This is my first impression, will update as I get more time with it....... It just arrived 5 days early and it doesnt disappoint (thank you Amazon). The first thing that struck me was the high quality of both packaging and build. And Its very light in the hand for its screen size. The touch pad is on the right of the keyboard and doubles as the numeric pad. It feels narrow and awkward initially but becomes second nature after an hour or so (im right handed). But to be honest, whoever buys a 17" gaming laptop will definitely be using a mouse with it. I live in a dusty environment that plagued my old ROG G73JH but thankfully this laptop comes with 2 fans equipped with anti-dust technology. Under load they are audible in a quite room but once the game sound kicks in you wont notice them. The large screen, GPU and G-sync do drain battery life but thankfully Asus added a feature to disable all that at the touch of a button. (noticed many reviewers fail to mention that G-sync drains more battery life when comparing this laptop to a non-G-sync laptop like the MSI GS75 for example). will update tomorrow with gpu-z and 3dmark scores/screen shots

My Zephyrus GX701 system came from Mobile Advance with a 1 TB M.2 NVMe SSD with 16 GB RAM. RTX2080 MaxQ with 144hz of sweet G-Sync. Arrived on time as stated by the 2day shipping guaranteed. Unit is packaged by Asus with WINDOWS 10 PRO and its external 1080p webcam in box – Micro-USB Display – 17+” of Smooth 144hz refresh rate. Back lid made of aluminum, really thin plastic bezels with a 1” chin filled with NVIDIA’s stickers on the left. FINGERPRINT MAGNET Cooling vs Typing for GAMERS – I personally prefer the front keyboard layout rather than the traditional laptop ergonomics, as the purpose of the machine is extreme gaming with the able to quickly TRANSPORT. The perforated top was warm while gaming but did its job in keeping things cool. Asus aura RGB keyboard looks wonderful, although the software is lacking in customization and compatibility with other RGB devices. Chassis RGB lights can be optionally turned off as well. Keyboard feels good for typing, yet again – extreme gaming, I use both usb 3.0 interfaces on the right with another keyboard. TrackNum pad (FINGERPRINT MAGNET too) took a short time for me to get acquainted with using it to navigate Windows Pro. Noise – The Zephyrus uses the CPU fan mainly, while doing little tasks. Making the Zephyrus sounds and looks like any other Zen design ASUS. However, the two GPU fans kicks in when a game loads up and this thing comes alive. In comparison, this Zephyrus is much quieter than “classical” gaming laptops of early 2017. Interface – Lacking Thunderbolt and RJ45 port. At least there are two u.s.b gen-1 and one u.s.b gen-2. Speakers – There laptop speaker. Battery – Power brick is 19.5v barrel plug. 3.2 A . Supports USB PD. Disabling the Geforce and using the intel graphics, I could use the Zephyrus to watch YOUTUBE for a bit over 3 hours. However, with GeForce enabled the battery life from a full charge was less than 45 mins of G-SYNC, surfing the web. GAMING –On this 17” (1920 X 1080) METRO EXODUS played butter smooth with all settings maxed out, including the dreaded FPS killer DLSS and RTX. ANTHEM ( work in progress) runs uninterrupted maxed out graphics settings too, for now.

Install Flash Player I hope this product is one of the best product across all the ASUS gaming laptops. However, I meet the exact same problem as my old ASUS GX501, when you turn the volume above 35%, the left speaker will be very noisy such as a broken sound which I have already uploaded in the video. I fixed this issue with my GX501 by changing the whole keyboard module but I can not imagine that a laptop cost about $3500 also have this problem. I hope ASUS could make sure all the product do not have such problem. Cause my friend also bought the same model and he did not have the same problem with me and I have heard from the BBS that these customers bought the GX701 still had such problem and we could find the videos on the youtube to hear the broken sound of the left speaker.

If you add more memory to this laptop (16GB module or higher), memory will run in single channel mode. This may impact gaming frame rates in certain titles. Overall Im really happy with this laptop so far, the RTX 2080 MQ is the 90W version and closer to desktop performance vs other RTX 2080 MQ designs out there.

The day I received this beast of a machine was probably the best of my life. This was the first steps into great graphics, speedy response times, and ultimate gaming heaven for me when dealing with laptops. Personally, Ive built my own custom rigs and had full blown setups with 3 monitors having high refresh rates, latest and greatest in graphics, and all the bang for your buck. HOWEVER! I joined the military and had to get rid of it all but I was in the market for something powerful but portable. After many hours of careful consideration from credible sources and great videos (Shoutout to LTT for the best review), I came across this beauty! Now, Ive had a day to get used to the machine and set it up just the way I like it and without a shadow of doubt, this thing is as close to a full blown tower setup as youll get. The smooth monitor, best in graphics for laptops, easy gliding keyboard, and software that help enhance the over all experience when using this beauty. Anybody who is looking into buying this and is unsure, trust me when I say that its well worth the money and will not let you down. Thank you for this great laptop!

So.... Lets start by it did arrive quick and amazon killed it on that. The box packaging etc is nice and thick. Pc arrived, I made sure to read all the instructions first, Charged the laptop for 8 hours before using it. Started it up, ran through the whole setup of windows etc etc. Mind you, it was at a full 100% charge when doing this, within 30 minutes of using the windows setup and all while having it plugged into the wall the whole time. It was now at 10% battery life. I made sure the plug was in good etc and boom it ends up dead. I let it charge another several hours, launch one game and within 15 minutes the laptop turns off from being out of power. Again all while being plugged in etc. I have the battery settings tweaked so the screen is literally at 50% or less brightness. I have aura turned off on the keyboard. I have updated the battery drivers... I ended up finding out the adapter is literally only 180w... Why Asus would only think that would suffice enough for a 2070 and all this laptop is packed with is beyond confusing. What I ended up finding out on forums is if you buy on eBay a alienware charger (300w) you wont have the issue with the battery discharging. Seems kinda silly for me to go buy another charger adapter cause this was a under thought on asuss part. Not sure if Im going to keep this laptop or return it at this point. I cant game with it, I can barely use it for browsing without it turning off. Disappointed as this laptop is extremely nice on the outside.

Great laptop! Very fast and looks fantastic. Man, what a beast. However, it appears the Display and G-SYNC options are missing even though this supports G-SYNC. There is even an nVidia G-SYNC sticker on the lower-left corner of the screen. Any ideas as to why this is happening? I have tried new and old drivers from the ASUS website as well as the nVidia site. UPDATE: I have figured it out. I needed to go into "Armoury Crate" (Install this if you havent already), "Device Configuration" section and enable "GPU Mode". Restart your GX701 and youre good to go. See last Picture.

Hello world, First things to mention about this laptop are its specs, specifically my specs for the laptop I chose: 17.3" 144HZ 3ms G-Sync monitor Core I7 9750H Hexacore processor @ 2.60GHz 16GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM Samsung 1TB NVMe for storage Nvidia RTX 2070 8GBs of GDDR6 3 x USB ports 2 x Thunderbolt 1 x Headphone jack 1 x HDMI port Likes: 1)Mobility - In my job I move around more than your average Joe. Gaming without my tower around is a bummer. This laptop doesnt make me miss my big gaming tower. 2)Performance - This laptop has some pretty serious hardware built in. You will not feel that it is lacking to its competitors or be disappointed in a system built this well. I played some Overwatch for a bit and I didnt hear the fans spool up or burn my fingertips from the thermal temperature of the CPU. 3)Aesthetics - In my opinion its a good looking piece of technology. The keyboard and mouse pad have been moved closer to the user of the laptop allowing your fingers to not feel like you are typing on fire. The laptop lifts up when you open the lid for more cooling capabilities. I also hate thick bezels and this laptop has pretty thin bezels. 4)Camera - I actually think its a pretty good idea to keep the camera separate from the laptop, it allows for a high quality camera and audio. I believe it records in 1080p. I tested the camera out with my wife over Facebook video chat and has pretty good quality for video and sound. 5)Keyboard - I actually like the keyboard as it feels solid, good typing performance, and good enough feedback in the keys to let you feel that you are typing. 6)Construction - In my opinion this laptop feels very well built. It doesnt feel like its going to break if I look at it wrong. 7)Screen - After playing Overwatch for a bit I was blown away by this beautiful screen. Dislikes(More or less just minor issues that doesnt really bother me for my situation) 1) Battery - The battery is at best ok. I dont think I could ever recommend playing serious games off the charger. With the amount of hardware built into this laptop, its going to need to stay attached to an outlet. For web browsing/YouTube it could last a comfortable 2 - 3 hours. Overall: In my opinion this is the best laptop for performance per dollar. I dont really believe you need to get the 2080 RTX unless you just have to have the absolute best. The performance gain of getting the 2080 RTX over the 2070 is negligible. I would recommend this laptop for any gamer that just has to have exceptional performance wherever they are.

I run hard Cuda workloads, so I need a fast machine with an NVIDIA GPU. Pop-OS linux installed with zero drama on this machine (I saved the Windows image in case I need it). I also own a Lenovo P72 and a Clevo-Sager 9750, and this machine SMOKES them on Geekbench4 (22k versus 18K and 20K). Its also much prettier, lighter, and all around better. Simply wonderful!

Ive had this laptop for some time now and Ive tested it with different games. So far this ASUS gaming laptop eats everything at ultra settings that Ive thrown at it! - The screen is really incredible and the bezels are so small that it just looks like one whole screen! - The keyboard is weird and unusual - but seriously, I actually prefer this over the conventional keyboard now. It is super easy to get used to and works very well! - it is super fast and powerful, eating everything I throw in its way in terms of software and games! - The design is incredible and very, very sturdy. Very beautiful! - It doesnt weigh much and I cant believe they managed to pack so much power into this given its low weight and thin frame! Some complained about a missing integrated webcam, but seriously, who evens use their webcam on their laptop nowadays? The one that you can plug in that comes with the laptop works great! The only downside is that the fans can get very loud during gaming, and that the battery life is somewhat poor even during normal work - but thats to be expected. I considered every other brand before getting this one - and I do no regret it! 5/5!!
