Such a great watch
I had a Garmin Instinct. Beat the hell out of it for about 6 years. I didn’t need a new one but I decided to treat myself. I got the Solar Instinct 2X because I didn’t want to break the bank. It just arrived and I got it all set up. I have no doubt this thing will be just as good- no, better than the Instinct I had previously. If you’re shopping for a great watch, that can be beat up with no worry, the Garmin Instinct series is a no brainer.

Better than an Apple Watch
Bought the Instinct 2x Solar to replace my Apple Watch. Got tired of charging the Apple Watch every night- it was a pain and made tracking sleep a challenge. Also, just never really used all of the functionality of the Apple Watch with texting on the watch, etc. The Instinct 2x Solar does all the things I wanted from the Apple Watch (steps, HR, workouts, etc.) and I’ll maybe have to charge it a few times this year. It also has some amazing tracking features for outdoor activities. I live in Florida so on days I’m outside, I lose virtually no charge, due to the lux hours so get from the solar charging capability!
Solar Charging & watch band
I upgraded from the Instict 2s and really enjoy the larger watch face. I have a small wrist and was afraid it might be too big, but I am very happy with it and the ability to read all the data on the larger screen. Love all the features and ability to customize. The only issue is the solar charging and this is not a complaint, just an observation as the battery life is already great - 40 days at full charge! It does charge and in normal operating mode with reasonable outside time it was keeping the watch fully charged. On an average week I track about 13 hours of indoor and outdoor activities (walks, mtb, yoga, elliptical) and that's where the solar charging can't quite keep up, but this is understandable given the fact that it is working harder to track and collect data. At my rate of use, it will still take nearly a month to fully drain the battery which is awesome! I did change out the watch band for a velcro/nylon one though, because I felt the stiffness of the original band didn't allow the watch to sit tightly/flat (maybe because of my small wrist?) and I wanted to make sure the sensors would always be making good contact. Overall great watch!

Couldn’t be happier with this watch. Tracks very well love the sleep stats and vo2 stats. Monthly challenges on the app are a blast but watch is tough and good looking! Very happy with the upgrade. It adds a bit of pep to my step knowing I’m tracking everything. Wanting to push and get healthier and better and this is helping with that!

Not happy
I've owned a Instinct for many years and never got a burn/rubbing mark on my wrist. About one month ago I upgraded to the Instinct 2x Solar. I took it off today and now I have a burn/rubbing mark. That never happened with my first Instinct. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong. Other than this the watch is prefect.
Flashlight orientation unusual
Watch is ok. Altimeter is useless unless you recalibrate it to a known elevation every 10 minutes, not accurate at all. The watch faces interchangeabllity is great feature. The flashlight is a great feature except it should be placed inline with your arm to show on your hand instead of perpendicular to your arm. Instead of pointing to an area you want to light up you have to reposition your arm to show whats in front of your hand. The compass is good too. Battery life is ok, lasts about 2.5 weeks with no gps use and moderate flashlight use. The charger provided only is usb c to garmin adaptor , a usb a is not an option unless you purchase one seperately. Messages and phone use must be tied to your cell phone and garmin software, not stand alone.
Probably the best instinct yet!
I’m a less is more kinda guy. But this is watch makes more so seamless, I keep finding real life use for more of its features on a regular basis. The 2x model is especially welcomed. Feels better on the wrist. Not a dainty as the previous models. From workout modes to navigation, this thing just keeps ticking. I’ve charged it once since I first got it. It’s been 2 weeks. For someone wanting a less intrusive smart watch interface but still does pretty much everything a fenix does, the instinct solar 2x is the perfect watch for you.
Minimalists Dream Watch!
I'm the type of person who wants a watch to display the most amount of information, in the most minimalistic way possible. The Garmin Solar Instinct 2X definitely does not disappoint in those two criterias, in fact, it far exceeds any standards I ever had while searching for the right smartwatch to suit my needs. While it lacks touchscreen capabilities or color, the watch is simple to operate, it shows you all the information you need, and it delivers it in a no non-sense kind of way. BONUS: It has a built in flashlight which i now use on a daily basis! If this is one of the top two smartwatches you're considering purchasing for yourself or a loved one, let this be the last review that tips the scales for you... Get this! You definitely will not be disappointed.
