Its a plug. Whats to say? The device its connected to either powers up or it doesnt, and mine did so it functions as intended.

I lost my charging/power cable for my sony bluetooth speaker. Happened to remember it used the same cable as my sony blue-ray drive (which I gave to a friend of mine) so I chanced it and bought this. Works without a hitch

Bought this to use on my Sony Ipod player after original cord was lost. Used exact model number to order this. It does not fit! Female end of adapter is too big to fit the ipod player. So disappointing! Returning.
