Okay, Im not returning this because, I bought it specifically for a friend who just had ANKLE SURGERY and is laid up for 4-6 weeks at home. Unit arrived with the POWER BUTTON obviously and physically broken and unusable... it CANNOT BE TURNED ON!! And did NOT need to be turned on to SEE this problem (see photos)! But they shipped it anyway. Yeah, life is good. I keep because it does play okay and can be turned on with the remote, or by opening/closing the tray, and MY FRIEND IS LAID UP *NOW* and does not have weeks for me to return/replace this. So good on you, seller, for selling a piece of crap that works just well enough that you get my money in a time of need. It mostly works... but 1 star because I cannot give ZERO for a defect so obvious it was apparent before PLUGGING IT IN!! Booooo.

The Samsung Blu-ray Player Model #BD-JM57C/ZA has a beautiful curved exterior and a compact design. Easy to set up. Wi-Fi connected flawlessly and I updated the software in the players settings. The remote has a simple layout with easy to read buttons. For being a Certified Refurb it was in like new condition. Its remote and player synced well with our Samsung TV. Looking forward to years of service.

I got the DVD player this morning. I can hear pieces rattling around inside, which is disconcerting, and the reason for 3 stars instead of 4. It seems to work ok, though, so Ill keep it and see if it continues to function properly.

Works as promised, from box. Menu driven on first start up, including wi-fi connection (no issues connecting on 1st try). Having read reviews, I already knew that there wasnt a Power "ON" light, and from the photos I knew it would not have a display which was okay - I just wanted to replace our 6 year old Blu-ray player (it was getting slower and slower loading newer blu-rays) with something else. I considered Sony, but they were on the high side for a Blu-Ray player with USB and Wi-Fi, along with only 3 star ratings (for the models I was viewing). So I started looking at refurbished players. I couldnt see buying the refurbished Sony that had 3-stars, but eventually found this one. I dont have issues with buying refurbished items w/warranty. My Nikon APC camera is refurbished (2 years of great shots so far), the 10mm Nikkor lens is refurbished and takes excellent wide angle shots as well (just a couple of examples). So... Ive had it 3 days and seems to work fine (Check the dimensions because this is kinda small), but should it take a tragic twist Ill update. As a side note, I had a large movie file (20Gb) that I tried to play on the older player but while the video was good, the sound was too choppy. I plugged it into this players USB slot, the menu recognized it was a 3.0 usb stick (but I think the player is only a 2.0) - eh, long story short ----> The movie played just fine on this unit. Usually electronics like this craps out within the 1 month or less (within 90day warranty period), but I find if you leave it "ON" for a whole week and use it w/o issues, whatever the refurbished product is, should be okay (my experience). **UPDATE** 2/25/2019 Its still working fine, however I did run across something that is an issue for me (although Ive yet to research it). Its in regards to streaming content from another source. My old Blu-Ray player would show my shared source easily, and I could then pick a file to stream, and while this one shows the source and files, I can only access them via the dumbed-down menu selections to play VIDEOS. By selecting video it displays my files (most are .mp4) along with some .wmvs I did myself but only recognizes the .wmv files, refusing to play the .mp4 files (error, Files not recognized ). Irritating to me in this aspect, as it will play .mp4 files off USB stick. I guess by selecting the icon "VIDEO" Im telling it to only play .wmvs. This would not be a deal breaker as I figured that the low price equals barebones.. **UPDATE** 5/20/2019 - Still working fine, but I uploaded a picture of the remote control because its probably the worst designed remote in the history of remote controls. The buttons that you would normally use frequently are placed so far down in the lay out that its easy to press the wrong button, and cause a variety of issues. We still enjoy the player, but really hate the remote.

Ordered this Blue ray player and it arrived as it should have. That is the only good part. For a reconditioned item that was supposed to be thoroughly checked out I am totally disappointed. I first tried to play a Blueray DVD,one that works in another Blueray player I have, it says reading disc for about 2 minutes then kicks it out and says unreadable. I then tried a standard DVD that plays in every other DVD player, including another Blueray player and this player acts the same way it did with all the other Blueray discs I tried. I dont know why they bother sending this out. Either they just sent a reconditioned sticker on it and sent it out or the technician has no clue. I should think wasting my time and theirs would be something to be avoided.

The product would not play any disc right out of the box. No blu ray, no dvd, no cd, nothing. I guess refurbished means they put it in a different box to ship it out again. If they plugged it in and tried to play a disc they would have seen that it does not work. In addition, it came with no user manual, no hdmi cables and no batteries for the remote. Samsung chat support was no help in trying to correct the problem after spending over an hour trying some trouble shooting techniques like unplugging the device for 30 seconds. I would not recommend purchasing this item. You may get the one I am sending back to Amazon. Amazon was great in their return policy. I cant complain about them but the company that does the refurbishing is not doing their job.
