The MX Master 4 maintains the iconic shape of its predecessors — the kind of ergonomic silhouette many productivity-users have grown comfortable with over the years. At first glance: same footprint, same dual scroll wheels and gesture button layout you expect.

But dig a little deeper, and Logitech’s dropped in a handful of key upgrades:
Haptic feedback at the thumb rest: move, tap or use the new “Action Ring” feature and the mouse gives a subtle vibration. Tom's Hardware+1
Less rubber-coated surfaces (softer-touch plastics have been scaled back) and a more durable, lightly textured shell. WIRED+1
The “Action Ring” menu: hit the thumb-button and a pop-up ring of shortcuts appears. Customizable. Handy. Productivity tool. IT Pro+1
Wireless options: USB-C dongle with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and long battery life (alongside rapid charge features). WIRED+1
Bottom line: If you’re using a previous MX Master (say 3 or 3S) and you’re looking for a major overhaul — you may find this feels more like an evolution than a revolution. The shape is very familiar, the upgrades are incremental but purposeful. If you’re into workflow shortcuts, thumb-gestures, and nice tactile feedback (which, yes, is a new twist for a mouse in this category) then this is a solid pick. If your prior model already works great for you, you might think: “hmm, I’ll wait for the next leap.”
