We own 2 other Samsung HDTVs, and one HD monitor. Great pix quality, and no problems with any of them to date. This TV went to the basement girl-cave. The space is the size of an oversized bedroom, and this 24" size is working out well (although bigger would be better). For me, max viewing distance is about 20 feet or so. The compact size and light weight make it easy to place just about anywhere. Id advise that you place it up fairly high from the floor (or wall-mount), as the viewing angle tends to be uncomfortable otherwise. The stand is a bit flimsy, but not a deal-breaker. The TV is light and the base seems to be mounted securely to the set. I dont anticipate any breakage under normal use. Picture quality is superb. And like our other Sammys, the menu is both easy to navigate and packed with custom tweaking options. Pretty much all youll ever need. I fiddled around for about an hour, and dialed in my "perfect" settings. If youre already familiar with Samsung TVs, I dont have to tell you how crisp the video is. This one is no exception. The built-in sound is about about average for this size, maybe a bit better. Not great, but surprisingly decent. Speakers fire downward, which favors tabletop/shelf/cabinet placement. On the table, we found the volume range more than enough to fill the room. In a noisy environment, though, volume will probably be inadequate. In a bedroom, sound quality is decent and volume is more than enough. If you really want premium audio, an A/V receiver or sound bar is the ticket. A Few Minor Gripes I Can Live With: -All settings (VOL, CHANNEL, OPTIONS, etc) are available on the TV itself, so you do have a backup if the remote dies. But the jog-type control and menu scheme is kludgy and unintuitive - seperate buttons would be better. Not a big deal, just annoying. -No power-on indicator. When you power up, you see nothing but a dark screen until the set boots up. Cmon, now - how much would that add to the cost? -The remote control ergonomics are very good, but the key backlighting is way too dim to be useful. YMMV. If this size is right for you, you really cant go wrong at this price.

This arrived and was surprisingly light. It was well packed and in good condition. It took about 30 minutes to set up. Youll need a Phillips head screwdriver to attach the base, unless you want to mount it on the wall. You get a power cord, a cord wrangler, and a remote with batteries (2 x AAA). There are input ports for cable or air antenna, audio, HDMI, HDMI-DVI, AV, coaxial and USB. Only the power cord comes with the tv so if you need HDMI cables or whatever, make sure you buy them too. You can connect an external speaker but the sound from the tv is decent. The loudest setting is pretty loud and with no distortion. The picture is very clear and its easy to adjust color, contrast, sharpness and brightness. There are a number of accessibility features. The instruction manuals are nearly complete, though they do not tell you how to attach the stand -- Im a complete novice here, people! -- and they come wrapped in a roll that makes them annoying to use until you flatten them out. But otherwise I couldnt be happier. This model is a little older so it comes at a good price. I chose it because it got very good ratings from Consumer Reports. The Samsung brand has the highest reliability ratings too.

Another great TV from Samsung, I now have 3 and like them all. This one was purchased to replace a 24" Westinghouse that was particularly flawed with extremely low volume and you actually had to connect to their web site and download a code to receive over the air TV. Who ever heard of that? This TV has a great feature set, good color, and acceptable sound. The Westinghouse had to be connected to external speakers to hear anything, so I was a bit disappointed to find that the Samsung does not have an earphone jack as some reviews indicate to connect them (this model has changed and all of the connectors are on the back and the earphone jack was eliminated) and that I would need to buy an adapter. However, I found that the sound level is acceptable without external speakers, though a bit distorted at high levels. Overall, I rate this as a good buy.

This LED TV replaced an LCD TV (also a Samsung) that served us well as a kitchen TV for 14 years. Nothing wrong with the old LCD model, but it was a 19-inch and we just wanted a bigger screen. This 28-inch Samsung was the biggest we could fit between the countertop and the bottom of the cabinets. It leaves just two inches to spare, but we configured it in a corner, so thats not a problem. In fact, it actually helps that the TV fills the space so completely because it allows us to hide the stand-up mixer in the corner behind it when not in use. Four features were of paramount importance to us: 1. Sound Output: We use it in a kitchen. And you know what that means — the exhaust fan above the stove, and the whoosh of water in the sink, the whir of various other kitchen appliances. The kitchen is by far the loudest room in the house. Consequently, weve found it necessary to place multiple speakers around the kitchen to avoid the need to blare the single TV speaker. We do this using the 3.5mm headphone jack and individually powered computer speakers. The benefit of doing it this way allows us to control the volume to all speakers at once using the TV remote. By the way, I want to be sure to mention that, when I was shopping for this TV, I noted that there are a lot of contradictions in multiple reviews about whether or not this TV has a headphone jack. I can say that the 28-inch model absolutely does have a headphone jack. It also has a digital-audio output, but there is no RCA sound output. REPEAT: Yes to the headphone jack, No on the RCA output. If RCA sound outputs are important to you, this is not your TV. 2. Multiple HDMI inputs and a USB port: Yes to both. We use both Apple TV and a Roku stick with this TV. The USB port is necessary to power the Roku stick, which it does very well. BTW, these ports are located on the right side of the TV to make it easier to flat mount on a wall. We use a drop-down mount that connects to the bottom of the cabinets, so this is not an issue. 3. Lightweight: Yes! This TV weighs less than 10 pounds. As I mentioned, we use a drop-down mount that connects to the bottom of the kitchen cabinets, so we didnt want to put too much weight on it. At 10 pounds this TV is nearly half the weight of the older LCD model, which was a smaller 19-inch. Awesome. 4. Picture Quality: The TV that we replaced with this one served us well all these years, but dark images (for example, nighttime scenes) were difficult to discern. Of course, we could adjust the brightness on the old LCD, but while that helped improve dark images, it blew out white balance on the light (e.g. daytime) images. This is no longer an issue with this LED TV. The LED picture quality is everything we wanted and more. We now get a vibrant, clear picture no matter whether the images being depicted are dark or light. Although we had no use for a TV stand, this television does come with one if thats important to you. Also, the receiver is top notch. We use this in a major metropolitan area and connect it via coax to a digital antenna in the attic. The older TV would have difficulty now and then with some of the weaker-signaled channels (particularly cloudy days, for example, made it difficult to get the local CBS affiliate channel). But this LED TV hasnt had that problem at all. Not once. I will be sure to come back and update this review if it ever does exhibit trouble in that regard, but so far it gets an A+ in that regard. I really cant think of any downside. In my opinion, this TV is everything it purports to be. Of course, be sure that everything you expect is offered on this TV before purchasing it. If you want 1080 or 4K, for example, keep looking. This one is 720p.

It comes with a USB port, and it will, I guess play media from the USB, however it does not use the standard NTFS, but the outdated FAT32. I could not use my 4TB hard drive because it was NTFS. So I had to go buy a 2Tb drive and use a third party software to convert it to FAT32. Now I can load my movies, however, if I have any over 4GB, FAT32 wont write them. So now I must modify these movies. Such a hassle. Samsung, whats up? Revision: I bought the drive, loaded movies onto it, hooked it up to the Samsumg TV but guess what...didnt work. So I called Samsung. They informed me another out of date technology. The USB drive has to be 2.0. Ever try to find a 2.0 USB hard drive? They are all 3.0. But Samsung is not backward compatible with 3.0, they are just backward. Now Im out $90 for a USB hard drive I dont want or need. It would be nice if all this was somehow listed somewhere, like maybe the owners manual, which is four pages of how to plug in a HDMI cable.

I brought this to replace a smaller one that devolved screen problems. This set has a 5" bigger screen and still fits under the kitchen cabinets with room to spare. It has a great picture and so far I have not had any problems from unpacking, setup and now using it everyday. I also have a Samsung 46" 3D smart set in the living room..

Screen is as described, Samsung does not disappoint when it comes to screens. Works well with no issues and quality is very good for a 24-inch screen. Installing the base to the screen was a bit tricky and required some work because it seems like holes on the base were not perfectly aligned with holes on the button of the screen, so a little force was required to insert a screw. Other than that, the screen is great and I recommend it.

Many people are complaining about low volume. The solution is to go into - setup, audio, equalizer. All the settings will be at 50. Raise them all to 100 and satisfy yourself that it is louder. Then go back into them and set them to please yourself. I, for instance, reduced the two highest frequencies so it didnt sound so tinny.

Very easy to set up, very light, great size for a bedroom or dorm room, clear picture, good brightness, deep blacks, and decent sound for a system of this size at this price. Wonderful product.

We chose the UN28H4000 as our second Samsung TV. This unit’s size and its mounting pedestal are perfect for our bedroom. Because the TV sits on a small dresser, larger units with legs on each end would not work. The UN28H4000 was installed last week. As before, it works great AFTER it is set up. Samsung has improved the setup process, but the instruction manual still needs work. The print in the fold-out is too small. A diagram of the menu navigation tree would be helpful. Our other Samsung is seven years old. For this UN28H4000 model, I’m anticipating a lengthy and reliable operation. However, this model has several feature shortcomings, particularly disappointing if the unit is used in the bedroom. 1. CC on Mute. There is no “CC on Mute” option. On my previous TV, this option was a convenience when someone else was sleeping. I found a cumbersome workaround: to mute the sound and then activate Closed Captioning through my cable system’s Settings menu. 2. Location of power indicator light. The “power off” red indicator light is attached to the recessed underside of this model. With this pedestal-mounted TV on a dresser, the unit’s lower edge is at waist-height. I cannot see whether the TV is off without bending over. Due to back issues, this move is troublesome. As a workaround, I taped a mirror on the dresser’s surface underneath the indicator light. 3. TV wake-up alarm. This was a “must have” requirement. It was disappointing to discover that the power-on timer did not work with the TV connected only by HDMI. But, several Amazon customers have pointed out that Samsung’s timers can be configured to operate with the HDMI cable connected. Following are wake-up alarm preparation and scheduling steps for users of the Cox Advanced TV converter box. These or similar steps might work with other cable systems. Check with your cable provider. Preparation: • In the Samsung UN28H4000 “Time” menu, select the “Clock Mode” as “Manual.” Then, set the current time. • Leaving the HDMI cable connected, attach a coaxial cable from the converter’s “Cable Out” connector to the Samsung “Antenna In” connector. This coax connection does not affect the operation of the HDMI hookup. • Using the Samsung remote, select “Source.” The entries “HDMI” and “TV” should now appear onscreen. Switch to TV. If no picture appears, using the Samsung remote, change the TV channel to the one used by the cable system (usually channel 3 or 4). A picture should appear. Return to the HDMI source. Scheduling: 1. Using the cable system’s remote, set the power-on time in the cable system. 2. Using the Samsung remote, set a Samsung timer to the same time, as follows: • Select “Menu.” • In the “Time” menu, activate a timer and enter its wake-up information. • Under “Contents,” the entry might be automatically filled with a channel identifier used by the cable system. This identifier could be unfamiliar, such as “TV Air 12345-678.” • While keeping these settings, exit the Samsung TV menu. 3. When the wake-up time arrives, the picture displays in a lower resolution through the coax connection. Return to HD by changing the Samsung Source from TV back to HDMI.
