Description
Eliminate awkward silence with the updated Soundlink Micro (2nd Gen). Featuring crisp audio and impressive bass, this compact speaker is surprisingly powerful. A pocketable size and a new utility strap means you can attach it to your bag, slip it in your pocket, or play straight from the palm of your hand. Tiny-but-tough, the SoundLink Micro is dust- and waterproof (IP67) and drop, rust, and shock resistant. Upgraded Bluetooth provides a strong, continuous connection within 30 feet (9 meters) of your device. An even broader range is possible depending on your surroundings - ie. walls, various radio interference, and your streaming device manufacturers' Bluetooth implementations. Extended battery life gives you the power to play for up to 12 hours2 so you can always cut through the quiet. It all begins with a beat.

Get full control over your music through the Bose app. Tweak adjustable EQ, check on battery power, and manage connections. Available in Bose Black, Blue Dusk, or Sandstone.

Gen 2 Micro SoundLink
I actually have two of the Gen 1 Micro Soundlink speakers, so when they asked if I wanted to try the new one, of course I said yes! The first thing I noticed is that it is slightly larger. The strap is completely different, instead then the tight silicone strap that just unsnaps and snaps (with effort) once wrapped around anything, it is now a webbed strap that feeds through and loops back around, securing with velcro. While this does give more options of things you can secure it to, it is harder to get a snug fit, and the silicone strips on the back of the strap are ineffective in keeping it from sliding out of position, and rethreading the strap into the slot is challenging if you have stiff fingers. The old silicone strap had more give after repeated uses, which ultimately makes it pop open too easily if not strapped to something. I had found the perfect spot to strap the old one to and the new strap does not hold it as securely and often migrates / pivots instead of staying put like the old strap did. The button configuration has also changed, and I have mixed feelings, as they have inverted the power and Bluetooth buttons, and I had gotten used to the old placement. The buttons on top are completely different, and are labeled clearly, which might be the best change the buttons have, as it is more functional. There are now two small lights to indicate power and connection, with both staying on while in use. The power pulses during charging and stops and stays on when fully charged, vs the four lights that indicate power on the first version, which do not stay lit when in use. I use this speaker mostly at night, so I preferred the single light during use which was easier to block, and the placement of the second light, which is also the bluetooth indicator, is on the top, and not easy to block at night. The power announcement is brief on the new one, which I appreciate because, having it talk so long when turning on at bedtime was disruptive, so this is better, and not quite as loud. The battery itself has a longer life and holds charge better and longer, which is the best improvement by far. I no longer have to charge daily, and it uses 10% per night on average (to keep it playing all night long) so I can go several days between charging which is fantastic. I also like that it is now a USB-C input instead of the micro USB for charging. Overall, the new generation is an improvement and I really like the new version. I miss the old strap, for my purposes, but on the whole, the new version is pretty great.

Thought it would be better
This is just okay. We had higher hopes for a Bose product. The sound is not as loud as we thought it would be. The quality of sound is good though. It was easy to pair and use right out of the box and it does hold a decent charge.

Small Speaker, Big Sound
The Mini BT Speaker has a powerful punch! It's compact but you wouldn't know it if you weren't looking at it. Great for college, if you're on the move, or small room.

A Worthy Upgrade
I’ve had the first generation Micro since 2018. It’s been my go-to speaker for travel and its ruggedness has held up well, except for the strap breaking after 2 years of use. I had high expectations for this new generation, and after comparing the two, it has some pretty significant upgrades: 1. I really like the new strap. It’s easy to attach, holds well, and feels durable. 2. The new generation gets surprisingly loud. While the previous generation had a warm sound, this one is noticeably brighter and treble-forward. I wouldn’t be surprised if they used the same driver as the new SoundLink Plus. That being said, it sounds fantastic and clear. 3. It stands up by itself! I was surprised to see that the speaker can stand up vertically, which is a nice touch. It’s a little chunkier, and feels like it can take a tumble. Overall, I really appreciate the 2nd generation micro for its combination of portability, engineering, and most importantly sound quality. The brighter sound signature pairs well with my SoundLink Max, while being portable enough to bring anywhere.

Big sound in small, portable speaker
I have been using this speaker almost daily for over a month now and it has performed above and beyond my expectations. It is a small speaker but feels substantial - doesn't feel cheap or fragile. I actually dropped it on the pavement when I was using it outside at a tailgate and it didn't seem to phase it - not a scratch on it. The sound is high quality and it can get pretty loud with the volume turned up! It's easy to attach to chairs or can just lay on a flat surface. Overall I'm really happy - Bose didn't disappoint - another great product.

Great speaker
This speaker may be small but it works amazingly well. Ut is super simple to connect we have used it with different phones and tablets with no issues. It charges quickly and the battery lasts for days.

Packs a punch!
So impressive! Rich, clean, crisp sound and lots of boomy bass for such a compact BT speaker! USB C charging. Could be even better with Magnetic charging and strap. I’ve been using this to jam with some tunes on the guitar. I’m able to attach this to just about anything. Portability is great! Small enough for your desk, bathroom etc. Pairs to just about anything BT! Use it with your Apple TV or Mini IPad for a movie bedside!

Bose is the Best
I bought the first generation years ago and was very pleased with the sound quality - and the second generation is definitely an improvement. I love Bose products, especially the Ultra Open Earbuds, but I enjoy the speaker for times when I am not using the earbuds. It is easy to carry with me from room to room - kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, or outside! The sound from 1st generation was good, but the second generation sound is even better.

Great Speaker Around the House and On the Go!
This mini bluetooth speaker is GREAT for me around my apartment and on the go. My bathroom is far from my living room but this speaker makes listening to music in the shower and getting dressed super easy and convenient. The sound is incredible, and the bass is nicely calibrated, just like all other Bose products. I also took it on a short bike ride and it was like my own personal concert with me. I love it!

Love the new version! USB-C for the win!
I previously owned the first generation and I am so glad with the improvements on this version. I love that it has USB-C since I travel a lot so I prefer to just keep the amount of cables down. I feel that the design is rugged enough to be thrown around in my bag while travelling. The best part is the fact I can use it in the shower or at the pool. I really like the size, however the only issue/recommendation I have is that the strap that it has is not always long enough for my purposes. I would love to be able to wrap it around the shower curtain rail or something like that. I also wish that the bottom of the speaker had a stand or something since I don’t like to lay it down. The sound is still good but I just lean it up against the shower wall or a bottle to get the best effect. I also have the Bose Soundlink Max, so when I am in the pool or party I love to connect them so that we have the same music coming from different sources. I love the seamless connection and I do have to say for such a small speak the noise quality is excellent. I listen to a range of music and love that you can change the EQ through the app. The app isn’t always my favourite to use but it makes it easy to connect. I think that this product is great, it is a bit bigger than my JBL waterproof speak and the noise quality is much better than my old Braven speaker. I really prefer to use this. If you’re on the fence, I really recommend this product especially if you travel or like to listen to music in “not-dry” conditions.
