This was the "dumbest" 4k bluray that I could find. Since I own a copy of Avatar I wanted to make sure that it played 3d movies. This has no wifi which is fine with me. I plugged the device into the outlet, connected the hdmi and then I plugged in the ethernet cable and checked for a firmware update (there was none). I then unplugged the ethernet and watched a movie. I use my amazon fire tv 4k to stream movies so I was looking for a "dumb" player without all these other features and apps that I will get and use on my fire tv. This is a one aaa battery remote so it is relatively low powered. There is an annoying red light that stays on on the front of the player. I just covered it with two camera privacy stickers. That did the trick.

Does not play 4K Blu-Ray disc as its not compatible with the LG "Deep Color" feature. This feature is meant to enhance the picture quality and play it at its optimal setting but when the TV turns the feature on, the disc stops playing. Thought this was strange as they are both LG units. My TV is an LG UHD 4K TV and I dont understand why theres an issue. I can turn the feature off, but when I start playing the disc again, the feature turns back on and Im stuck in a loop.

No frills 4K HDR Blu-ray player. I already have multiple streaming devices, so just wanted a basic player to play 4K discs. Not disappointed with picture quality. Better than streaming quality. Discs load up quicker than my other non-4K Blu-ray players. Remote is a bit small.

Works good had one freeze situation. Updated unit 2x and we shall see if freezes again. Is simple and dumb as someone on here stated and that a good thing. Will make rubbing noise if something is heavy and has feet that sit right on top of the DVD mechanism. I have a center channel that was sitting on it just took a little finesse and it was fine. plays 4k and looks great! Also makes Blurays look 4k (up converts) so it kinda breathes new life into them. I have not tried standard definition DVD yet but Im sure it would make them look better as well. Cant beat this player for the price has all the formats even some more expensive players dont! Like Dolby atmos, 3D, and UHD. Docked star for no wifi update and one freeze situation.

Replacement for a three year Samsung player that had 4K upscale capability and the first difference between the two was how fast it loads movies, even 4K. The second difference was playing 4K movies. On this player, the picture quality on older movie formats is noticeably better but the biggest difference is with older movies that have been upscaled to 4K. Good examples are the 4K Harry Potter box set and Pacific Rim. Both films feature many dark scenes so colors did not seem as vibrant the dark edges were not as sharp. With this player, 4K upscaling dramatically improves the details, colors and darks in a way that now I feel like I am seeing these films for the first time since I first saw them in a movie theater. This player coupled with the right connectors, LG OLED TV and Klipsch w/Dolby ATMOS speaker system, has forced me to seriously think about changing out my favorite action movies to 4K (if available). BTW, movies made in 4K (Wonder Woman, Black Panther, etc) look and sound amazing! I may have finally reached my home entertainment nirvana.

Just one Outstanding Blu-Ray player. It was delivered on time without any damage and it was the fastest set up I have ever done. Out of the box and watching a movie within 15 Min. I call them as I see them, and this is one fine Blu-Ray player at a great price for a basic unit without all the extra stuff, Wi-Fi, Apps....(Less stuff to break) I recommend this to one and all that want a great Blu-Ray player at a great price.

The reviews on this one are pretty accurate - works well and picture quality is nice. However... One down side is it doesnt not seem to work with an HDMI autoswitcher. The blu-ray Im replacing worked nicely in conjunction with my Roku - I had it plugged into port 1 of the autoswitcher and the Roku into port 2, so that whenever I had the blu-ray on it would take over the screen and when it was off it went back to the Roku. However, this player doesnt seem to want to relinquish control of the switch, even when it is off. I think it has a "fake" off so that it can do a quick start. My Sony blu-ray is like that, but it is something you can turn off in the settings. Sadly, this LG blu-ray doesnt have any such options, and after trying 3 different autoswitchers, I still cant find anything it will play nice with. If Im not past the point of no return, Im going to return it. If autoswitching means nothing to you, then this is a great blu-ray player

I had doubts about how well this would play with its cost. I bought this for my bedroom where I have a 55in. 4k tv. We try and watch a movie once a week in bed for a little "Us" time. Weve had this now for about 4 months and I am very pleased. 4k looks just as good as my Sony on our 75 and it up converts dvds to near Blu Ray quality and Blu Rays to near 4k quality. I have not watched a 3d movie on it as of yet but I can feel solid in my review on how good of a deal this is for the price. Not asked or paid to do this review, it just happened to pop up while I was reviewing another order and I felt I should share how pleased I am with it so others on the fence about buying it can feel a little more confidant in their buy. Hope this helps someone out there :)

Movie turns off every 15 minutes. The power on the unit is on, but the TV screen switches to screen saver. Tried correcting in the menus and it still doesn’t work. The TV is not set to timeout due to inactivity and neither is the blu-ray player. I do not recommend this unit bc it’s extremely frustrating to turn the movie back on every 15 minutes. Tried hooking the unit up to multiple HDMI ports and other devices work fine. This player is nice - in 15 minute intervals. This unit is hooked up to an LG OLED 4K TV and it’s firmware was updated - another annoyance bc it has to be hard wired for updates.

I bought this in spite of having read a LOT of negative reviews here. I like the features of no bloatware "apps" on the player----all that stuff is already on my TV. Some reviewers whined about the remote, but I had no problem with that. HOWEVER,.......I wired it to a dedicated HDMI port on my week-old 4K-OLED TV, using an HDMI cable advertised as passing HDMI-2.1 qualification, playing a brand-new 4-K DVD. WELL, it performed exactly as many of the 1-star reviews predicted: it would freeze to a black screen randomly and recover after a few seconds, but then after about an hour of that nonsense, it locked up and powered itself off. Restarted the unit, fast-forwarded to just before the freeze and hit run, and it played perfectly right through the point where it froze, then 5 minutes later started the same nonsense. Having read of similar issues with the Amazon reviews, I packed it up and returned it after one full day of ownership.
