Install Flash Player Bad HDD, loud sound coming from the HDD and running at 100% off the bat. RPM should be 5200 so it shouldn’t run at such capacity and its randomly blacking out while using it. Blacks out and then takes me to my log in. I work on IT and am confident its the HDD

Finally have a good Laptop. Ive bought in the past laptops by..... HP (hap to send back to HP for repairs and it wasnt any better). Sony (Problems may have been with Windows 8). But very slow. Asus.....The worst. This was an upper-range laptop. I got tired of trying to fix it. Easily the most expensive laptop I ever bought. It came with a solid state drive and still took over 10 minutes to boot. Tired restoring to default. Didnt perform any better. Not using anymore. Will gut for parts. ACER Not bad. Bought last year. Another mid-range Laptop. Has been pretty reliable since purchased last year. Now Im not using the laptops for anything other than surfing the net and an occasional movie. So there isnt anything demanding being performed on these machines. This Dell is 1) Pretty fast on startup with an SSD installed. Way faster than the upper end ASUS The display isnt the best. A little dark. But for what Im using it foe it suffices. 2) Ive tried several over the years and have nothing but problems out of the box. 3) Easy setup out of the box. 4) Decent battery life. What I dont like about this Laptop and most other newer ones is trying to upgrade RAM or the Hard drive. Cant the manufacturers have a little panel on the bottom for easy access? Instead you got to take out a lot of little screws on the bottom (and possibly a few more inside) and remove the whole bottom cover of the laptop. Does it cost that much more to have access panels for the RAM and Hard Drive? Everyone seems to do it on the newer models. Is it so that people purchase the laptop with every option they envision on upgrading too? Its one of my pet Peeves. All-in-all a pretty good mid-range laptop. If your looking for something with a little more "kick" you may have to go with a different model. Just put some access panels in the thing!

Terrible slow unit. Dell says hardware ok and can’t check software that was loaded on unit without a service plan. Even though it’s under 30 days old. I haven’t install anything extra than what came with it. Also I was told never use support assist dell application, dell says it creates issues.

This is a nice laptop but out of the box the performance is not good if using the mechanical hard drive. As soon as I upgraded to a solid-state disk (SSD), the response was very snappy and like using a different computer. Note: I bought a Crucial 240GB SSD from Amazon and used its Acronis True Image software to clone the drive that came with the laptop to the new SSD. You will also need a USB to SATA cable to transfer the OS from the old drive to the new SSD. If had to do again, would probably buy directly from Dell even though more expensive and less memory but could get Windows 10 Pro and full warranty. Pros: Large screen with HD resolution 8th generation Intel processor Low price Backlit keyboard which is helpful in low light areas Dell support and access to latest BIOS and drivers on their site Has area for two SSDs (different form factors though) Extra RAM is nice Having a 10 key, DVD drive, and SD card reader a plus Quiet operation Cons: Not easy to take apart case to upgrade drive to SSD. See YouTube for videos on how to do. Was bought about 5 months before I ordered so only about 7 months left on warranty when I received. Had trouble with on-board Ethernet port sending/receiving data faster than 100 Mbps, used USB adapter to get higher speeds. Things to consider: Came with Windows 10 Home, I spent extra money with Microsoft to upgrade to Pro so I use Bitlocker encryption, Sandbox feature, Hyper-V, Active directory support.

Arrived in 2 days and set up was very easy and only took about 45 minutes to get everything up and running, I did not run into the long windows 10 update process that many have reported. A definite attempt at replicating the Macbook Pro here as far as design and features but Im sure the build quality is not as solid & the display is no where near the resolution and color of the Retina display on my Macbook pro from 8 years ago. Far as reliability only time will tell...Still for the price its very nice so far.

Touchscreen takes a bit of getting used to after years of the mouse but seems to be a wonderful addition. The big problem (and this is probably common to all new computers) is the amount of BLOATWARE on-board. Some of it is virtually impossible to delete. Then there is the usual "BING" catastrophe. Its everywhere. One must be careful. Also, I really dont enjoy the lack of a printed manual. I guess thats "progress". But as these gripes are prevalent in all computers, I must admit that Dell makes a fine machine. The backlit keys are certainly interesting. by the way, the $15.00 case is quite nice. Well see how it holds up. To summarize: the Dell is a fine laptop with a cool keyboard, great memory and very useful features. A few years ago, this would have been a $2000.00 computer. For around $500.00, it is a virtual bargain.

I purchased this thinking it was new. When it arrived, it was obviously pre-owned... it was missing documentation, there was no protective covering on anything, and did not include a power supply. I thought I was getting a great new computer at a great price. It would have been nice if the description had mentioned it was refurbished. I returned it and bought something else.

Im not very tech savvy but from using this laptop for a couple months I really love it. only gave 4 stars because the fingerprint recognition seems to have stopped working.
