So far so good. Works perfectly. How long it lasts is another story. If it still works perfectly in 6 months I will update my review and give a 5 star rating, until then, four stars. I only am using it as a disc player, I am not using any apps. The audio output actually works, and with another 15$ for an adapter I get analog audio output to my amp.

We’ve only been using this player for a few months and it has already stopped working. We’ll be in the middle of a movie and the player will turn off and we cannot get it to turn on again. Sometimes it doesn’t turn on at all. I’ve checked all the cords and am not sure what is causing this. Unfortunately we’ll need to purchase a new one. Very disappointed.

I’ve had the product (Sony BDPS1700 refurbished) for nearly a month now. I hooked it up to hdmi, power, and Ethernet cables out of the box. Turned it on, and the player automatically did an initial check to update the operating system. It updated via the internet connection. It has not done an automatic update since but it does note to you whether there is an update available. I’ve not had a problem with the tray being stuck on child protection. It works for blu-ray and dvds. I would buy it again because of the pricing to comparable new products.

Product packaging on this re-furbished player was not great, barely adequate. Shipping package was fine. However, I was not buying a package, only a basic Blu Ray player that works. In the end VERY HAPPY with product so far! Have played several movies, and it produces an outstanding picture on my 50" set, quiet, and no skipping or pixelating at all. Cant beat this unit at this price point. No complaints!

The player is exactly what I expected. Replacing my similar model which needs repair on the laser alignment. But well worth the price to now have a backup unit. Ive always found "SONY" to be a very reliable product. Unfortunately Im a smoker, which causes the laser lens to need occasional cleaning, and I also use the player every day. Probably more than the average bear. Lol. Wonderful product otherwise! I highly recommend if your looking for an Inexpensive, Quality Blu-Ray Player!

Although I have not connected it to Wi-Fi yet, everything looked great! Menu screen, the player itself, and the upgrade to standard DVDs. Very sleak looking and fit perfectly on the shelf. Came with the remote. Just needed 2 AAA batteries and it worked out well. Would recommend for the price, despite it being refurbished!

Overall, it works OK for the prices, but I really dont like the way the remote works. Very hard to get to the menu that allows you to return to the list of available programs without logging out and logging back in. Also dislike the delay between the time you push the OFF button and the time the machine actually shut off. Sometimes when a DVD is in the tray it does not want to shut off at all until the plug is pulled. Mostly I tolerate these idiosyncrasies because of the relatively low price I paid for the unit. A higher price model would no doubt perform better but of course it would cost more.

I purchased this knowing it was a refurbished item and in the past have had great luck. Well, my luck finally ran out! You need the remote to program and use this player and the remote would not work. I even tried a universal remote but even that didnt work. From what I did see the picture quality would have been good but I couldnt in good conscience keep this. I do give 5 stars to Amazon for the ease of the return! Thank you Amazon for ensuring that we get a working product that we paid for and if we dont refunding us in a very timely manner!

Perfect condition and perfect for what I need. It plays DVDs and Blu-Rays perfectly. The sound and picture quality is excellent. If you are looking for something to watch Netflix/Hulu/Prime/etc. look elsewhere. It’ll work on this (with an Ethernet cable) but it’s silly to do that. If you want to stream but a Fire TV, Chromecast, or Roku for WAY cheaper. Or better yet, buy an Xbox or PS4. Don’t game? Doesn’t matter. If you’re spending 100+ anyway why not get something that has multiple functions. Bottom line, this product does what it’s supposed to do, and it does it well, for a relatively cheap price. If you’re going to pay more than $70 for a Blu-Ray you’re making a mistake. I would highly recommend for anyone out there who is looking for a traditional Blu-Ray/DVD machine. I got it for my mom and she loves it. Does everything.
