This keyboard shouldnt be sold. I dont know how Dell has managed to keep posting this on Amazon. I purchased this here on Amazon on April 1 and by May 20 it was done. Return window closed there is nothing I can do now. The keyboard disconnects, spam, keys, lags input or simply doesnt write. I work in the IT field so its not I havent tried. This keyboard design is simply defective. Just so you have an idea the following are the reviews from other people on DELLs website. Stops working after a month or two I bought SEVERAL of these keyboards for my entire office, and the majority of my coworkers have returned them to me after only a month or two complaining that it either freezes (wont type for several seconds, then types half of what you typed) or the keys "stick" (not physically stick, but type the same letter "ffffffffffffffffffffffff" a bunch after hitting the button just once). Weve tried replacing the batteries, thinking that might be the problem, but that doesnt help anything. Ive been sticking them in the corner and ordering other models/brands to replace them. Been considering returning them all to Dell and asking for our money back! Duration of product use Over 6 months How do you use your product? Everyday computing ✘ No, I do not recommend this product. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Design Fault We have purchased multiple KM636 combos for our staff and they have all been returned to our dept. with the same complaint. e key not working with a delayed lag. Very weak material and it stops working soon. The range is horrible and it will most likely only give you a headache. Dell has way better wireless keyboards to offer. Id stay away from this one. I work in IT industry for over ten years so I’ve used many keyboards mouse. I’ve used expensive mechanical keyboards, overpriced apple magic keyboard and other. But this $20 keyboard and mouse combination is awesome. See pictures for more. Pros Super easy to setup. One usb adaptor for both keyboard and mouse. 3 batteries in included with product. Elegant look. Protruding keys. Cons Material is good but can be better. But keep in mind you’re paying very little for both keyboard and mouse. So its worth. See pictures and decide yourself

Im really torn over this. On the one hand, it feels nicely designed, the keys feel great, and coming from my prior (10 year old) keyboard I no longer sound like Im pounding on the desk when Im on a speaker-phone call. However, the mouse is really "skippy"---its almost as if theres interference, it phases in and out of working perfectly. Sometimes the mouse pointer just skips around and other times its flawless. The keyboard randomly loses keystrokes. Ill go back over a paragraph Ive written and there will be 30 missing keystrokes, one or two here, one there, requiring me to proof-read absolutely everything Ive written. Distance to the receiver is a non-issue: its line of sight and approximately 18 inches from both; I should certainly hope 18 inches is not too significant a distance. The mouse also does not have any rubberized padding on the underside--as a result, it makes a scraping sound on the desk during movement. My prior mouse (Microsoft Basic Optical) was whisper silent during movement. Im torn on this, as I REALLY like the look and feel of this combo. But it just "misses" the mark and it feels like Im spending a lot more time rereading what Ive written. Im wondering if I should have spent more on a Bluetooth unit rather than this proprietary wireless one. UPDATED 06/07/18: Ive tried everything to resolve the keyboard skipping issue, moving the receiver, replacing all batteries with good fresh ones, etc). The USB dongle is now 12" away from the keyboard and it still loses about 1% of the keystrokes. My productivity has been dramatically reduced with this keyboard/mouse combo as everything I type, I have to go back nd edit (theres one--I tyed "and" and it came out "nd", and "typed" not "tyed"---see, this is my new life with this keyboard). I love Dell, I love the FEEL of this keyboard, but Ive given up on it and Im replacing it with a different brand.

Great product, especially for the price. I have mostly good things to say; so, I will start with the worst part--which is that the mouse clicking noise a little loud. Other than that, the wireless works without delay or difficulty from around my office, although I havent tested it for distance. Keys are thinner than your average keyboard, built in and flat on top to somewhat resemble the mac-style boards although they feel like a normal keyboard with the springiness you would expect. That being said, the keys are are easy to press and especially quiet for such a cheap keyboard. Your noise level will be somewhere in between tapping and clicking (unfortunately, its the backspace key thats the loudest, haha), To add context onto my review, I am used to mac keyboards and wanted something wireless for my work PC that would look a little cleaner. My work PC had a pretty basic dell keyboard that wasnt wireless and had the trapezoidal keys. It worked fine, but I figured for the price, why not try this one? I am satisfied. I am a little bit particular when it comes to keyboard typing but im not extremely sensitive. So, those who want a mid-level keyboard that isnt a complete piece of junk will find this to be quite nice but, obviously, has no special features and is the same size and structure as any average old keyboard.

Soooo.....Im not in love with this combo but I wanted to love it so badly that I intentionally overlooked its short comings at first. My situation was this, I had a desktop setup and dual monitors, which I hijacked one of those monitors to use with my work laptop when docked. I have the whole get up, the docking station and all. Unfortunately, my desk is very limited on real-estate so I started looking for an alternative to using only one keyboard and mouse. I looked into a KVM switch of sorts, but when I took into account I could use one peripheral to control up to 3 devices, all without cables, I was sold. Out of the box I was very excited how things were running. My configuration was such that I selected 1 Bluetooth channel to control my work laptop, another Bluetooth channel to control my iPad typing, and the proprietary wireless supplied by the micro dongle for my desktop (it does not have Bluetooth support). Everything appeared to be working great! After months of usage I am now sad to say that I wish I hadnt purchased this combo. Its no so much that the feel of the keyboard or mouse is unappealing, in fact, the keyboard is pretty tight. If only it had back-lit keys that would be a huge plus. No, it boils down to how the internal Bluetooth radios take FOR. EV. ER. to initialize. I thought it wouldve been more seamless, I envisioned me typing on my desktop, flipping the switch over to respond to a work email, flipping over to reply to an instant message, then flipping back to continue where I left off on the PC. Yeah....that was swiftly shot down when reality hit. In truth, I can flip back and forth, but going to any of the Bluetooth devices can often take up to 10 seconds to initialize and begin working. The mouse is much slower than the keyboard but its the mouse that I use most often. Not only is the mouse slow to switch, there have been a number of times it completely drops the connection and I have to cycle it between channels for it to initiate the handshake and connection again. Ive also had to re-pair the Bluetooth on my laptop 3 times now as it just up and fails to see it. Lastly, the mouse does this really weird thing where when I click the button that switches it between connections, it quickly returns to the #1 connection (the physical dongle). I could sit and hit it multiple times and it just immediately goes back to #1. FINALLY after like 20 clicks it starts to cycle through the Bluetooth channels. I dont know if its that the Bluetooth radio in the mouse is not initialized or something but its frustrating. In the end, the setup works but, man is it a pain in the you-know-what to use among multiple devices at times. The 3 stars are for the fact that it does provide a solution to control multiple devices with one keyboard and mouse, but the execution/technology is hindered probably just due to the very nature of Bluetooth and its inherent slowness. I continue to use the set but keeping my eyes peeled for something with better performance. I cant recommend this combo simply due to the frustrations of the Bluetooth, because if all you want is wireless there are a ton out there that perform better than this.

**UPDATED** 10/10/17 The period key is super touchy and does 90% of the time does not confer information to the computer that I want to type a period. The only time it works is if I distinctively press the key perpendicularly. *** This is one of the few options out there for slimline, simplistic keyboards that ARENT mac. Its great. Beautiful aesthetic and excellent connectivity options. That being said, the keys are a little more difficult to press than the typical laptop chiclet keyboard. You get used to it if you only use this keyboard, but if you switch consistently, youll probably notice. I have to put so much force into my typing that my monitor shakes a little if Im typing too close to its base. Maybe my table isnt secure enough, maybe its the keyboard. The mouse has no sides, so that also takes some getting used to. With most mice, you grab the sides with your thumb and your pinky, but you kind of have to learn to just let those fingers float or grip the sides more precisely.

I am in love with this keyboard and mouse. The key feedback is great. The chiclet design makes it super simple to type quietly and efficiently. Less error when typing compared to standard keys. The only small issue is that the keyboard is not incline adjustable. Its a fixed incline although the angle is very low and I havent experienced any pain using it like that even after being used to a flat keyboard. The mouse is also great. Fits in the palm nicely and is shaped so you dont get hand cramps always trying to hold on to the mouse. Ive found that with other big name combos similar to this. Also its very, very difficult to find a keyboard that is wireless and has the inidicator lights for number lock, caps lock and scroll lock. What gives?! But this keyboard has that and its great. Keyboard is smart to turn off the indicator lights to preserve battery when they keyboard is on but a key hasnt been pressed in a while. Wakes up quickly as soon as you start typing; no lag or missed entries. Mouse is the same, goes to sleep when not using and comes back on when you move it. Fantastic feature that both of the devices turn off when the computer source shuts down. Dont be worried if the indicator lights dont turn on when you turn on the keyboard; they keyboard has to be connected to a computer that is on for them to illuminate. Great feature in case you leave the keyboard switched on and shove it a backpack or bag. I love this keyboard combo and would definitely buy it again. Nicely done Dell and Logitech. Bought 2! One for work and one for home! Update 4/23/16 I continue to love this keyboard endlessly! I am going to buy a third one for my father for Fathers Day! Please never discontinue this keyboard combo Dell!

So I got a new job where I would be working with multiple devices (a contract issued Dell and a site issued mac and iPad) so I wanted a single keyboard and mouse to keep my desk uncluttered. I wanted to like this thing. The build quality looks very nice but it is a little lightweight for my tastes. I like how it types and how it feels but I picked up on negatives right out of the box. - The three function-ness of it is very specific. #1 NEEDS to be paired to a Dell Link dongle. #2 and #3 NEED to be bluetooth. I bought this as an Amazon Warehouse Deal and it arrived without some critical parts. Both the keyboard and dongle were not present in the box (dont cry for me Argentina, Amazon realized they sold me a bad deal and gave it to me for free). But the missing dongle meant that function #1 was unusable without me tracking down a dongle. Now, Dell used to use Logitechs Unifying hardware in their stuff but I guess they got tired of paying the licensing or whatever. So, they switched to their own "Dell Link" but unfortunately because it is new and not being used on much hardware the dongles are rare and expensive so it became not worth it to track down one. Maybe this will change with time but the idea that such a small, easily misplace-able part would be hard to replace was a big negative for me. Plus, I had already lost functionality of 1 device. The Dell provided by the company I work for has bad bluetooth but since I just use it as a time-clock and to officially file reports (that can be generated in google docs and copied over) I decided to skip pairing with it and focus on just using my site provided Mac (it added an extra step to my workflow but it was minor). However, the mac sometimes had a hard time being woken up by key-presses. I dont know if this was a keyboard issue, or a bluetooth issue. But, it was an issue non the less. The iPad I was using would be spotty connectivity wise with this keyboard - it might have been the fact that it was a warehouse deal, I dont know - but I would type full words and even sentences sometimes and the iPad just wouldnt get them. But, when I paired an old portable bluetooth keyboard it worked the first time every time. The last issue came after about a week and a half of use. I had put a fresh pair of Duracell Pros in it after I got it and it burned right through them. Now, I am sure that it was a problem with my particular keyboard, but that was the last straw. I put it in a cabinet and went back to Logitech by purchasing a K780. Does all the things this Dell promised only better. And, I was able to use old Logitech dongles I had accumulated during my tenure working on repairing PCs.

Ive owned a KM636 v1 for about 1.5 years. Its been working pretty well, some occasional brief lag (1-2 seconds) after inactivity, but nothing significant. I needed a keyboard for another computer, and I figured the v2 would be as good or better. Big mistake. After one day of use, I want to smash it to pieces. Frequent repeated key strokes (hit the key cleanly once, get the letter 8 times), frequent significant lag (several seconds) while actively typing. Unusable. Sounds like an issue with the wireless signal, but the receiver is plugged into my monitor, clear line of sight to the keyboard, 6 inches away. So Id put my money on the wireless protocol itself being garbage -- v1 uses a Logitech unifying receiver, v2 uses Dells proprietary universal receiver.

Update: I actually went to the dell website and downloaded the drivers for this keyboard and now it works perfectly! I think the issues was the software that I needed to install. I had read the reviews on this prior to buying but I didnt think it could be that bad. But it is really the worse wireless keyboard I have had. It takes forever for it to type letters and then misses them if you type to quickly. I wanted it because I found that dell keyboard letters do not wear off as like the Logitech. Looks like I will be trying out another keyboard considering how lg it took me to type this review to correct all the mistakes....
