I ordered the I7 with 16 meg Ram and the 2TB Hard Drive about a week and a half ago. As expected (Prime), it arrived on time. Computer was packed in a box with no wrapping on the PC itself. Closed cell foam corners were used to protect it. I wasnt really concerned about the packing because there isnt anything that wasnt able to withstand some jostling about during shipping. PC was in excellent shape. The problem was that it wasnt the PC I ordered! It was an I5 computer. I called IT supply guy immediately. The manager I spoke with assured me it was the right computer!? As I have over forty years of experience in computers and electronics I assured him it was not the right computer. I opened the case to examine it. It only had a 1TB hard drive, the one that cam e with the I5. Manager told me they mustve installed the wrong drive, but insisted it was the right PC. So...I had to boot up the PC so I could prove that it wasnt the right one. After talking to a second manager they agreed to pay to ship the one I received and send me the correct one. I had no idea just how long this process would ultimately take. But, I wanted the PC and capitulated. The whole replacement process took just under a week! I received the correct PC in the exact same packing method. It too was unharmed. The PC came with a wired keyboard, mouse and WIFI dongle. I didnt need any of these, but its nice that it came with them. I booted the PC and initialized Windows with no problems. PC is 100% functional. If youre reading this and contemplating buying a refurbished consider the following: --Its a refurb. This means that in order for it to be a certified refurb it goes through more testing than what a new PC is subjected to. --You may run into some quirky issues. These computers are assembled by techs at a bench versus an assembly line. If you decide to deal with these issues you are compensated by paying a lot less for a PC. I have a PC that is powerful enough to run all the Media software I bought it for. But I also have a PC that I can do add-ons and upgrades to and create an even more powerful machine at far less than what I would pay for new. If you are looking for a PC that has everything installed and ready to go then maybe this type of purchase isnt for you. However, if youre looking to purchase a computer that has a nice large case (important for upgrading), a powerful motherboard, great RAM and Hard Drive space at a huge savings in cost...then this is the way to go!

UPDATED REVIEW 3-stars The replacement came, and it is exactly as it should be. The PC works well, and we would purchase again. 4-stars for the actual product (this time) 2-stars for the lack of quality control on the original order So, that equals 3 stars total for this review. ____________________________________________________________ ORIGINAL REVIEW 1-star When we received the item and opened it up, it looked great inside. The inside of the box looked like a brand new computer. There was not a spec of dust inside. The wiring assembly is pretty dirty. There was no thought of air-flow when the connections were made. The problem is that once we looked at the back of the machine, we noticed that half of the ports were out of alignment. After inspection on the outside, and the motherboard inside the box, it appears that the motherboard is actually twisted. It boggles my mind how a motherboard could get twisted/bent. We sent for a replacement. We hope we can actually get the replacement to work as expected. I will update the review, as the story unfolds. For now, 1 star, since the machine is not functional.

Up front confession first..Ive been building my own PCs for about 20 years or so. That said, I bought this because I didnt want to start from scratch and this offered some good parts for the price. Amazon sells this for $100 less than does a major online tech store. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. I bought the add-on 3-year warrantee since it was only $10.50. It has room and plugs for 3 more hard drives. I added three SSDs to the one drive already there. I didnt feel the need to add a vid card since the onboard Intel chip seems to be doing great and this is not a gaming machine. This would do great as a stand-alone machine. I just like to tinker. The one downside, as others have noted, is the proprietary power supply. But thats what the extra warrantee is for.

I was searching for the best-of technology from a few years ago to save on cost. The plan is to use this for video editing. I compared the CPU to the PassMark ratings, it was rated very high, checked the amount of memory, etc. It also has a 2T HD drive which is old (2010), but it clearly works OK. I installed a 1T SSD drive as the main drive and now the machine blazes. In terms of condition and so forth, the outside case was just fine, internally, it was clean -- no doubt part of the refurb process... So, in my opinion, given the new SSD drive and the condition of the rest of the machine, I expect to get several years of service from this machine.. One other thing, it was made by HP for the business environment, as such, the case, the internals and so forth are sturdier than some of the stuff they are making now... I highly recommend this company.

Several weeks ago I purchased the tower - it arrived on time, no problem there. However, when we set it up, it sounded like a percolator and the speaker worked off and on.I wrote a review and right away I got an email from the company. The next day or so, I got a phone call about returning the computer - the lady I spoke to was very helpful. I sent it back and got a second one a few days later. Well, we had a hard time getting this one up and going. Part of the problem is that there really arent any written instructions. We had to come up with a code [where was this supposed to be?] Come to find out, it was on a sticker on the computer - you had to scratch off the coating so you could see the code, like you would on a lottery ticket. But how were we to know this? And the wired mouse was broken - I mean, the plastic was literally broken in two. You could see this while it was still in the wrapping. And while this one doesnt isnt as loud as the previous tower, it is still somewhat noisy. Maybe its because Im used to a laptop, which was totally silent, but this tower seems like its complaining. Im hoping this will be worth the money and effort. The folks at the company were very pleasant and eager to help, so thats great. But Im not really happy with getting a broken mouse and all of the time and effort it took to get this second computer up and going, not to mention the percolating sound. -- Also, I dont know what happened to my earlier review. It seems to have disappeared.

It is so good, after I bought one, I bought another one. The PC is fast and has plenty room for upgrade. I bought a DP-to-HDMI adapter ($6.99 at Amazon) and Connected it to my HDMI TV. I replaced one 4gb ram with an 8gb one taken from a dead PC. Now I have 20gb memory. I added 2 hard drives (2 tb and 3 tb, respectively). Now I have 7 tb storage. Very satisfied with the result.

Excellent price for refurb, system delivered on time and pretty much as described. Instead of i7-4770, it came with the i7-4790, instead of a 2TB it came with a 3TB and then the DVD-ROM was a RW. The downside, the DVD would power up but wasnt recognized by the system. No response from vendor support, but easily fixed with a cable swap. The 3TB was MBR formatted so only saw about 740MB. Needed to convert to GPT to get access to whole 3TB. Add 500GB SSD, clone OS over, so low risk of losing anything in the repartioning.

The tower arrived with improper packing. When you moved the box you could feel it hitting the sides of the box. And sure enough, when I started it up I got the HP 5 beep problem (Im sure everyone knows what that is :-) ). No display, DOA. Turns out I just had to remove then put back in the 4 memory cards but who knew? I got it going and activated Windows but the first Windows update put the machine into reboot purgatory. Ugh! I decided to purchase a new Windows license and I installed it from scratch. Finally the PC is working well. But should it be so hard? No way.

My Wife and I just bought this Computer and were a little nervous to order the computer through amazon but seeing as how cheap it was we had to try it out. We got the package 2 days later and when I opened the box i noticed that they took there time to carefully package the computer really well on the inside not only with packing Styrofoam but also a good amount of bubble wrap around the computer itself making sure that the tape on the bubble wrap did not get on the case of the tower. I set up the computer immediately and and everything was as described. We love this computer we are impressed by the speed of the computer. We would definitely recommend that if you are in the market for a nice refurbished computer that you would should go with this one. Plenty of room for Upgrades down the road.

Item just came in today. They shipped the next business day as promised. The box was well packaged, peanuts and bubble wrap. Inspection outside revealed a broken clip, and fan casing was a little bent. It was thoroughly clean inside and out. Booted it up to give it a test. It was quiet and ran perfectly smooth. Checked system specs; had everything as advertised. Bonus, they even threw in a USB wireless adapter. I knew it didnt have one when I bought it, so I had already purchased one. But hey, its a plus. I can always use it as backup or give it away. Im a little disappointed that it came with a standard DVD-rom instead of a rewritable, but I knew it when I got it and the price for the specs cant be beat. Overall, Im a very satisfied customer. I would buy again. Will update if there is a problem. UPDATE March 22, 2019 ------------ Its been a couple of days since I set up the computer and all seemed well - until yesterday. I have now noticed a noticeably loud "perculating" sound coming from the hard drive. I can confirm it is the hard drive, because I opened it up. The fans are amazingly quiet. Unfortunately, it seems that now when the hard drive is being accessed (particularly written to), there is a constant noise - which is odd, because it did not do it the first day after installing many programs. It appears that the hard drive is a Hitachi 7200rpm from 2010. Note that it is not broken (no clanking or clicking noises), but it is rather loud. Ive had many hard drives - including Hitachi - but this is the noisiest Ive ever heard. Ive read a couple of customers have this noise, so it appears to be random. Wont be a problem if you plan to upgrade your hard drive. Also, this one did not come with recovery disks or a recovery partition, which means restoration will be impossible unless you create your own backup means. Lowering this review to 4 stars because of these recent findings, but otherwise it is still a good deal.
