HP Pavilion Desktop Computer, Intel Core i5-7400, 8GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive, Windows 10 (570-p020, Black)

I really like this PC so far. The keyboard and mouse are low end - wired flat keyboard much like a 15" laptops and a full size wired mouse. They work good for what they are and you may be satisfied with them. I dont think theres much software they are giving you free with this system - 30 day McAfee already loaded (most everyone has free AV app via their internet provider but I guess this does make sure you dont have a gap in protection when you first get going). Some HP apps but nothing of interest to me. MS Office is not included - if you want office apps then they have links to buy and install office 2016 apps direct from MS. Bluetooth works great and my Sony XB30 speaker linked right up with it . Xbox One controller pairs up with it also. It has one HDMI video port and one VGA video port so you can hook up 2 monitors at the same time if one is VGA and one is HDMI. The wireless AC internet works good so I have not tried the wired network connection. Sitting with my i3 on one side and this i7 on the other side of me, this PC is quieter. As for upgrading, you are limited with this system. You can add another internal HDD or SSD as a second internal drive. There is one PCIE-16 slot so you can add a video card as long as its no more than about 6.8 inches long. You cant put a longer video card in because there is a connector on the motherboard that blocks it and you will not want to be without what is connected there - all front ports. Its a motherboard design issue so even changing the case wouldnt help. You will need to buy a new power supply to go with any new video card but that shouldnt be a problem. This uses a pretty standard looking power supply about 5" x 5.5" x 3". So Ive had this thing for a couple of months now and I can add some more info. It is really nice that its an i7 desktop cpu and has wifi and bluetooth. For me, it does a good job with 3d slicing software, some cad, photoshop, etc. as-is and I am getting a lot of use out of it. Ok, the nice ends. It is really bad in that every time the hard disk gets busy - internet browser loading, opening an app, saving a large file, unknown processes sending data or maybe antivirus scanning - whatever it is - if the HDD is busy, your mouse doesnt work. This is with both the wired mouse and a wireless. I seems that the USB ports are subject to not taking input when the HDD is busy. Totally ridiculous that the main input device does not function properly. Also - I kept getting some HDD errors so I contacted tech support and they were very responsive but... they had me do a system restore and lose all of my data - emails, resumes, photos, music - all gone. Fortunately I had copies on my laptop but I lost a couple of days of installing, copying and configuring this thing.The front usb, sd, etc are all oriented vertical instead of horizontal and that makes them much harder to use because I am always sticking them in the wrong way. Also, only 1 front usb port. The DVD drive works fine but its vertical too - and flimsy. Because of the price I paid I am still not regretful of buying this thing but due to the stupid design decisions and the issue with the mouse I am lowering from 5 stars to 3.

I have purchased HP products in the past and have not had any problems, however this computer was a problem. Called tech support, and spent 3 hours on the phone only to be told they wanted to do a factory reset. Tech said he would call back in 3 hours. Never called back. I recalled them in am and was told that they wanted to send me to "advanced" tech help and there would be a charge. Told them no, there would not be as the computer was still under waranty. Put me on hold and came back and said that the super agreed and he would send me there, and the call was dropped, or I was hung up on, not sure which. I finally fixed it myself. The computer isnt bad, but if you need help just know that you might not get it. ever since I called for help, I have been getting harrasing calls from GEEK SQUAD

The DVD drive is pathetic. I dont see how they could have made it cheaper or more fragile. But Im sure they will prove me wrong with the next generation of Pavilions. Fortunately I have an external DVD writer because the internal one will die the first time I sneeze on it.

In trying to price it competitively compared to a custom-build, HP has delivered a rather poor quality build. Purchased this in Nov 2017, and had since replaced the HDD with an SSD, and all was well. Since a month, the unit is throwing out annoying noise like it were a 5 year old tower. The noise seems to be emanating from the power supply or its fan, that I need to confirm and address. Otherwise, it is just okay for the price (paid 660 during Thanksgiving discounts for an i7-7700-12GBDDR4-1TBHDD), not cheap not pricey - if compared to a custom-build. Given Ryzen and Coffee Lake have come out with better performance/$, there is no reason to buy this in 2019.

The computer worked few weeks and then the USB ports stopped working. Send it for repairs on March 4 and it is still not back. In my opinion never buy a computer or an electronic item on Amazon as their after sales service sucks. Absolutely no customer care, no status update or clear idea of when the desktop will come back. I wish I had gone to the local store and got it so I have someone to speak to and get status on what is happening. 8 weeks for a computer repair is completely unacceptable.

Computer constantly turns off. HP customer service will not resolve problem w/o turning it over to HP Smart Friend Services for a fee. Computer is only 6 weeks old

Surprisingly slow performance. Not a good value. I may sell it, if I cant optimize it. Cant even handle opening .jpg in windows photo

I am puzzled by this computer. My old one also an HP I had no problems with. This I cannot understand why they did not integrate Windows Photo Gallery for this computer. I tried to download Photo Gallery but Windows 10 does not support it. Why?????? I still have pictures that I need to scan into my computer. Now I am going to have to buy another computer with Photo Gallery on just so I can do my pictures. Now dont get me wrong I am not bashing this new computer. I think I was better off keeping my old computer. Unless Im missing something here I say to Microsoft please integrate the old programs into the next generation computers and please quit fixing things that aint broke. I know this will be the last computer I upgrade to. So if you like your old computer and its programs then stay where you are because there is no reason to upgrade.

Purchased from Best sales, Inc.. does not work. will not boot up and serial no and product number are unverifiable by HP during a support request. Its going back for a refund.

No hard drive or RAM at all in this machine. So of course it does not work at all. And another odd thing, the specs on the box arent even the same as what I ordered. The computer I ordered was supposed to have 12 Gb of RAM and a 1 TB hard drive. The box the "computer" came in claimed to have 16 Gb of RAM and a 2 TB hard drive. It turned out it had NO RAM and NO Hard Drive. I really needed this computer to be up and running by this weekend. Now I have to send it back. I will order from a different seller.
