Ive spent days and days researching projectors. I looked at lumens, throw ratios, bulbs, you name it. I probably spent about 3 weeks straight looking for the best projector $1,000 can buy. I watch movies, anime, and play videogames. So my search was narrowed between this, and the BenQ 2150ST. I have a small room and I was afraid the Ht3050 wouldnt cover the wall like I wanted it to. I have the projector set back at about 13ft. After much review, tech support, pictures, youtube reviews, etc, I chose the HT3050. Im very happy with my choice. I have about a 156" super clear display at about 13ft. The benefit of the 2150ST was the low latency in gaming lag. Well, the first time I played my XboxOne through the HT3050, I noticed no lag whatsoever. The picture quality on this thing is astounding. Every color is vivid and colorful. There are no rainbow effects. No lag between frame rates. If you are debating between this one and another projector in this price range, I guarantee you will be extremely satisfied with this projector. I have it in Eco mode and the picture quality literally didnt even seem to diminish. So Im getting a lot more lamp life out of an amazing looking projector.

Buying this BenQ projector was my third attempt at finding a projector to fit my medium sized living room and it turned out that the third time was the charm. This projector exceeds my expectations for a sub 1000 dollar product. Black levels are excellent, color accuracy is solid and the dreaded rainbow effect is minimal (which is something that I am sensitive to). Ill start off with the black levels. I honestly cant tell where the letter boxes on movies end on the edge of the screen which was very obvious on all three of my previous projectors. To say it another way, if Im displaying a pure black image I cant see where the edges of the projection end. With lower end projectors you usually have a lot of light leakage in the black so blacks show up as a gray color. This is (nearly) completely absent on the BenQ. Blacks are indeed black and I couldnt be happier. Id like to comment more on color accuracy but this is something Ive never had a superb eye for. I can tell when things are off but I lack the ability to perceive the finer differences in a well calibrated display. That being said this projector has great color accuracy to my eye and I havent felt the need to do much fine tuning. One thing I hate with DLP projectors is the rainbow effect. For those unfamiliar DLP projectors can have a problem with light shapes moving on black backgrounds such as credits in movies. If you move your eyes there appears to be a rainbow colored trail the follows the light shape. Its really distracting to me and Im glad to say that this is not a problem with the benq projector at all. I can see it a little bit if a shake my head a lot but I can in no way see this effect under normal viewing conditions. The 3d on this projector is adequate. Its not as nice as my samsung TV. The samsung, the images pop out quite a bit and you have the ability to adjust the depth of the 3d which this projector doesnt offer BUT its fine and theres nothing to complain about. No ghosting or double images and the projector is definitely bright enough to support the dimming effect of 3d glasses. If youre a big fan of 3d like my wife and I are then youll most likely be satisfied with what this projector can do. A nice feature that this projector offers is the ability to project large at relatively short distances compared to other projectors. My living room isnt that wide from couch to screen, probably only 9 feet but this projector gets to the entire 110 inches with out maxing out its zoom. There are better options out there if you have an even more narrow living room but they are more costly. All in all Im delighted with this purchase for its cost and performance. If this projector fits your budget then I wouldnt hesitate to buy it.

Did about a month of research before purchasing a projector. This one and a $2000 sony were my final options, and I felt the value of this Benq would exceed that of the Sony. As best as I can tell so far, 100% correct. Setup was simple, unit has two dials for enlarging and sharpening the picture, and provides a crisp 135" 1080p image with excellent color accuracy at just 11 feet away.

I have previously worked for AMC Theatres as a Projection Booth Manager at one of their flagship locations in Lake Buena Vista FL (Currently named AMC Disney Springs 24) -- so when I finally built a home with a dedicated theatre space I set out to find the best projector I could find that was in the $800-$1200 range. If there are a few things I am guilty of, they are excessive research for just about every purchase -- and the need to get the best product within reasonable price constraints -- or perhaps at a small stretch of the budget (my family calls me High-End John, btw). My research led me to the BenQ HT3050. I have had a small bit of history history with home/office projectors -- after I noticed that a local electronics recycler had often listed surplus projectors on their eBay store -- I figured Id dip my toes into the projector world (especially when I could pick up locally and save on shipping), I purchased a used Sharp projector on eBay that could do 1024x768 (i.e. 720p) -- while it was thrilling to get a large projected picture on the wall -- it fell short of the engrossing experience you come to expect from a theatre experience (or even a large LCD for that matter). I have previously had a DLP rear projection TV that had a beautiful picture and had high hopes for a projector of similar resolution -- Lets just say I was less than thrilled. Obviously for my theatre to provide the viewing experience that I hoped -- I would need need a modern projector. While there were a few 4K options available at the time of my purchase, both pricing was many times more than I could possibly spend, and (even now) the availability of 4K content is just not widespread -- especially for backlog titles. While nice to ride the leading edge, it was not in the numbers for this purchase. So having my sights set on 1080p projectors, the specs, pros and cons, continually pointed in the direction of the BenQ line of projectors -- with 3 of their models highly rated across sites on the internet, as well as Amazon. Knowing that calibration is important to the presentation and after reading up on the Rec.709 specification. I decided to go with the HT3050 over the other impressive BenQ offerings (especially because the price gap between models was minimal).

The BenQ HT3050 HD 1080p 3D Home theater Projector is a mouthful to say. My package came on time so kudos to the fine people at UPS. Double boxed for protection with a lot of foam stuffed into and around the Projector I was very happy to see that BenQ takes time to protect their products when being shipped. the boxed was also taped around all edges Twice! to ensure if any type of liquid would come in contact that it had little chance of reaching the projector. The Projector set up itself is not to bad If I say so myself and by not to bad I mean. It is bigger then most Epsons and other brands and the Keystone setting are a little different and you have to play trial and error with them to get set right. The Focus and screen size strolls are nicely placed with a protective sliding door to keep out pesky people. The lens cover is a nice solid piece of transparent plastic that fits nicely into the lens hole which is no where near your Glass Lens. The Sound of the machine, Not the audio but the sound the machine makes while preforming is SO QUITE!!! By far the most quite I have owned and I was very impressed with this. The Speakers are nice. Better then TV quality and quite loud to be honest. Not the annoying Mono tone loud. They have decent base and the treble is good as well. I would give them a 7 out of 10 for speaker not compared to surround sound but compared to TV speakers.. There is a audio out input which mean 1 thing.... You can hook up your surround sound. There are also 2 HDMIs on the back as well as you other hooks up (PC,RED,WHITE,Yellow) The picture quality is top notch and Watching Football, Baseball any sport for that matter is awesome as well as movies. Freddie and Jason never looked so scary. If you want to travel into the realm of Projectors and want something that is beautiful and well worth the penny. I suggest picking this Item up. You will be happy. Your family will be happy, Your neighbors and friends will be happy. Hell your dog will be happy.

Ive had this projector for just over a year now and I have no complaints! Everyone who comes over to watch sports, movies, etc... is always impressed with how clear and sharp the picture is! I still havent tried the 3D yet even though Ive had it for a year but plan to soon. With a 120" screen were definitely the place to be for Super Bowl parties and my kids love have friends over to watch movies. UPDATE 11/19/17: I have one complaint. The bulb finally burnt out and when trying to replace it, the screw that holds the bulb housing in place is so tight that I stripped the screw when trying to remove it. Not sure what Im going to do now because Ive tried everything I can think of to remove the screw! Its almost like the used thread lock on this screw when it was installed. No reason why they had to over tighten something that has to be replaced every so often! No sure what Im going to do now!!!

I have owned this projector for almost a year and have not had any problems with it. I watch movies on it and play games on it with zero noticeable lag (and Im super picky about lag.) The only thing that sucks is you cannot update the firmware on it without sending it to BenQ. With almost all devices being able to do this over the air now, its really silly they do this. But - that being said - I have ran into ZERO issues with it and ZERO bugs in the menu to even justify a needed firmware. But - the downside is you wont get any new features (if they are added) without paying to send it to them.

I was looking for a good projector as an upgarde to my my existing old nonHD projector. Initially, I bought couple of other projectors but was not happy with the quality. Then, I saw good reveiws for this projector and thought of trying it as well. I called the professionals to install the new projector along with new Silver Ticket projector screen. Believe me, I am so impressed by the picture that I now prefer to watch every movie on this set-up. Picture is so crystal clear. Black is black and not grey. So crisp that I can see the dust particles flying when during movie someone was running in the field. So impressive. Love it!

UPDATE: 34 movie nights later, and were still delighted. Black levels really are surprisingly better than the 3LCD Epson this replaced, I may have permanently moved back to DLP. I gave this the "Emily Test", as she has the youngest eyes in the house and was very sensitive to the rainbow effect from our Mitsubishi HC3800. I didnt tell her for a month that we had purchased a DLP and asked her about the picture quality - zero rainbows. Very, very quiet too. Barring some unforeseen failure Id say this one is a winner. We did buy the extended warranty coverage just as a precaution. This replaced my 5 year / 5000 hour old PowerLite Home Cinema 3010, which had served us well. It was finally time to replace the bulb, when some color artifacting (a pale blue band) developed on the far right side of the screen. Subtle, and hard to see in color content, but it wasnt worth paying to repair and I knew it would drive me nuts. Anyway, for my needs this projector was a perfect fit. My installation needs are a bit weird, as I have to place my projector on the ceiling between my 1st and 2nd row of seats. With a throw distance of around 9 feet, all of the current generation Epsons were ruled out as they wouldnt fill my 100" screen at that distance. This BenQ could be installed as close as 8 4" and still fill my screen. And unlike its big brother (the BenQ HT4050) the bulb life is between 4000 and 6000 hours. In fact the picture quality between the BenQ HT2050/3050 and HT4050 is negligible, with the "big" missing feature being CFI (Creative Frame Interpolation). CFI is that creepy motion smoothing effect that looks good in sports and makes everything else look awful. And unlike the BenQ HT2050 the HT3050 features the Rec 709 color calibration, which means you get a great picture right out of the box. The HT3050 is the sweet spot for movie/TV viewing, the HT2050 is for gamers and those that have the color calibration tools to calibrate themselves, and the HT4050 is for movie lovers who also enjoy sports and replacing their projector bulb often. Anyway, the surprising thing for me was how much better this looked compared to the Epson 3010 it replaced. Is that because the projector had five years of wear? Was it because the bulb was end of life? Or are the sharpness and black levels of the BenQ DLP really that much better? Hard to say, but thus far Im pretty stoked. And no sign of rainbows thankfully, I think theyve finally put that issue to bed. Another plus over my old Epson is that this thing is quiet! Set it to Rec 709 and Eco mode and youre done. PS - Installation wasnt bad, with the vertical lens shift really coming in handy. Be sure to go into the menu and turn off the power state beep, as its pretty irritating. Also be sure to close the sliding door to hide the zoom and focus knobs otherwise itll leak a ton of light into the room.
