I bought this for my wife after her Windows 10 computer crashed. She spends most of her time on Facebook, G-mail, Photos and Google searches. All the anti-virus and other software associated with Windows slowed everything down and didnt seem necessary, so we decided to try a Chromebook. So far, so good. The computer is much faster than the one she used with Windows and the display is very good. We solved the printing problem, but handling photos is still a challenge. We can see them and print one at a time, but so far cant modify or print more than one picture on a page. Google saves her passwords and the system boots up almost immediately. If you spend most of your time on the things mentioned above, this may be worth a try. It is an All-in-One. The screen is large and the unit is very light. I would give it more stars, but waiting to see if my first Acer holds up and if we can figure out how to do more without Windows. Some of the latter is a learning curve for us, not a problem with the computer.

Great computer for web-based work. Would be appropriate for kids, seniors/older adults, and anyone whos focused on the web in general. Screen is crisp and beautiful, camera is strong, feels speedy.

The Acer Chromebase 24 runs the Chrome OS operating system. This a Google-customized version of Linux that is wonderfully easy to use and rock-solid stable. Setup is simple: Plug in the power cord, the the keyboard, and the mouse, then login to your Google account, and voila! Youre done! In case youre unfamiliar with Chrome OS, please note that you cannot run Windows software on this device. The Chrome web browser is the interface through which all applications must run, which means you will be limited to using applications that are available in the Google Web Store. Furthermore, these applications tend to be rather stripped-down when it comes to features; they will work well enough for simple, straightforward tasks, but complex tasks are better performed on a Windows 10 computer. For example, the word processors for Chrome OS simply cannot compete with Microsoft Word, though Zoho Writer is getting close. On the other hand, if your word processing projects are simple, you will probably love Google Docs. I personally prefer the simplicity of Chrome OS and the apps that run on it. This simplicity makes it an ideal choice for children and elderly folks who want or need to use a computer but dont feel like spending hours upon hours learning how to do things. As for other popular apps, Spotify works great. So does Pandora. Amazon Video, too, and of course, Google Play. Netflix runs great, too, and of course, Facebook. All in all, if youre looking for a computer that is easy to set up, easy to use, and ideal for surfing the Web, watching movies, listening to music, chatting on Facebook, and doing homework for school, you really cant beat this computer. Oh, and by the way, it includes 100 GB of Google Drive storage FREE for two years! It also includes five years of support from Google, that is, updates to the operating system and firmware. This all-in-one computer has a narrow profile like a flat-screen TV. I can be used on a desk or even hung on a wall if you prefer. The one downside is that the base does not allow you to raise or to lower the screen; it can only be tilted forward and backward. If you wear bifocals, you will find yourself tipping your head back to read the top of the screen, which can cause neck strain and pain after a few hours of use. Thats why I gave it four stars instead of five. Ill leave it up to other reviewers to address the details hardware performance, but I will say this much: It is VERY fast, and the screen is bright and clear. Overall, I am very pleased with the Acer Chromebase 24 and would definitely recommend it.

I had a Windows 7 desktop computer and was notified that in January 2020 Microsoft would not support a Windows 7 computer. Although I knew it was old (ancient by computer standards) I really never liked Windows 10. I have used it before and just seems like too many bugs that they cant get out of the system. I decided to buy a Google Chrome desktop computer. I was (and still am) concerned because Ive only had dealings with Window computers, not Apple or any other kind, only Windows. I knew this was going to be a BIG learning curve that I really wasnt sure if I was up to doing at this stage of my life. We bought it, opened it plugged 3 plugs in including the mouse and keyboard. It worked immediately. When people say this sucker is fast, believe them. Im happy with that and that it updates itself constantly, so theres no downtime for the computer to update, then you have to turn it back on and some of the updates might not have been able to be successfully installed and you have to go back and try to figure out why. I was able to hook my wireless printer that I used with my old computer to my new Chrome desktop computer, FINALLY. That took almost 24 hrs. for me, but please remember Im not really tech savvy. I like that it already had all my information in it since I used Google as my home page on my last computer so I didnt have to reconfigure anything which was great. The thing Im not happy about is Windows has a lot of games and I bought a lot of games and played them all the time on my Windows 7 computer but they wont work on Chrome at all, which I dont like. The games Chrome has are either for a 3 yr old that are learning their colors or for 13 yr olds that want to do harm to the world in general, which doesnt sit well with me. Hence, no games for me. Im still learning about it and everyday I find good and bad things about it. I just hope to be able to feel comfortable with it more sooner than later.

I bought this for my mom who wanted an easy to use tool for surfing the net. She has been very pleased and has not had any trouble adapting to using Google Docs etc. instead of Microsoft Word. However, setting up the printer was a nightmare. I was very careful to purchase a printer that would work with Google print, but it still required me to use my Windows laptop to complete the set up process. There was not way to do that from the Chromebase. It took me about 2.5 hours to figure that. Once I did the set up on my laptop, everything works great. Just beware if the Chromebase is your only computer, you may need help setting up a wireless printer. The issue is really with the printer and not the Chromebase, but something to consider before you buy.

Very fast w/o windows overhead and updates quick and seamless. Always had problems with Windows 10 updates changing settings and deleting files when update worked properly. When it didnt hours with paid Microsoft support to fix. All included apps work well and those downloaded are also working properly. This a great alternative to Windows machines for most people.

I finally got tired of windows based machines over the year and I decided to get a chromebook a while ago. I was so satisfied with the notebook .. I decided to get rid of my windows 10 24 inch all in one and ordered a chrome base 24. it took me 10 minutes to get on line and my desktop is now an exact copy of what I have on my chromebook notebook. I am really amazed at how well the chrome OS works. Summary: It is flawless! :) I gave it four stars because I it does not seem to recognize my external portable hard drive.

This is a great computer if you spend a lot of time on the internet. It does not have a slot for cds so could not install my version of office, which includes Access database. This computer does not support Access and the new printer I bought is not yet supported, though it can be connected through the cloud. It does have its own word processing and a sheets program as well as a slides program that are decent and easy to use. It is very very easy to connect and get going, screen is big and can be adjusted to meet your needs. Everything is internet based but you can set some of the programs to be available to work offline. Makes it easy to work off a chrome tablet of laptop as what you have here will show on your other devices

I was researching for a new family computer that allows the functionality and control that I needed with children of different ages. Look no further than this machine! It has all the power needed as well as ability to control different accounts through Google FamilyLink. Aesthetically it looks amazing with just the screen and no bulky tower. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great I was researching for a new family computer that allows the functionality and control that I needed with children of different ages. I would have given it 5 stars but I could not get it to open any programs I use in my work. I googled and opened every setting trying to understand why it would not open these programs. Ive had 2 other iMacs and had no problems with them. Maybe it was some way the previous owner/seller had it set.....but I could not figure it out. And so I gave it to a friend for her school kids.
