I have returned laptops with decent gpus because either the fan noise is too loud to take to class or the 4k display effects performance when scaled down to 1080p. I finally settled w/ my flex 5 14 / 940mx, but I wanted something that I could edit video on for the next four years, and a decent screen. This base line version of the blade 15 dropped at the perfect time for me. I wish that they wouldnt have made the razer brand stick out in bright green on this laptop but other than that, I think the downgraded version is a great value. Especially with the news about RTX dropping framerates, I think that the 1060 is a decently future-proof card. It gets 144hz on Fortnite at around 70c easily which is all that matters to me game wise. Once I unplug the computer and put it in battery saving mode, the fans never turn on which is pretty remarkable for the sleekness x power x price combo of the machine. They messed up the keyboard by putting the up arrow where the shift key is, and the keys have a bit too much wiggle room for my taste, and Id honestly rather have a 256GB SSD than the HDD because external drives are cheap and you dont have to hear the disc spinning in a quiet place. Though, the noise on the HDD is definitely not as bad as an ROG laptop that I purchased from amazon a while ago. Im a little worried about how the black chassis will look if dented, but the build quality seems really sturdy and well thought out. Thats it pretty much.. If this is $200 under budget for you I might go with the ROG zepherus thing w/ the bottom that opens for air. Is on sale on amazon right now. But I dont think that this is a computer where a bunch of people will be unhappy about any super important aspect of it. ** buy a 24 inch 144hz monitor for when you’re home and hook it up with the Mini DisplayPort - DisplayPort cord. Gets you a desktop style set up at home and honestly do you need more than 60fps when out & about?

Ill keep this short but please read if you are buying this. This laptop is absolutely amazing! Very sleek design and great performance overall. The only annoying thing was that the 1TB drive that came with it was 5400RPM. Not the worst thing in the world, but being a 5400 makes gaming a little sluggish. I ended up buying a 1tb SSD to replace it and it really brought the system to life. I really recommend this laptop if you are interested!

If you are like me who is just not happy with the lower tier laptops that are made of cheap plastic, terrible trackpads, weird design choices (such as speakers facing down instead of at you), and having to deal with issues like the trackpad not working while WSAD while in games (change your trackpad settings to "Most Sensitive" by the way to fix this on laptops yourself) and the Razer Blade looks attractive to you, dont hesitate if you can afford it Id get it. I regret waiting as long as I did to finally make the purchase! It just works out of the box with no changes needed to fix quirky issues in games, it is literately everything I wished the Macbook Pro was! For people who are interested in the average CPU frequency when under load with game mode on it runs at 3.9GHZ, I know to some people out there this is really important since some laptops run at around 3.2GHZ which can make a huge difference in certain workloads. The GPU also stays around 1600mhz and when you disconnect the power cord the GPU is favored over the CPU frequency (This is a god send because your FPS dont suddenly drop to like 8fps when you disconnect the power cord).

Seriously, this is the best laptop i ever had but it has some things i really dont like about it. I will start with the cons first... CONS. 1. The keyboard feels really cool but at the same time it feels like it is going to start to fail at 1 year from now, keys feel fragile. 2. A TRUE TRUE fingerprint magnet, if you grab it, youll see black marks on the aluminum case, they are a lil hard to erase with fiber. 3. At first, i noticed a lil laggy mouse, like it stops for about a sec, i dont know why. 4. Battery does not last more than 6 hours, i did not play any game, i was writing emails, facebook, youtube etc. 5. HDD a lil bit slow. PROS. 1. Really cool design, i love this kind of laptops. 2. Really sharp screen, i loved it 3. Really thin bezels, loved it too UPDATE Been using it for already 5 days, i had some issues like when i open the laptop screen, sometimes it makes sounds like it was stuck, another issue when i close the screen, it will in sleep mode but if i open it, screen wont turn on, keyboard is on and laptop, but not the screen, i had to turn it off and on again holding the power button few secs, i guess is a windows system problem but i dont like it, i know no laptop is perfect but im getting dissapointed, i like this product btw

Finger prints are no worse than any other black laptop I have owned! Does not bother me one bit & I am picky! LOVE the keyboard! The click is there & perfect for me! The screen is the best I have seen! This 15 Base 256/2tb is not thick! It is still a very thin laptop! My biggest concern was updating the drives. I have an Ace hardware set of Torx drivers & all screws were tight, but came out nicely. There is LocTite on the screws, so go slow & careful! These screws are quality & the back is precision fit! My plan is to clone the 256gb SSD & install a 2tb SSD. I am a longtime Photographer & Aerial videographer & this should be perfect for me! I am coming form an MSI GT72/2QD. My concern with the GT72 has been color & would never trust it for color! The screen on this Razer 15 Base is near perfect! The brick & cords are great also! I cannot think of anything bad about this laptop! Will update later with experience & pictures. Hope this helps! Update: Added a before & after photo. 1TB EVO 860 M.2 & 2TB EVO 850. The performance is outstanding & I really do love the screen. 1 slight negative I noticed is the trackpad is a little large & sometimes if not thinking, my palm touches it a little while typing & it is very sensitive.

I bought this laptop to replace an aging four year old MacBook Pro with discreet graphics. Its an expensive machine for the hardware youre getting, but, in my opinion, worth it. Note: I am not a gamer, and will not review this machine as one. This laptop serves as more heavy-duty machine than the 13-inch Ultrabook I normally travel with, suited more to work I would normally do on a desktop. Build: Superficially, the build quality is impressive. The chassis is made entirely out of aluminum (even the back plate), and the hinge has a nice, solid feel - the screen does not wobble. This is a heavy laptop, coming in at over 4 pounds - not an ultraportable to say the least. However, its pretty svelte, so fitting it into a backpack isnt an issue. Opening up the machine, things seem intelligently laid out. This is the base model, so theres no vapor chamber cooling. Thats replaced by a standard heat pipe and fan assembly that covers the GPU and CPU. Both the PCH and the controller of the SSD are covered in a thick thermal pad that makes contact with the bottom of the machine. I dont have the data to say if this helps either component, but the PCH appears to maintain good temps under normal use (around 45C). The machine comes with two storage drives: one PCIe 256GB NVMe SSD (made by Samsung, I believe), and one 2TB 5400 RPM SATA hard drive. I replaced this drive with a 512GB SSD before I even booted the machine for the first time, so I cant speak as to the performance of that drive. But since its a 5400 RPM spinning disk, it would be quite poor. Thermals: My thermal testing was limited, just enough to assuage my fears that the hardware Razer packed into the svelte chassis might end up cooking itself. A run of Prime95 with the power settings set to default yielded maximum temperatures in the 60C range. The fans didnt sound like they were working too hard, either. A quick look at Task Manager showed the clock speed capping out at around 2.7 GHz, nowhere near the theoretical maximum of 4.1 GHz. I suspect that under different power settings, the CPU would turbo higher, the fans would run louder, and the machine would run hotter. Throughout all of this, nowhere on the machine felt uncomfortably hot to the touch. In all, I was happy with the thermal situation, given the hardware under the hood and Razers cooling solution. Battery Life: Im able to get about five hours out of it doing web browsing and listening to Spotify. Anything more intensive (photoshop, code compilation, etc) and that number goes down to about two hours. Overall performance: This is a fast machine. Applications open quickly, photo editing is a breeze, and software compiles take far less time than they used to on my older machines. I dont have benchmark numbers, but overall, I was impressed. I/O: For a modern laptop, I/O is amazing. In fact, its what made me go for this over the Dell XPS 15. You get Thunderbolt 3 (no charging support, but it couldnt come close to supplying enough power anyway), mini DisplayPort, HDMI, and more. If you dont like dongles, this machine is for you. Keyboard and trackpad: The keyboard is nice to type on, but isnt laid out particularly well. The fn key is where the ctrl key should be, and the arrow keys are oddly cramped in the lower right hand corner. This is something they need to improve in the next version of this machine. The trackpad is fantastic. Its large, accurate, and has a nice solid click. Say what you will about Apple, but their trackpads are almost perfect, in my opinion. This is the first PC Ive used that comes close to Apples. Linux support: This machine has pretty decent Linux support. I installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS alongside windows, and everything worked pretty much out of the box. You will want to install the proprietary NVIDIA drivers, but even then, you will not be able to use the HDMI port for some reason. To make the keyboard light up the way it would under Windows, youll need to install openrazer and polychromatic. Conclusion: This is a well-built machine with plenty of power. You can find plenty of machines with specs like this for less money, but they probably wont be as well built or as feature-rich. Based on a couple of weeks worth of use, I strongly recommend this machine. If you want and expect something heavier, more expensive, and also more powerful than an Ultrabook, you wont be disappointed.

Install Flash Player I choose this Razer Blade 15 Base model with GTX 1060 max-q over the Advanced model (already with the RTX video cards) because that for what I need it should be enough (research/office work, some 3D rendering needs and processing, and of course, casual gaming). Also, what made me chose this Razer over other brands is that I wanted a discrete notebook with a simple design and that dont looks like an alien spaceship like some gaming laptops around, and this model is very beautiful and very discrete (even with the green Razer logo on its lid) and very well constructed. Basically very similar to a macbook with video card, but worse screen, so be warned. It is 2mm thicker than the Advanced model but it is still very thin IMO, also basically same weight, and I like it a lot about this. I played some demanding games with it and it is capable of sustaining 60 fps with "High quality" (not Highest) video configurations at 1080p, but it will get very hot surfaces, even with the ambient temperature being bellow 20 °C, so not so comfortable to play with it in your lap. Now, regarding the screen, I have some complains. Its good, I dont mind about it being only 60Hz, and at least in this model it has little to almost none backlight bleeding, so blacks is very uniform, but the time response is kind of low. Its is noticeable in any game or 60 fps video as you will see some ghosting behind things in movement and this sucks. But as I have a gaming desktop Ill use this notebook only for casual games while traveling and etc, so I hope this will not bother me so much. If you are planning to play only in this notebook and with its screen, be warned. When I turned it on for the first time I got an issue with the screen (video in this review). It was flashing randomly every some minutes some horizontal bars across the entire width of the screen at any brightness level, with power cord connected or in battery. Also the screen was doing this every time I turned on or off the bluetooth or connecting anything into the USB ports. The issue kept happening even after all updates with Windows Update and reinstalling/upgrading NVidias video driver. i noticed that this behavior wasnt present while booting Windows in safe mode, so I thought it was some driver problem. When I uninstalled the Intel Video Driver the problem was solved, and it didnt returned after I reinstalled the video driver using the "Intel Driver & Support Assistance". So be warned about this issue and how to fix it. The backlit keyboard doesnt light the entire keyboard down all the way to its bottom (pictures in this review). Other thing that I didnt like about it is that for the price we pay it doesnt have a fingerprint reader or a card reader, and the webcam also doesnt have the Windows Hello. But things arent perfect... Also this should have the option to put a bigger battery instead of a 2nd storage option. Ill update this review in case of anything new comes to surface.

Ordered it with one day shipping so that i would be able to take it with me on a trip but they shipped it late and it didnt get to me till a day after the guarantee date. But they gave me a refund on it though so guess. Also got some promo codes for Black ops 4 that worked fine but the code i got for fortnite bundle has so terrible instructions. It tells you to redeem it on origin instead of Epic then at the end it says " congrats Launch steam to download game" Assume they just do a lot of copy and pasting and have no idea how to activate code either. Other than that the laptop is pretty nice. Nice and thin, easy to take around. Just the top of the lid is a MAJOR fingerprint magnet
