Ive just had this a week and have spent most of the time transferring stuff from my really old other machine. FYI my configuration is 500GB SSD + 2TB HDD, 16 GB ram (configured as 2x8GB). So far its been a pleasure to own. Some reviews of the 8930 have complained about noise but my machine has been extremely quiet. A few things to note about the guts. Th SSD occupied one of the drive bays, which I think could have been handled in a different manner. However, the machine has 3 drive bays total so I still had a free bay and popped into it an additional 2TB HDD, no screws required. Also one of the 4 alleged PCI expansion slots was pretty well occupied by the fan of the graphics card, but it was easy to install a USB 3.0 expansion card in one of the other slots (as if there werent already plenty of USB 3.0 ports). NOTE that at least one other reviewer of an 8930 has complained about internal power cables being too short to be useful. This was also the case with my machine and had to purchase an inexpensive internal power cord extension to install the aforementioned HDD and PCIe card (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012BPLW08/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). In addition to the internal stuff the machine is handling 2 scanners and a printer with no problems. It boots up crazy fast.

Ordered this Dell XPS tower to replace dying Win 7 computer. This Tower had what I needed and wanted for my desktop. First Tower arrived, and was NOT as advertised: Had NO DVD burner, had only single SATA HD, and NO SSD hard drive, and stock graphics card. Spent 2 hours online chat with Amazon to convince them I did NOT receive what I had ordered and paid for. Got return authorization, and they promised a 2 day delivery of the CORRECT tower. Got replacement Tower in 2 days...was exactly the SAME WRONG Tower! Another 1 1/2 hours on phone this time, return authorization given, but they would only refund purchase price....it was up to ME to find another satisfactorily built Tower to replace my dying Win 7 desk top. MOST unsatisfactory!

I purchased the Dell for home usage. The main reason I chose this Dell was the SSD coupled with the 2 TB hard drive for storage. It ran great for 9 months, then the issues started. Ive replaced the hard drive twice (linear read failure). Now the SSD is going bad and the boot speed has gone from a couple of seconds to 5 minutes. Dell support tells me that thus PC never shipped with a SSD and wouldnt cover it. It was sold on Amazon as "new". Apparently someone changed something between manufacturing and sale. Fraudulent advertising? It would seem so.

What an upgrade the XPS 8930 has been from my slow, 5-yr-old Dell Inspiron! The key feature is the 512GB SSD drive, proven in tests to be at least twice as fast as standard hard drives. Windows and all programs are placed on the solid state C: drive, then you can put your heavy data files such as photos & videos on the 2TB SATA hard drive (E:). The machine is so quiet that you have to hold your ear up to it to hear any running noise.

Everybody recommended me Dell XPS very highly! Maybe it was 8920, maybe 8930,and I chose dell! The computer is fancy, powerful, great for book editing, video montages, games, but loses the internet for a second time. For a first time - tech support helped me instantly; The second time Ive spend an hour figuring the problem with tech support over the phone, but as a result gave me a direction how to fix, and it did work out

The OS was defective. A Dell technician worked for many hours attempting to correct the problem, but could not make it work. We are very pleased at the promptness shown by Amazon in allowing a prompt return of the product and very pleased that the credit was EXCEPTIONALY PROMPT.
