We bought this BluRay/DVD player in Feb 2015, and brought it to Germany. It is paired by HDMI cable with a 32" LG LED TV, and the pictures of both DVD and BluRay discs are very good and clear. It does correctly play discs from the USA, discs from the UK and discs from Germany. There are several problems which should not occur on a player at this price from Sony. This player, moderately often, has difficulty reading BluRay discs, and it hangs up. We keep our discs in pristine condition, so it is not a disc problem. When the player hangs, it will not respond to any functions, whether eject, play, etc, and it cannot be turned off. You have to disconnect the power to the player and then power it up again. This can happen anywhere from 1 to 5 times before it will correctly read the disc, which is very frustrating that it becomes completely non-functioning until it finally reads the disc. Sony should have built this unit with better quality control.

I ordered this item after comparing reviews and specs of all the available multi region players I could find. After putting this unit through the usual tests,I can actually make an assessment based upon years of home theater component installations. First, let me suggest that spending the few extra $s on this model over the base models is well worth it,in my view. The remote is well designed and works great. Make sure if you buy this particular unit, you first connect it to the Internet via the LAN input. From there, your player will notify you that there is a firmware update available. This update will make the Amazon instant streaming available. The setup is easy. The directions are simple to understand. The player works so well that I can honestly say the playback quality is within the realm of some players costing 10 times as much, including my Oppo BD 93! I know Sony CS ranks as the worst, but for this price, you cant go wrong!

This blu ray player is AWESOME!!! It plays 3D blu rays, but most of all, it allows me to watch discs that were outside my viewing experience because of the region they were released in. Since I received my player, I have been able to order DVDs and Blu-rays from other regions that are not available in the US. This player is priced so that I could afford to finally allow myself to see these films that before I was unable to view. dont let its small size fool you. While this player may be small, it packs a big punch as a player of media from all over the world. I am so happy that I chose to order this.

Easy to install solid product that you would expect from Sony. However, I miss the feature of seeing frames when wanting to go back or forward during the video play. This feature has become common place, I had expected that Sony would incorporate it in their player even though DVD is now being relegated to the list of old technologies.

At first this was perfect. Shortly after receiving, it started freezing and shutting down. Seller suggested a system reset. Tried that. Worked for a day. Contacted seller and was told the software is the most current. Tried resetting to factory settings again. Waa told by seller to send it in at my cost which I dont think its fair. Not happy to find a box and pay to send this in!

Very attractive machine. Is also really small which is great for our limited space. You have to set the region code, but it was quite easy. Dont rely on the instructions (they look like Xerox copies rather than the originals and are not helpful anyway), but read the reviews for any questions. We set it up in minutes and have watched movies from two different regions so far without any issues. UPDATE: The machine is still going strong over a year so no worries about the warranty voided due to the unlocking of the player for international movies. My only concern is that there are no buttons, not even an eject button. Should we lose the remote (which is tiny like the player), the movies are stuck in the player until we find it. So far not an issue but we are really careful with Redbox movies. Losing the remote for a week or two in a toybox could get expensive. Treat that remote like gold.

Most of our DVDs are from the U.S., but occasionally we will pick up a DVD from England or Australia and it has been frustrating not to be able to watch them. We have only just received the Sony player, but it is everything that it promises. The picture is so crisp that we are retiring our old Samsung player in favor of this one. Easy to set up and use. No problems hooking it up to our existing television. Has played everything we own, so far.

I bought this DVD player for my (elderly) parents. I set it up for them and taught my mother how to use it. It could not be easier. I chose multi-region because sometimes they watch videos from Portugal or elsewhere and the last thing I wanted was my mother getting upset that something wouldnt work; and the nice thing is that you dont have to do anything for a DVD thats from another region, the machine just recognizes it on its own. (I think its slightly different for Blu-Ray but havent tried that.) Its lightweight, compact, and so easy to "install"--just a matter of plugging in the HDMI cable, in this case.

Bought the device to replace a DVD player and a Roku. Remote is extremely sluggish to respond to input. When running Netflix, it can take up to 30 seconds to get the device to return to the devices home screen (Not bothering to even attempt to return to the Netflix main screen as that tends to crash the device). Before thinking this is an issue of slow internet and not the device, consider that I write this as I have two Tvs in the house running with Netflix on HD with no issue. As a DVD player it is fine, but way over priced when considered against the additional functions it should provide.

Excellent player. Picture quality is great. Love the compact size. As mentioned by other purchasers, the only issue is that the instructions are not clear. For Blu Rays, do not use the power on/off button - Instead, just click on the color button that corresponds to the Region of the Blu Ray you want to watch and the power goes on and plays fine.
