said, its not bad at all, and the comparison is actually rather unfair. My main complaint is really only the quality of the touchpad for using the cursor. It works well, but its a little bit choppy and doesnt respond to light and subtle movements when trying to be precise. Again, this might be unfair because the only recent laptops Ive used have been MacBooks and those touchpads are incredibly smooth, but its still worth pointing out. Overall Im highly satisfied with my purchase. The problems Ive described really arent even problems but rather little quirks that Ive already gotten used to. It works for everything youd want a Chromebook to work for and it does it well.

Ive used Chromebooks for years as my everyday laptop. This 2nd generation Plus with an M3 satisfies all my normal needs and wants. I use multiple windows/tabs and this machine handles that without a problem. I pushed it to about 30 open tabs running multiple videos and audio before it bogged down. The display is beautiful at all angles. The keyboard travel feels l great and only lacks backlight. The track pad and touchscreen are flawless. Though I considered the pen a gimmick I have found it useful for some situations. Google has solved some of the problems Android apps had on Intel. The UI for switching between Chrome & Android apps has vastly improved, making a Chromebook more useful and productive. The pen is great for the Android photo editing apps and the Chrome app Polar. The 2in1 form works well. The hinges seem built to last, but I would say the Samsung is a bit too heavy to use as a tablet for more than 10 minutes. Google has improved the UI to the point where Chrome works well as a tablet. But, if you want a tablet first there are better options like the HP or Google Slate. This is an excellent laptop with only a few compromises. The plastic bottom creeks a bit, the only indication this is not a solid all metal body. I paid around $500 and that is an amazing value for a laptop that performs this well.

This thing is great. battery lasts me a full day without the need to recharge. pretty good for light work and media consumption. I was able to push it to the limit of processing power a few times (Core M3 version) but thats only with linux software. running smoothly with 16 tabs open. reached 23 tabs one time and it didnt seem like it was struggling at all. Keyboard is decent, trackpad is great. pen was useful with slight photo editing. For the price (449.99$ on black Friday), a great machine for web browsing, youtube and light work.
