I am currently dual booting, and am running both Debian 9 and Windows 10. All the drivers worked fine with Debian. If you are looking for Windows 10 drivers, just download DriverMax and let it find the proper drivers for you. The internet didn’t work when I installed Windows 7 or 8. However, the internet did work out of the box when I installed Windows 10. I love this computer, and its very easy to fit 6 hard drives. You just turn on this computer, press F12, and you are ready to select which hard drives to boot in order, and you also get the menus to boot from a USB or DVD to install an operating system. This computer is perfect for developing, virtual machines, and running your server.

-Basically silent, good for a basic home server, low power draw. -Has an NVMe slot, but has limitations and was disabled in later BIOS versions. -SATA port labeling is annoying. -Has no externally accessible bays, even though they could have made it that way. -Space for many more internal drives, but no simple way to add them. - Tons of USB 3.0 ports. - No VGA or DVI, just DP and HDMI.

Install the server back in early April 2019. Had to reboot the server end of May. Server failed to boot up. BIOS LED blink pattern indicates DRAM did not pass Power On Self Test. Tried to get support from Dell website. Dell indicates that the product is not under warranty. I was surprised by this. I thought the product was new. I went ahead and replaced the DRAM with a new module. Server still does not power up. Must be a motherboard issue. Now Im stuck with a dead server and a spare DRAM module.

I received this about a week ago and added a SSD and 4TB HDD to run as a plex server. You can add 1 additional hard drive fairly easy but to use the other 2 bays you have to remove the power supply which seems like a strange layout. When I initially turned the server on it wouldnt stay on but after some troubleshooting I found that the RAM hadnt been installed and was just stuck in the bottom of the tower. After installing this it fired right up and stayed on. Very happy so far with this purchase.

Got the unit up and running on a spare copy of windows 10 home I had around. Set up a few shared folders for home central storage and some backups. Running Plex to stream some media around the house. All around excellent investment! Great little platform to get going.

I like the system I got. I will recommend to add more RAM and hard drive though. I installed VMware ESXi on it and running multiple OSs on it. Its running well and havent had any issues yet.

Just go ahead and buy another NIC if youre considering this machine. I had no end of problems getting the e1000e to connect at 1gpbs speed on my local network. Threw in a dual port card and boom no problems. Otherwise a great package at a decent price.

It’s a good machine for such a low price. Install windows server 2016 real easy, only concern is there’s only HDMI video out so you’ll need a converter cable

During installation, delete the DELL installed hidden partitions. They are formatted in a way that Windows Server refuses to backup. Otherwise seems like a decent piece of hardware, once you add some memory.
