We operate a small publication design business, so color proofing and document printing is very important to us. Wed been using a color Laser printer for this task, but the supplies were killer expensive and the quality was usually sub-par, requiring us to proof using a photo printer for most proofing. As a result, the desks near our workstations got very crowded. When I first unpacked this HP printer, I was a bit worried about how big it was, but those fears disappeared as soon as I printed our first proof. It took maybe ten seconds to print it in four-color. Color quality and fidelity are very good for the cost. The ink tanks are very easy to install securely and last for an average between 5000 -- 6500 pages according to the specs, so after searching online for replacement cartridges, I was very happy to find them priced around $50 each or less. Installation can be accomplished through wired networks, wireless networks as well as USB, which we opted for... for now. The setup manual that was included was relatively easy to follow, but the included CD software install didnt work properly in Windows 10, so we re-installed the printer using the HP online installation which worked like clockwork and was very fast and easy to follow. The printer also allows an untended network connection for upgrades, etc. which we will investigate. One thing that I didnt like was the lack of a printed operators manual shipped with the printer. Once downloaded from the HP website, I discovered that there was a second paper tray after all, but without the manual (125 pages in pdf) it might have taken some time to determine how to use it. I tested it with number ten envelopes, which ran perfectly. The other issue is that I cant seem to find a way to print borderless photo prints using this printer, which my old Canon did very well. I want to emphasize how happy I am with the quality of the printing. The results really do look, even on high-text pages, like a CMYK offset printed sheet. For a small business that needs to have sharp, great-looking communications documents, printed FAST, I would recommend this printer very highly. Make sure the installation is done by someone who really knows the IT systems in play, so the best options can be selected.

I use this for my small business which does a lot of printing of presentations, brochures, etc. This is not a "home" printer. It does sit on a table top but it is high volume business printer. The quality is excellent - just like I used to pay for at the office copy places. It prints fast. Its easy to set up with your wireless network. My favorite thing is that it prints envelopes which makes marketing mailers a breeze. HP printers have always been pretty good to me. But this is the best inkjet quality Ive had. The only thing I would say is that for $500 Id like to have copy function too. This is only a printer and its been a long time since I only had a printer without scan and copy capability.

I regret buying this printer. It is very slow to start up and shut down because of the programming that HP uses to check to make sure you are not refilling your own ink. If you are running high volume for an office or private school, look elsewhere. The ink is a real hassle to refill. The printer will tell you that you have a counterfeit cartridge installed and refuse to run. The printer will also stop running and will not allow you to print in gray scale if one of the color cartridges is empty. I turned the wireless feature off and it turns itself back on every time I power the printer back on. I will not buy an HP again in the future. I will probably look at Epson, Cannon or Xerox. I really hate feeling like I am being held hostage and that is exactly what this HP printer makes me feel like. I dont feel like I own this printer. I feel like I rented it and HP is spying on me. Summary: Not cost effective to run, average print quality, proprietary lock down control.

This is simply an outstanding printer for medium-high volume printing for a small business, particularly if one has remote employees and a centralized office. After setting up your test page includes an email address, to which anyone who has that address may send documents for printing. This is a huge boon insofar as it means dispensing with a remote working emailing a .pdf so that someone local can send it to the print queue. if youre on the road, or just out on the town, sending a document to print is as easy as sending an email -- and thats a bigger deal than it sounds. The color quality is fantastic. Like many others our use of color is situational at best, as most of the time were doing letters and/or contracts. When color is called for,its vibrant and incredibly detailed, though the stock youre using will play into that substantially. Print speed in such an environment is hugely important, this ripped through 5 copies of an 80 page document in less than 10 minutes, which is something our laser printer couldnt touch -- and the fact of the matter is that when printing plain text the 452dws output is all but indistinguishable from the precision and clarity of laser printed documents. Have to load paper frequently on your current printer? Our laser holds about 1/2 to 2/3rds a ream, maybe about 250-300 pages. We dropped two full reams into the 452dw, and it clearly could have held a little more. So -- print quality on par with an economical laser, speed in excess, fantastic remote printing functionality, and it uses less electricity. As much as I try to go looking for things I can note as problems (even minor), I just havent found any with this printer. Exceptionally happy.

This HP PageWide Pro color printer was designed for higher-volume, small office environments. While the text print quality is as close to a laser printer than you can get for an inkjet, the color print capability still showcases that this printer is, indeed, an inkjet printer. For my test, I created a two-sided color brochure using Adobe InDesign and saved it as a high-quality PDF. I printed it both using a Dell Color Laser printer and the HP PageWide Pro. I used the same quality paper for each, ensuring that the PageWide used the HP ColorLock approved paper for the print out. The disappointing part was the bars of color on the HP. While the Dell laser printer showed a solid, printed block of color, the HP had small, discernible areas of uneven color, showing that the print was on an inkjet. I tried using other media settings, and it helped a bit, but the printing was still clearly from an inkjet. For monochrome/greyscale with large areas of coverage, there was still a blocky, banded look to the print. The test printed page, however, had a brilliant and detailed photo on it; that printed crisply and the photo was very detailed and less inkjet-like in the print. At this price point, I really did expect more from this printer. If youre printing a lot of text-oriented items, Id still stick with a laser printer. If youre looking to print more graphics and cant afford a high-end laser, than this might be a good choice for a small office. Note that I did NOT go the IT-setup route; instead, I used a Mac to set up the printer on a WiFi network, and the setup was easy and seamless. Connecting a new Mac to the printer via Bonjour was simple, and even with a Windows system (needed to download drivers separately) was easy to connect through secure direct connect. I liked that there were multiple ways to provide access to the printer via disparate devices and operating systems. A definite plus for the printer.

First of all, let me say that while this printer is intended for a small office, it is surprisingly compact and also works for a house full of screenwriters who have a lot of printing to do. Its nice to have a speedy communal printer that can churn out scripts. (And we do run a script reading business, so I suppose that counts). My other printer is much slower, so Id have to queue up screenplays sometimes hours in advance. This printer is sleek and easy to use, and it prints fast. I received this printer for free as part of the review program, and as such, I find it very worthwhile. That said, since Im mostly printing B&W, it still probably makes more sense to stick with a toner printer rather than an inkjet, as toner can produce a lot more pages for a lot less money. Still, if youre looking for an inkjet and want to have great speed and solid color capabilities, this is a wonderful way to go.

I wanted a color laser printer. This was my search criteria. This is not a color laser printer. Trying to deal with it, but feel this was deceptive.
