Upgraded from a Benq HT1075. The biggest difference is the brightness and the colors. The smarteco is quieter on this model. I had the 1075 for a little over 2 years with no issues. Hopefully it will be the same for this model until real 4k HDR projectors become affordable. I am projecting on a 112" silver ticket screen. Source Roku 4 Netflix.

The frequent automatic shutting down mentioned in other posts started around 6 months after purchase. The same as mentioned by others that it is ceiling-installed in a cool and well ventilated place in our basement with temperature remaining around 72F. Each time before it shuts down itself, the fan (I assume) starts to work hard that raises noise for a few seconds. What makes me conclude that it is not heating issue, is that the shutting down is not consistent in a predictable pattern, say, 30 minutes into playing a movie it gets too hot and stops working. Instead, it goes a random unpredictable way: it can stop working 10minutes after a movie starts; after we waited for 10 minutes for it to cool down and restarted the projector, it however played the rest of the movie for another 1.5 hr with no problem at all!! It may work fine two days in a row, and shut down 3 times another day. But these days we could see that the symptoms are deteriorating. We only use the projector for online movies casted using Chromecast, about every other day (we are trying it daily now to take records). Again the symptoms started after 6 months of use. Another issue I have with this projector is that I can see that the colors are not as bright as our computer monitor. I tried to adjust with different mode, brightness/contrast etc.. I wonder if this is what a home projector supposed to be like, since i cant compare it is our first one. Other than the two issues above (with one a major problem), we enjoyed the clear images it brings and low noise. Really wish the problems could be fixed...

All in all, it is a very good product. The only reason why Im not giving it 5 stars is because the picture isnt quite as sharp and bright as my last projector, but it makes up for it in other ways. After my Epson Home Cinema 2045s hdmi ports conked out for the second time, I thought I would give Benq a try. Certain things are clearly superior with my new Benq: the audio speaker is outstanding and can be used by itself while I had to use the audio out to my Bose system with my Epson. My projector is situated way off to the side but the automatic Keystone functionality made squaring the picture up a snap, unlike the constant fiddling with my old projector. However, my old projector was 3LCD with 35000:1 contrast ratio which made flawless HD images that still took my breath away 4 years later. This BenQ has very good picture quality but its just not as sharp and bright as my old one. I feel like Im watching a projected image instead of forgetting this fact and getting immersed in the movie. The video stutters very slightly too, but Im hoping this can be fixed with settings. I really really like it. But Im not head over heels.

what a load of crap. this projector is finicky about where it goes forget putting on top of a bookshelf. no adjustments for the room. no way i can just drop it in the center of the screen and have it close to the floor. also finicky about inputs. do not buy go get something more adjustable. this is amateur hour.

Bought this while waiting for 4k projectors to come down in price (particularly short throw projectors which I need for the space Im in). The 3050 is pre-calibrated for color, and even after running through all the calibrations there was nothing that I needed to adjust (but Im in a dark space, YMMV). Only negative is the lack of motorized zoom, so I tend to leave it on its "fill the screen in calibration mode" position, and live with the occasional non-anamorphic DVD rather than mess with the alignment by constantly adjusting the zoom.

I debated along time about which projector to get. After many reviews and YouTube reviews, I decided to go with the BenQ HT3050, and I do not regret it one bit! It is an absolute pleasure to watch movies and tv, but also play my ps4 on, with no lag times! I have a 110" screen and its wonderful! I recommend this product to anyone looking for a great projector to watch movies/tv or to game on! You will not regret it!

This was purchased based on a co-workers review of his BenQ HT1070. I wasnt too concerned for needing 4k resolution since content is still very minimal. I will say the Cinema Color standards supported are wonderful. Weve watched several movies and loved the way it look, I would have to say it nearly looks just like any LCD TV, just way bigger. I did work on adjustments of brightness, contrast, and color, but I will say they were very minuscule adjustments. This things is pretty much ready to go out of the box.

Amazing resolution and color. Really great 3D effect. Using Firestorm LT 2.0! DLP link 3D glasses. Fills my 120" screen at 11 mounting distance. This is the maximum distance away or image gets too big for the screen. Room has to be darkened to see detail in dark scenes at that size. Using Loctek PT2 LCD/DLP Projector Ceiling Mount and Homegear 120" HD Motorized 16:9 Projector Screen. Mediabridge ULTRA Series HDMI Cable (25 Feet) delivers signal from my Sony STR-DN104 Amp.

Very pleased with this projector. If you are looking for a good home projector that doesn’t break the bank. This is the one for you. Great contracts ratios, great picture on just a white wall (flat sheen with light orange peel), fan is pretty quiet, and setup is super simple. At this price point, you can’t get another projector that performs this well. If you like superb vivid colors and damn good blacks. You can’t go wrong with this projector.

Great projector so far! worth the money for sure. I researched for months between this one and an optima and this one is amazing....and the 3d is awesome too. Im currently projecting on to a wall I painted specially for the projector. I custom built a slide rail for the projector so I could slide it closer or farther for different sizes. Pro: it auto focuses when you slide it to different sizes. Also, the projector is 3D which looks amazing. Con: I found out later that its active 3d which requires "active DLP link" 3d glasses. But I found some on amazon for about $17 a piece, sainsonic is the brand. Also, if you are thinking of doing surround sound you could do what I did and mount the soundbar on the ceiling above the projector and the rear speakers behind you. Works and sounds great. Lastly, I put in dimmer switches for both lights in the room and blackout blinds for best results during the day. Full light fades the picture some but with the shades down and the lights dimmed its perfect!...like a theatre. Overall Im perfectly happy with the benq purchase. Bought on March 9th
