Its a very nice, compact little unit with a lot of capabilities. The remote has a "Netflix" button, which I like, because thats mostly why I bought it (along with wanting to watch Blu-Ray disks, of course). Ive been using it for a bit now, and while it plays DVDs fine, it more or less sucks for streaming Netflix. Whether its in normal or HD, movies and TV shows will randomly get really blurry and then clear up over and over. Its pretty bad. Sometimes it works fine through a whole movie, but other times its almost unwatchable. Ive tried the same shows and movies at the same time on the PC we used to use to watch Netflix, and its always just great when the PC is feeding the HD display, but when the Sony box is feeding it... bleah. I even upgraded my already fast internet service from 30Mbps to 50Mbps and it didnt make any difference in the video quality from this device. Ive tried both wired and wifi connections, etc. A lot of the times when Ive run the Netflix speed test on the Sony box, it comes back with 10Mbps, so Im not sure whats up with that. My guess is that the PC, having a faster processor and much more RAM available (32GB) it can buffer the data to make up for any slowdowns. Still, I have trouble believing that the Sony box doesnt have *some* capability in that area. TLDR: Its good for Blu-Ray disks, so Im keeping it, but it sucks for Netflix streaming, so Im going to try something else for that. Its too bad, because it would be handy not to have yet another device.

Everything started out ok. Plugged in and configured easily. Then not sure what happened. The unit stopped responding to the remote. The only way to do anything was to unplug it for 15 seconds and try again, and that was only 50/50. I even did a few software upgrades to see if that would help and it did not. Returning the unit and trying something else.

I got a tell you I got more then I thought I was getting out of this unit. It plays all the content on both of my DNLA media servers with no problem, I did not even know it supported DNLA. It is nice and small pretty much fits any ware. It has the obligatory support for Netflixs but also has Amazon support and I have been able to use the YouTube client to play all the movies I have on bought on Google play. A couple of the other included apps are nice as well. You can use it with an Android phone as a Chrome cast target from YouTube as well but it is a little slow, it just really starts the YouTube app and selects the content your trying to cast but still it will do in a pinch. I tried to cast Pandora to it but it does not show up as a client. That and a couple of other apps I use from my phone mean I will have to keep my Chrome cast ultra hooked up to my TV, still but I already had one so no big deal. The Blue-Ray player itself has been pretty good so far too, cant complain. It is starting to make me feel bad that I do not have a 4K TV but that is a story for another day. I have done all my apps usage and streaming over the built in WI-Fi and have not had any pausing or buffering after the content starts. The one real issue I had was I also bough a KCOOL HDMI 3 port hub with the player and the player does not work right when plugged into the hub. The picture comes up but you get interference on the screen. I only have 2 HDMI ports on my TV so I just moved my Chrome Cast and Direct-TV receiver to the hub and they play well with it so I was OK with that. If your looking for a Blue-Ray player and a decent media streaming device you cant go wrong with this unit. I was previously using my PS3 but I really only play games on my PC now and was not interested in getting a new gaming console. If your in a similar situation I definitely recommend the BDP-S3700!

This is the 2nd Blu-ray player I have bought. When I upgraded to s smart TV, I moved the Sony player into another room with my older TV. It is an excellent way to upgrade an older tv into a smart one. I purchased a second player because I wanted to continue watching dvds on my new TV. This is a very simple, easy to use player. It’s also quite compact, so it fits almost anywhere. I was wondering if there would be a ‘conflict’ between the new TV and the player as far as menu and app designation, but not at all. The unit is very easy to hook up and program. And virtually all the work is done for the user. Technology can be quite wonderful. The unit arrived in excellent condition, as did the first one that I purchased about 6 months earlier. The only problem I have had with it is the occasional ‘freeze’ when streaming. A bit annoying, but an easy fix. I disconnect the power cord, reconnect, and we’re back in business.

Sent this back. It did the same thing our old one we were replacing did. The remote didnt work half the time, we kept having to unplug the blasted thing to reboot it so it would work again. I am so disappointed in Sony. They are putting out junk. They used to be a quality name. No more, in my book.

I bought this to replace a 2014 model (I have two of those and love them). One of them quit reading dvds and nothing would fix it. Alas, I had to take the plunge and didnt want to pay to pay a bundle for a lot of bells and whistles I neither wanted nor needed. This one fit the bill. I dont think the interface is as user friendly as the 2014 model and the remote is also not as user friendly (which is why I deducted one star), but that is a relatively minor issue. The remote just seems hard to use - maybe because it is smaller and the buttons are so close together - it is easy to press the wrong one. The blu-ray works well, hold your place if you pause or stop watching and then power off and power back on later - I love that feature. Just too much other garbage/apps that I will never use. I have been receiving a prompt for a software update and have yet to run it. I am leery of those, as I have heard stories of customers who said they had issues after running updates (though not on this particular model). If you are like me and just want something to watch your dvds on and connect to netflix - I dont think you can beat this item for the price.

I purchased this to replace the Sony BDPS6500 (which replaced a Samsung that didnt work out of the box), which I had purchased 3 weeks earlier and didnt last a month. This one lasted 14 months, so it was a definite step up. When purchased, these were replacing a 12 year old Sony, which had finally quit playing. Sony, what happened to that kind of quality? While it worked, the picture quality was decent and the upscaling on DVDs made for a good sharp play back. 14 months later and it cant read ANY discs, of any type. It stopped reading BluRay discs a few months ago, but I didnt worry too much, since most of my collection is DVD, As of a couple of days ago, it cant read anything. I tried using a head cleaner, which is basically a CD, and it doesnt see it. I tried playing other CDs and, again, it doesnt see them. I, also, tried a few other formats and got nothing. I did the latest update and that didnt help. I did a hard reset, several times, and, again, no joy. I get the same error in all cases... "there is no disc." It does continue to work with online apps. As for the remote, it is simple and functional, sometimes. About six months ago, I started having to give it a smack against a hard surface every once in awhile, to get it to work. A little annoying, but not that big of a deal. If youre in the market for a disposable player, this one is pretty good, while it lasts. As for me, Im going to give my relationship with Sony a rest. I just ordered a LG and will see how that goes.

A wonderful upgrade from what I had. Set up is a breeze...both the audio and video portions of the presentation are really great. The unit arrived early. I will do business with these guys again.

I purchased this upgrade because I needed Wi-Fi as we occasionally experience Ethernet interruptions. It came in a very timely matter and the packaging was great. The price was negligible but affordable for all the advertised features. It installed seamlessly and I was able to configure my networks Wired and Wireless just fine. The Wi-Fi connection seems to be weak (45%) but we still have a few more upgrades to our system and hopefully that figure will go up. I appreciate all the apps. that came with it although I wont use 95% of them. Amazon Instant Videos (Prime), Netflix, and YouTube come in beautifully and with HD quality. One complaint is that the remote does not come with a backlight. I hope that some day we can get remotes that have lit buttons the only one I found was a Logitech with an LED screen, might try this. It is a universal remote (supposedly). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004OVECU0/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I11R0W5GGV8UWP&colid=2U2GP6WMVIPZU

DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY! RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY! READ CUSTOMER REVIEWS Dont waste your money on this blu-ray player. Im writing this review because the blu-ray player has been nothing but problems since the start. Straight out of the box it has very cheap construction, it constantly has problems keeping up with remote inputs (lagging) and youll find yourself double clicking the wrong item. Then it started to randomly freeze while watching and show and restarting on its own. Once it restarts, its like it has been factory reset, requiring you to input all network information, Netflix passwords, etc.. When this happens 2-3 times a day, its a real pain. Then tonight it finally decided it wasnt going to restart and just stays on the blu-ray logo screen. Once again, dont waste your money on this blu-ray player. Spend a bit more or at least go with something different
