I bought this when my 8 year old PC bit the dust. I wanted a CD rom, because I use some software that is still loaded via CD. The CD Rom on this does not work. It doesnt spin, it doesnt load, it isnt recognized in the file directory like a USB drive is. Its just a decoration on the front of a pretty silver box. That being said, I did not load that software first. First I transferred all my old files from my hard drive to the new PC. So, now I have this all set up with my files (word docs, pictures, everything I need) but cant load the software I want and need. Is it worth it to return it? Probably not. Is it a bummer the CD rom doesnt work? ABSOLTELY! My bad for not trying it first. PS -- Yes, I am aware they make external CD Rom drives. I just dont want to buy one since I chose this model specifically because it had one.

Received yesterday, and machine seems good so far overall but the wireless keyboard leaves something to be desired. The keyboard does not have a Function Lock key and in Windows 10 it is locked to "On." If you need to use the F keys for an application as I do (Bloomberg) this is a major inconvenience, as you have to depress the Fn key each time to get the F keys to work as intended. Amazon support told me to turn the computer off and on and when that didnt work to contact HP (thanks a lot), who then told me it required a BIOS change and to call their HP advanced support team which would help me for a charge. Found several things online about how to do it but apparently there is no option in the BIOS in certain HP models to turn off Action keys the way there is in their laptops, and with the other manufacturers. Thankfully I have a Bloomberg keyboard I can use instead but if you use the F keys regularly for a program, or even want a number lock key on the keyboard (have to use the virtual keyboard to toggle that) then you need to either try your own keyboard or choose a different computer. The amount of time spent on this due to HPs lack of support (without charging for it), and the silliness of removing functionality like the Num lock keys and having no way to change Fn key lock, is disappointing for what seems like a decent desktop otherwise. Also, the only thing included is a quick start guide, given the unique composition of the keyboard would have expected at least a key for that. Bottom line, since I liked that it came with a wireless keyboard and mouse, wouldve chosen another option.

Have not had any issues and the computer preforms well in many benchmarks. Only negative for some - 3D graphics fail on some tests, so gamers might need a better video card. I use it for office work, and it fills my needs perfectly.

Im not going to do a techie review....just my feelings about my purchase. I was replacing an 8 year old HP laptop that had been a faithful workhorse but was nearing its end. I wanted a desktop with speed and that was quieter than the laptop. This HP Pavilion has satisfied on both counts. I have tweaked it by replacing the HD with an SSD and that IMHO is a worthwhile investment - speeding the boot up cycle quite a bit. So far I am very satisfied with this computer and would recommend it for home office and entertainment use.

Powerful, elegant computer in a compact case. Best value out there. It came with wireless keyboard and mouse, which I didn’t expect.

This machine has the RAM I wanted, the card reader, the DVD, wireless, everything. So far it has worked flawlessly. I play a lot of games but they are not too intensive so the graphics seem fine. If needed I will update but all seems great so far.

This HP Pavilion is a nice computer but lacks the ability to dual-boot. I felt the motherboard was oversimplified. I returned the computer and decided to order individual components and build a more techy-friendly system at a significant lower price.
