I ordered the product after my last Samsung TV was damaged during a moving incident. Shipping and handling was provided very quickly beating expectations by over a week. Upon delivery of the product, I noticed the TV wouldnt turn on unless I downloaded a smartthings app from the app store which requested all my user information from email, phone number, and address and signed me up for a smart home app?? WHY am I signing up for a smart home app just to operate a TV? Anyways, went through all that trouble after providing the same information previously requested to purchase the TV in the first place. Spent another 15 mins mounting the thing on the wall to find out the TV they sent me was a dud. Did some quick searching online for a solution, and looks like this is a very common problem with this type of Samsung TVs ("blue screen", shows a hint of backlight but otherwise no power or functioning). Call with a service representative leads to another call with an additional service agent (third party to samsung) who spends an hour having me plug in and unplug the TV. Finally have to be booked with a service appointment, but there is no availability for 2 weeks. Also received an unwelcome sales pitch on the value of purchasing a warranty package (I already had one purchased), although I dont see how a warranty package in this instance, where it is clearly a manufacturing defect, is relevant. Poor product and poor technical service.

Samsung UN55NU7100FXZA- 4K UHD HDR - PROS: The clarity and resolution of the display Sound -quality- (see problem below) is very good for a thin TV. The clarity of voices is exceptional, especially helpful for older ears. Capable of being used like a DVR to record. Plug memory into the USB you can set up the TV for timed recordings like you would with a DVR. CONS: MOTION- After installation the display of moving objects was ridiculously jerky. I had to turn off the -default setting- AUTO MOTION to correct the erratic movement. SOUND- When watching Satellite the volume will sometimes get -very low- (EG. after skipping a commercial break). If you PAUSE and then RESUME viewing the sound will return to NORMAL. The AUTO VOLUME on or off made no difference except that the LOW and NORMAL sound levels were less obvious. As this TV replaced a Samsung 48" which did not experience similar sound changes I will assume this model has a sound problem. Its a tossup on whether to return the TV due to the annoying sound problem or not. SOUND VOLUME UPDATE: After changing every sound setting available I have come up with a ‘work around’. Change the DISH Satellite Receiver Sound OUTPUT to PCM (default is Dolby). The -Satellite Receiver- will then DECODE the audio and send it to the Samsung TV. When the Satellite Receiver sound is set to Dolby Digital the Samsung TV must do the DECODING of the audio. The problem appears to be in the Dolby Digital decoding when stopping/starting the event being viewed. The -possible downside- to this is PCM provides 2 CHANNEL output while Dolby Digital provides DTS 5.1 for Surround Sound.

My first 4K television and picture quality is fine. Disappointed over a few things though. First, I dislike the UI (User Interface). Have a large collection of movies stored on a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. The TV found the DLNA server just fine, but the folder structure is not modifiable and is worse than any of my BluRay players. Takes forever to scroll though the movies. Second, even though I have a Samsung SmartThings hub, it will not connect to the TV. Its the same manufacturer. How can that be? Third, because the TV wont connect to SmartThings, I CANNOT control it via my Amazon Alexa devices. Fourth, you cant edit all of the inputs. I dont need or want my DirecTV HDRs showing up as media servers. I just want the DirecTV satellite its connected to via HDMI, my computer connected via HDMI, and my DLNA NAS server. In short, the TV is fine, but the software running on it falls well short of what I expect.

This is the most beautiful picture television weve ever owned, as a 30-something couple. Incredibly easy set-up, intuitive operation, and gorgeously clear picture. Granted, were penny-pinchers, so this was a big splurge for us, even though its far less pricey than other comparable televisions. Very happy with this purchase.

This isnt my first Samsung Smart TV, not even my first one this year. Its a Samsung Series 7, so it has a lot of features and great picture quality. I do prefer curved displays, but those are becoming less common so I settled on this flat one. It doesnt look any better or worse, just a preference. It has all the video streaming apps I needed and more. It also has a lot of smart features if you have the companion app for your smartphone, which is cool since you can mirror between devices or use the phone as a remote. Setup was also easy with said companion app. This TV is in my bedroom, so I dont watch it that often, but when I decide to watch something in bed its more than adequate. The sound is fine, but if youre planning on using it for anything more than a bedroom youll likely want a sound bar or other external speaker. My only real complaint is that it isnt that easily wall mounted. The mounts that I purchased had screws that were too short for this TV so I had to run to Home Depot up the street and search for longer ones.

Initial Impression: Man this is big! This is obviously relative, but coming from a 49” and a 60” previously this seems huge! Packaging was good. Well protected. I ripped apart the box trying to get the TV out until I realized that once you remove the nylon strap, the top of the box just slides off… Aesthetics: I’m super picky about bezels. I can’t STAND a thick bezel. You could show me a great picture with a thick bezel and I would hate the TV. With that being said, last years model was on the edge (pun intended) of how thick of a bezel I could stand. I’m happy to see they’ve decreased the bezel size in this years model. I wasn’t overly excited when I saw the pictures of the stand legs, but they turned out to be better than I thought. I would still prefer them to be on the outer edge of the TV, but I understand why Samsung decided to go with the placement since finding a TV stand to accommodate for legs any further spread out, especially with the TV size) would be a lot more difficult. Multi placement for the legs would have been nice to tackle that issue. The legs are made of some sort of ABS plastic, metal would have been preferred, but they have a nice to finish to them so I don’t mind. I think most people would be mounting a TV this big, which I think would alleviate my only real concern with the TV. Set-up/Software: Seamless. I fell in love with it from the prior model and I’m glad to see they’ve kept the key features and added on some. There is an option to set-up and integrate using Samsung Smart Things app on your phone. I didn’t do this (because I was anxious to start watching), but I do remember that last year’s model integrated and it was really convenient. All in all it was super-fast, super easy. Screens were fluid and easy to understand. As a software developer I tend to get frustrated easy when things aren’t natural, but the TV has a good UI/UX design. It has all the apps I need/use (and then some). I love having Spotify as an app, that’s the only one that stuck out to me as what usually isn’t available on other smart TV’s. Definitely a plus since I listen to music on my TV through my surround sound often and used to resort to using a ChromeCast to do so. Also having a web browser is super handy! Pulling up a facebook link or a random site to watch/read news is always a perk. My only con in this category would be the lack of ability to turn off the screen and keep audio on. Maybe I haven’t found the option yet, but I don’t think the TV supports that. If anyone knows how, PLEASE let me know. Picture: What everyone wants to know! It’s great! For the model/price point, I don’t think you can beat the picture. Compared to the similar class Vizio’s and LG’s, this is definitely a lot sharper. Compared with the Sony models I think it’s a toss-up, BUT the Sony models are generally pricier, and I don’t know if the software is on par with Samsung, especially with the smart phone integration. The blacks are darker and the whites brighter. The presets for different picture modes is pretty good and you can switch easily depending on what you watch. I find myself sticking to “Dynamic” mode the most. There is little to no glare on the screen, and I have the TV placed right next to a wall of windows with the blinds open 90% of the time. I think the “Dynamic” TV mode helps in this regard as well. No cons with the picture except it’s not OLED, but that’s obviously a different category J Other: I don’t like the remote. I know the TV is still in the entry/mid level category, but I don’t like that the remote is not sleeker and “smart.” More so I’m disappointed you cannot purchase and link a Samsung Smart remote. I think the ability to use your phone helps, but having a smart “sleek” remote would have been nice. I don’t like having to look at the remote to figure out what button I’m pressing. Once again, this is just me nit-picking. Which says how much I like everything else about the TV. There’s plenty of inputs and plenty of room to attach without using an “extension” cable for things like a Chromecast and FireStick (although you probably wouldn’t need them anyways). No RCA connection out the box, but it does come with a splitter to get you that if needed.

I’ve had Samsung TVs before and it has work out well. Until the latest TV I bought snapped from the base. Call, email and send pictures to Samsung. They send out repair people, was told it’s not repairable so they will have to replace it. After TWO months of weekly back and forth, being transfer from one department to the other they finally wasted my time to tell me that they can’t do anything to help and I should call the local repair people. Even though it’s their manufacturing flaw. It snapped! Will not recommended this company to anyone. Especially for the price you are paying. You would hope they would stand behind their product.

I have been a fan of Samsungs TVs for the last 20 years now. I havent bought anything but their products in that time. Its really sad to see that this brand is being ruined in this way. Its the same reason I switched to a Google Pixel instead of another Samsung Galaxy. Just so I can really help people understand how bad it is. These are the apps that are pre-loaded. You cant delete them, Samsung wont let you. They will let you hide them, but they still sit there taking up space and collecting metrics. Without further-ado, the list. DIRECT TV NOW (BETA) FANDANGO HBO NOW SHOWTIME LIVE TV+ NETFLIX AMAZON PRIME VIDEO HULU GOOGLE PLAY Movies and Tv VUDU YOUTUBE Gallery Facebook Video MLB.Tv Spotify Amazon Music WWE Network TNT TBS Internet e-Manual Obviously I can understand the last 2. I want Netflix, Prime Video, and Hulu. I even like Google Play and Youtube. However, when you put so much crap on the TV that there is only 22% free memory straight out of the gate, you should realize its a problem. It regularly has an effect on the performance of the TV. Apps are slow to load, and the remote feels unresponsive due to the ridiculous load of crap the TV is processing. The picture is beautiful yes. Still, sadly, for the first time ever. I cannot recommend buying this Television. I wish I hadnt purchased it, but I dont even know what I would buy instead. Dont end up stuck like me.

latest review update: The only thing I can complain about on this TV is the sound can be a bit low. This may be program or network related, but there are occasions where some programs are so low the volume needs to be cranked up to 70-80 out of 100. This is a little annoying, but it is not something that make a significant difference in my review. The TV is still really great, no problems, and I still love the picture. first review: Ordering, delivery, unboxing and set-up, all went like a dream The price on this 4K Samsung TV was great, and despite reading some things that concerned me a little in some of the nutty low reviews, my experience was stellar. The Samsung 50NU7100 Flat 50” 4K UHD 7 Series Smart TV 2018 was packed well, light and easy to remove from the box, and easy to move around ... the full box was about 40 pounds. All one has to do was to screw the legs in, and push the power cord into its receptacle. Immediately the picture turned on with no fanfare, not clicks or sounds, flashed or whatnot and began the set-up process. It was easy, even given my complex home network security. Once connected to the Internet the TV can check or its own software upgrade. I found the picture was almost perfect, and the sound was good as well. I was blown away because my old TV that I was replacing got about 3 or 4 digital channels in the area and this new TV with a better tuner in it got over 60. Most of them are religious nuts, or shopping channels, Chinese, Spanish, or other foreign broadcasting, but that is OK. I also hooked up my Blue-Ray player and tested it out. I could not believe the clarity, it was truly beautiful. Then came the test as I watch most of my TV content over set-top boxes like the ROKU or Apple TV. For all but the very oldest TV broadcasts in the old video format everything looked really beautiful, with the exception of some pixelation on some content. This is the my immediate reaction and review. I will come back over the next year and update this if and when there are problems. One minor thing I didnt like is the lack of some full documentation on the TV and its features. I dont really understand what I can do with the USB ports? I was hoping I could either download or play video and music off a USB drive, but I dont know because there is not documentation on that. So far, so good, and this is an excellent bargain and a very unostentatious and nice looking TV to have in my living room. Highly recommended so far, 4/5. Will upgrade to 5/5 after a few months with no problems ... it really is a 5.5 now.

I got this to replace a Vizio 39" TV. After hanging it to the wall it took only 15 minutes to install. The setup to WiFi was automatic. Setup of Prime and Netflix was equally easy. The picture quality is excellent. I have not changed any settings to the picture. The picture isnt very good looking at it from an angle. I especially like the sound quality. The Vizio sound quality wasnt nearly as good as this is. The remote is a little difficult. Sometimes you have to push a button twice to get it to respond. The manual is very much lacking in instructions. I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a quality 40" TV.
