This laptop is fantastic -- lightweight, slim, good battery life, and very high performing. Im an electrical engineering student and have used it for simulations and coding and its performed well. It can also handle the 20+ Chrome tabs I occasionally open. I got it to replace an Inspiron I lost in a home fire and its so much faster and less bulky. However, its been seriously buggy since I got it. I had a recurring issue with the trackpad -- one finger touches responded like two finger touches, or clicking the trackpad actually clicked about an inch to the right of the pointer on the screen. I updated the Smart Gesture drivers and this issue has been resolved thus far. Right now Im dealing with a second bug -- the display will randomly dim to below the lowest brightness (the screen appears dark but is actually barely visible), and resolves randomly a few moments later. The brightness keys and the display settings on the laptop have not helped. Right now, Im forced to restart the laptop every time I have a display bug, which is quite frequently, so Im lucky if I can do a few hours without one. As a college student, you can imagine this is inconvenient. However, the system still performs well so if youre willing to do some debugging or live with an occasionally unusable piece of hardware, its perfect!

As an older person going back to college, a laptop was essential. My old HP was okay, but a little slow, and was definitely aging out at 7 years old. An adventurous kitty who managed to step in pancake syrup and then leap onto the keyboard put the final nail in the HP. I have had the VivoBook for a week, and love it! It has more than enough memory to store anything I need for class. The display is great. Setting up was a breeze, as audio instructs you on what to do to get everything set up. The keys feel comfortable, with good spacing. A silicone keyboard protector protects from sticky substances. (I ordered separately, and it fits perfectly while looking amazing. The computer is lightweight. It is fast. Typing is a dream, especially with the lighted keyboard that has 3 levels of lighting as well as the capacity to shut off. My fingerprint is scanned instead of typing in a password. I cannot find a negative about this computer. I highly recommend it for students. The price is reasonable, and it is easy to see why so many computer sites rate this VivoBook highly. The fact that the computer is attractive is a bonus. I have the icicle gold, and it simply looks classy. the surfaces are sturdy, and textured so as not to show fingerprints. I love it, but will update this review in a few months just to let you know how it is holding up. I have great expectations.

The laptop looks great. Love the aluminum skin. Very lightweight, low profile. Battery life is average. Screen is beautiful for the <$800 market. On die graphics are not robust. They will do great at browsing and general office work, and old games. For general browsing, I never get tearing. Liquid smooth. The track pad leaves something to be desired. If you rest your wrist on the corner of the laptop, the track pad cant decipher every movement. Frustrating if you want a laptop in your lap. Terrible performance out of the HDMI port for an auxiliary 4K screen. This laptop is only used for software dev and internet. If you used it for anything more than that, or if it were your primary source of computing, I highly recommend to go with an I7 and discrete card. This laptop is basically a $500 Acer with keyboard back lighting, thin bezel, small footprint and aluminum skin. I suppose thats enough to add ~ $200 worth of value, yeah? Although this laptop is fine, I would not purchase again. Id look into the < $1200 market such as Acer or HP.

Really nice laptop. Fast and quiet. Slim and light! Comfortable keyboard with nice back light feature. Windows 10 was abit buggy at first but is working okay now. Removed some of the bloatware and the anti virus software that came with this machine and installed what I prefer. All is working quite well. The 256GB SSD M.2 is fast but the storage size may limit you depending on your application. There is only one slot for this. There is also an open area for an additional HDD but you will need an adapter with ribbon cable (NIMITZ 2.5inch HDD/SSD Hard Drive Cable Connector for ASUS VivoBook S14/S15 S430U S530U) if you want to add a HDD. Im pursuing that option and will add to the review when I get more info. Overall we dig this laptop! I have now added a Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD. I used a couple small pieces of rigid foam along the top edge to hold and wedge the drive. I also placed a piece of softer foam on top of the drive itself to wedge it when closing the case back up. You could also add a piece of double sided tape on the bottom to secure. It doesnt have much, if any wiggle room. I initialized (MBR) and partitioned the drive and all is working great.

I was so excited, and loved this computer. It looked awesome, had great quality picture, and a nice keyboard. However after less than a week of use, the screen would flicker while watching anything. The headphone jack also didnt register that the headphones had been unplugged, and therefore did not make any sound when playing anything. A computer should not have these faults after less than a week of use. I sent it back.

Im a writer and sometimes writing is better with a beautiful material on my hands. Thats what Ive got with this model. I wanted a gorgeous design, Apple-ish, and the feeling of writing on my Asus Vivobook makes me write even more. Notice that I researched for dozens of models for sure. This was the best match, and not because of its more fashion colors -- I picked the more conventional tone, golden pearl-ish -- but because of details that really proved me right so far. About that, I love the design -- VERY elegant. Keys are good to type. If you install any app to reduce blue screen, it makes even more beautiful to look at the screen. Not to mention that boarders are thin and the laptop when closed looks like a 14" screen one. When i work out of a wall socket, battery longs for at least 4 hours -- usually latest Firefox browser opened with three to five windows, plus LibreOffice, plus Notepad, plus Deezer. It has run an entire Netflix movie without getting high temperatures or low battery. The adapter is small, almost the size of a traditional mobile phone. That impressed me as well. So far, in love with this product. I bought this to last ten years, lets see what happens. Final note: I hate Windows 10 and Ill never be pleased to purchase a OS that forces me to see adds. So the first thing I provided after putting my hands on my Asus Vivobook and register on Windows stuff was to install a second partition for the newest Linux Mint version (Tessa 19.1). It was very easy. It takes less than twenty seconds to reboot. You should try Linux too. Im not a geek or something. Just love freedom. Congratulations to Asus. I hope you grow business in Brazil.

I put this laptop through its paces these last couple weeks, writing papers for finals, doing some light gaming, and even recording and mixing music on it. It hasnt slowed down for anything, and has more than met my expectations as far as power when it comes to CPU heavy task. The Keyboard feels nice and responsive, and have good spacing as well. Overall everything about this laptop as been great... EXCEPT... It has been a pain to try and add an additional HDD to this unit. The Boot Drive is nice and fast, but super small, and will fill up very soon. I wanted to add another 2.5 inch, 1TB HDD or SSD, but I ran into a few snags. First off there is no included SATA cable, so I had to buy that separately. I opened up the laptop, only to find an empty space where one would mount an additional HDD, but no screws holes or any other mechanism to actually fastening it down! This means that that the laptop is very much neutered at the level of storage capacity, unless you want to replace the M.2 boot drive, which would be much more time consuming than just adding another drive. Really disappointed, because if it werent for this whole problem I would be giving this thing a 5 star review. If anyone finds a fix for this, I would really appreciate it.

It has extra space to add ssd but it DOESNT have the connector so it is just an empty space for nothing, so i called Amazon and they send me a new one, and it has the same missing connector so i returned both of them. look the attached pictures that is what it looks like.

I bought this for my wife because she was starting her own business and needed something better than the 7 year old laptop she had been lugging around. I wanted something light, with a 10-touch since shes an accountant and had good performance that can last her a little bit. This laptop has impressed me. Its quite gorgeous in person, the pictures dont do it justice. It performs really well and battery seems to last pretty average for its size. In her office, she has it hooked up to a 43" monitor and it outputs 4k just fine and looks crisp. The keyboard is very soft touch and nice to type on and the trackpad has all the advanced features of a newer trackpad, like gestures and such. Its very light but very sturdy. The aluminum body makes it feel really durable as opposed to all the plastics everyone uses these days.

Im not a gamer but I do work long hours on my computer. I wanted something that was fast, I could multi-task easily, had a SSD and backlit keyboard, and wouldnt get hot after a few hours. This computer is perfect for me. I was skeptical about the Ergolift hinge making a difference, but it really does! I no longer have wrist pain after typing for hours (which I did on my last three computers) and it never gets hot. I love that there are three brightness settings for the backlit keypad! Movies and TV shows look great on it. And its quite pretty. Overall, I have no complaints.
